Omg. Yeah I understand why Vortex is what it is. Every Vortex is unique and always Haston's of character which I can appreciate. I had the Holy Guacamole Burger with the guac on the side: Now that burger was incredible. The fries were perfect and so was the burger. I'm glad I've only had great burgers at Vortex. If you know anything about Vortex you know it can appear pretty sacrilegious and I can see it turning some people away, but if you can stomach it I the food won't disappoint. Went here because there's honestly not a lot of restaurants open late in Atlanta. This is my second time here and knew it would be a solid late night dinner spot. We were sat and greeted by our server instantly. Our server was kind and quick. We got the cheese balls appetizer with the jalepanos mixed in. They were super yummy and crispy with the sauce that came with it. We split the patty melt and fries for dinner. I wanted a med-rare cook so the server kindly swapped out the smash patties for a thick patty for the melt. It was a solid patty melt and the crinkle fries were nice and crispy. I came for dinner on a Sunday night and the bartenders were amazing! They were so nice and even though they were busy, they got to me at a decent time. My drink was AMAZING, I actually got two of them because it was so good. I decided to get a burger, which was fine and the fries were good. Well first off. The Vortex is an Atlanta must visit. They are well known for their strait forward rules printed on their menu. I've visited several times in the past. When i arrived i found a seat,and was soon visited by Kirsten. She took my drink order and ask if I needed time to explore the menu. However I didnt, as i had decided what i wanted to try,long before arriving. So i settled on the Fat Elvis. Now I love PB,but wasn't sure about that on a burger. I dont really care for plantains either. But I decided to go all in,and try it . Im certainly glad I didnt change a thing. You could taste the sweetness of the pb,but it wasnt over powering. I found the combination very pleasing and taste. The onion rings were great. Now this is a bar so expect low lighting in certain spots in the bar. On the day of my visiting they were blarring music. So if your looking for a quiter setting,this might not be your spot. However i highly recommend you go visit. read more

This place is legit! I was killing some time downtown and stopped by The Vortex. The inside was dark and decorated with all sorts of crazy memorabilia. I actually decided to sit outside, so I could people watch. If you sit outside, just be warned that your service might be a bit slower. As for food, their menu looked inside. They had a ton of interesting burger options, but I went for the 50/50 Chili (half beef, half turkey). The chili had a nice flavor to it and it came with some kind of cornbread on the side. I love how the restaurant was set up, the decor and random knick knacks were very cute. Went closer to 2pm on a Sunday, it not very busy. Our server was very attentive and the service was fast. The second time here, but my first review. I first came here in 2019. It still looks like I remember it. It's a small restaurant in the mid-town area. We actually came here early in the day. It was completely empty and quiet. We didn't order any food, just sat at the bar and had some beer. I had the Apple Cobbler. Their beer sizes are huge. I ordered the small, and the beer looked like a large. The bartenders were friendly. The restrooms and restaurant were clean (since it was early, I'm sure, lol). The vibe was super noisy with a diverse age group of customers. The music was not to my liking as I don't enjoy super loud music with f-words. They have a comedy club right next door. Our server was friendly and quick with our order although the bar took a while with my beer. Our burgers were excellent! My friend got the cheeseburger and said it was one of the best they had ever had and I got the Pickle Rick impossible burger which was delicious! We ordered an appetizer of Mac N Cheesy Changa which was amazing! And I ordered a Gate City Lager which was enjoyable. I went to the Vortex around 2pm on Feb 25. The song in the entrance said " no host on duty so sit yo ass down" which we did. after waiting for someone to come tonight table I went to the bar and repeated what the sign said and continues in jest thatbwe sat our ass down and asked if anyone knows that our asses are sitting there. The person behind the bar said " you can eat somewhere else if you don't like it". When I returned to my table so one had come to the table and I asked to speak to the manager. The manager turned out to be the woman who told me we could eat somewhere else. She then subsequently told me when I told her I was not happy with her response she said " I could do whatever I want". We got up and left. I will never come to this establishment again and I will make sure everyone I know knows what kind of management you have. read more

First thing is the server was the best part of the place. We've been here before when we come to Atlanta to visit our son. It was always a chill vibe, cool decor and great food. But last night we went and the music was literally so loud we could not hear each other across the table. There was maybe 2 other tables in what is usually an always full restaurant so when I asked if they could turn music down, I thought it was a simple request. I was told that is the way the manager wants it- "old school" ??? Thankfully it was a cool night so we went to sit on the patio- (there is no music at all and they are hard metal picnic tables) The food was just ok. Nothing close to what it was before. A delicious burger spot! I went for the GA/GA Tech game, and this place was the perfect atmosphere being right near Tech's campus. We were all craving something heavy, like a burger, and this hit the spot. There wasn't much else on the menu other than burgers, so you know this had to be good. I got the Swiss and Mushroom burger...and Swiss and mushroom it was! It was topped with tons of mushrooms and Swiss cheese that I picked it right off the burger with my fork. The burger was absolutely delicious and flavorful for a burger patty. I didn't eat the bun, on a Thanksgiving cleanse haha, but it looked pretty tasty. I also loved the pickles that came w it. As a side, I got the house salad. I wish the bowl was bigger because the salad had so much on it, but it was ok. The atmosphere was bar-like. There was a bar right when we walked in playing the football game on all of the tvs. We sat right away with no wait, which we all appreciated. Service was great! Here's the long story short--decent burgers, meh atmosphere. I've been meaning to come to the vortex since I turned 21 because I thought it was going to be a whole experience. Maybe it's because I came during lunch but it was pretty dead inside. Maybe just about a handful of people. Service was also very eh. The hostess kept walking out to smoke a cigarette and it looked like people from the kitchen just kept going in and out to chat around. The Vortex has a very extensive menu. I would hope it you don't like burgers you're not trying to eat here because the menu is really just burgers and sandwiches. A lot of the burgers had extra additives that just seemed like a lot (ie. the Mac and cheese burger, or the burger with cream cheese). I prefer a staple burger so I ordered the retro diner burger and added bbq. It was honestly a pretty decent burger. The Pattie was well seasoned and the condiments added to it. It did get a little soggy and mushy as I continued to eat but the flavor was still there. Like I said, a little underwhelming if you're going for the hype of the name. Luckily the burgers are fairly priced so I don't feel like I came out of pocket too much for this. The original location is on Moreland, but the Peachtree location is close to my place so it's fun to walk over for a bite or to have a drink (or 3 lol) I've typically had good service, but it can be slow and they definitely don't pride themselves on being friendly lol the inside has a very retro grunge vibe - everything from skeletons riding Harley's to a massive pen** inside next to the entrance (decor like this may be something to note if you're considering bringing kids!) The menu is massive and there's a tonnnn of fun different burger options. Sometimes the toppings are so abundant that I can't fit the burger in my mouth lol their chili is fabulous and a great quick bite to go as well. read more

I'm so 50/50 about my experience. The host didn't ask if we were okay sitting outside which kind of sucked cause it got coldddd and upstairs isn't as cool as downstairs. The place was super cool, but the food was not great. My Server was kind, but he didn't check on us until our meal was 1/2 way done.
