WOULD DEFINITELY recommend (general). Came by with the bro after running some errands, was looking for some good food for lunch. There is a matcha restaurant right next door (called "Isa"), make sure you aren't standing in line for that one, make sure you go inside the actual restaurant (unlike us). They have a kiosk that you can order from and have a pretty extensive menu, so many flavors, sauces, and customization add-ons. I went with the classic Buttermilk Fried Chicken & Waffle Sandwich Deluxe (add-on) + HOT Honey substitution (add-on), side of regular fries, side of White Cheddar Mac & Cheese. We didn't go during a busy moment so it took only about 10 minutes for them to make our order. Their sandwiches are to DIE for, I would recommend you ask for your sandwich to be cut in half. The chicken was fresh, sauce was sweet and flavorful, they put the right amount of sauce along with tomatoes, lettuce and other add-ons. My rating of the sandwich is 9.4/10, it is literally the perfect sandwich if the sandwich wasn't disintegrating on me, but I think that is a good thing, wouldn't want a crunchy waffle sandwich. The mac & cheese was also very good, would give a 8.1/10, if they crusted their mac & cheese, it would be 10 times better. Would also recommend a bit of a kick, but it complemented the meal pretty well. All in all, this was a great place to stop by for lunch, they had a patio that we sat outside and ate at on a beautiful day. The front cashier was very helpful, walking us through the entire menu and giving us his best recommendations, definitely bettered our experience. For the quality of the meal, the pricing is also very reasonable as well. I would recommend if you are around the area, to stop by and enjoy a meal at this establishment. They have another location as well, which I didn't know (hopefully quality is consistent across the board because quality was great during this visit. read more

I am sad to say that the Waffle Bus is not actually a bus. Their aesthetic is somewhat unappealing with the font, colours, and pictures of the food that look garish. It was very cold inside, but they have outdoor seating as well. They have a lot of crazy-looking items on the menu with plenty of burgers. They only have a few sweet waffle options. We got the fried chicken and waffle sandwiches. One had the regular chicken, and we subbed the other for hot honey. I thought the chicken was really good, and the sauce was tasty as well. The waffles were okay. The fries were also just alright. One waffle sandwich was a ton of food, although I did finish it all (with difficulty). The staff got the order out in a reasonable time, especially considering it can get busy in a hurry. As for the ambiance, it's a casual spot with a laid back vibe. I've been a fan of The Waffle Bus for almost 10 years now, ever since it used to pull up to my dorm back in college. So when I saw they had a full restaurant now, I had to take my mom to show her one of my old college eating stomping grounds! The menu has expanded so much since the food truck days, and of course I had to try something new, but there was no way I could skip the famous Chicken Thunder Fries. We also ordered the Hottie Melt and the Brunch Burger to share. Flavor-wise, I really liked the Hottie Melt, but I was a little thrown off by the bun being flipped inside out. Was that intentional or just because you ran out of the toast it's usually served on? If it was the latter, a quick heads-up would've been appreciated so we could've swapped for something else. The Brunch Burger was a win. It was my mom's favorite. Basically a classic bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg on top- simple and flavorful. Now for the part that makes me sad to say... The Chicken Thunder Fries weren't quite how I remembered them from the food truck days. The fries didn't taste super fresh- a little tough, like they'd been sitting out- and the sauces, which used to make the dish, were barely there. I had heard about the waffle bus from friends so I went to the Alabama location. I ordered waffle and tenders. When I got my order, one of the tenders had no breading on half of it. I went in and asked if they could replace it with a tender that was fully breaded. The kitchen staff member took the entire order and threw it away. Then went into the kitchen and walked over to the other kitchen staff member and then they both looked over at me and started laughing. It's extremely rude to give an angry side eye to a customer, just because you couldn't do your job properly. I regret going there in the first place and I won't be back. read more

I have loved The Waffle Bus since I first had it at it's food truck but this was my first time coming in to their restaurant building. I had passed by a few times in the past but this was my first time passing by hungry and with time to spare....well I didn't necessarily have the time but decided the person I was meeting would have to wait. I pretty much knew I was coming in to get my old favorites from eating there but was pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed by the amount of options. To say the least I acted out a little bit when ordering, so let's get into this adventure. The restaurant itself is very nice. It has that clearly modern, but retro diner aesthetic from the outside. Inside is very clean and bright. There is a lot of popping menu item signage to highlight items you may have skipped over. I didn't realize it was a place that you put your order in with a screen instead of a person. I stood for a minute thinking I was waiting on someone to help me before realizing. I wish one of the people behind the counter would've informed me of this as I stood there. I didn't see anything telling me to place my order that way if there was a sign for it, so if it isn't I think that would be good for first-time customers. The menu itself as I said before is very vast compared to what I was used to from the food truck. Everything on the menu though thankfully feels on brand. I'm sure the next time I go I'll get some things I didn't try this time. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffle sandwich was a must-have from previous times. It's a juicy fried chicken breast served on waffle halves with their Thunder Sauce. Every element of this sandwich works for me. It's savory and sweet and spicy and oh so delicious!! I also got the Chicken Thunder Fries. This is their Seasoned Waffle Fries topped with chicken bites and thunder sauce. This is another item that I've had and is where my indulgence starts to show. I could've easily just got the waffle fries, which are in themselves delicious, but I wanted to go the extra mile. (Not mad at myself for doing so ‍) This item is a whole meal in itself. Lastly I got the Hottie Melt with an extra patty. Again this is essentially the third meal I've ordered, but again I do not end up mad at myself for doing so. This is actually the only thing I had that was new to me, as I didn't know they offered smashburgers. It's a habanero spiced patty with American cheese, grilled onions, jalapenos and their Stormy sauce. This was a very delicious burger! For me to have went in expecting delicious fried chicken and waffle variations this was an unexpected gem. The items I look forward to trying on a next visit would be the Mac & Cheese, a sweet waffle sandwich (which I've had before and know to be good), the Swirl Milkshake and Milk & Cereal Ice Cream. A place like this that has given me so many wins on different items, always makes me feel encouraged to try more of their menu. For me there wasn't much customer service interaction but the times when I did was pleasant enough. The only comment was wanting some menu help. Ordering on screen though is pretty straightforward and a smooth process. Overall this is an amazing place that truly wins in all aspects to me, from visual aesthetics to menu options to deliciousness, it's all great! My son convinced me to come here and I must admit we had a fantastic experience. My friends and I came here on a whim after a visit at the Menil because it was just a short walk away. Fun and casual restaurant, very fitting of the Waffle Bus aesthetic. You'll order at the kiosk and pick up at the counter. From my previous experiences with the Waffle Bus food trucks, I always thought it was overpriced and just okay. But this time it was definitely better. I shared a HOT Tender basket - 2 tenders, waffle fries, and toast. If you like Chick-Fil-A, you will LOVE what Waffle Bus offers. However today, my fries were delivered open and at the top of the bag under the knotted bag to where my Dasher had no choice but to touch. He told me he asked and that was even a "rebag". I did not receive any of my sauces on the side. And the MacDaddy has about one small spoon of Mac and cheese on entire chicken breast. Flavor all good and this is all of no fault of my Dasher. Waffle bus was a bit of a surprise on my random Montrose bar crawl. Its not super conveniently located but it was sort of perfect for our crawl from Richmond bars to Westheimer bars. They're open a bit later on Friday/Saturday nights so a good carb loading spot between bars. Anyway, its a very casual eatery and an order at the cashier and wait for your number to be called sitch. We ordered waffle fries and a chicken sandwich. I thought the waffle fries were great but that's just waffle fries in general, nothing super stand out above other waffle fries. I will say the portion seemed a bit small for the price and for a "large." The chicken sandwich was pretty good as well, I had a bit of my partner's but I was mostly there for fries. One of my favorite coffee pop ups did a collab with The Waffle Bus. Decided to eat brunch here. The last time I had Waffle Bus was during their food truck days. The restaurant was super packed, but there was plenty of seating. Self-service, order (kiosk or in-person), and then grab the food when your name is called. Got the Wings & Waffles (4 pc each). The chicken was great! Very crispy and juicy! Went well with the sauce. Strawberries were fresh. The waffles on the other hand were too soft. I was expecting some outer crispy texture but sadly no. Okay guys I'll keep it real at best this was mid, food was good but could of been fresher felt like the food was already cooked and sitting over the fryers. I remember seeing it on ubereats and thinking it was gonna be so good unfortunately I was disappointed. And the waffles were good too. Sweet enough that they didn't need syrup. Also got an order of waffle fries. They were well seasoned and very tasty. The place was all self serve: you order off a tablet. It wasn't hard to navigate. Service was also pretty fast. Maybe took about 10 minutes or less and there was never a line. Another thing I really liked was the look of the place. Like the outside of the building looks slick & I guess modern(?). I don't know. I liked the design. It also seemed to be quite a popular spot.
