I like how each statue has a description with the number of bricks used to make it. There, of course, is a gift shop as you exit. I was going to purchase a post card but when I realized it was $4.99 I put it back. The exhibit is really nice and I'm glad I went but I went through the entire exhibit in about 30 minutes. Our tickets cost approximately $30. Parking is difficult in downtown Miami but we found a lot a short walk away.

I have a confession to make...I lied...about being an art fan…read more There's no way I can consider myself a connoisseur of the Miami Art Scene and not have stepped foot inside Dorsch Gallery until tonight! I stopped in tonight for the Bubble Art exhibit I heard on the talk thread, and went beyond the main entry hall. The raw concrete floor, the exposed masonry block work, the nooks, the crannies, the turns just beg for artistic creation. The exhibits tonight ranged from a cot made out of bank deposit bags - perfectly symbolic of the recession - to fluorescent colorful "stacks" and even a Great Pair of Legs on the floor. The coup d'grace is the outside patio where an local band was playing. It is an architectural hodgepodge of a patio slab, grass, and pavers. The patio roof itself is another marvel with two different types of wood framing. Of course, there was the requisite comp bar (which unfortunately I passed on tonight) and also a little picnic table outside. The acoustics weren't that great, but we're not a hoity toity concert hall but at a cool end-of-summer backyard party!

I picked up 2 pieces to display in my home. The artist Luis was extremely knowledgeable about Cuban culture and it is reflected in all of his art pieces. A MUST SEE in Little Havana!!!

Leah Arts District is not in real close proximity of bars and restaurants. It is in a very industrial district. The quality of the murals is great. I drove around to see the murals, you could easily walk the area but then again, it is very industrial. I saw everything in less than 30 minutes. The murals are nice to see but if you go set your expectations accordingly. I believe they may hold special events.

The two wanted to create something cool that would attract people to Hialeah which didn't have any cultural arts programs. The pair picked a name for the area and partners were selected to launch the project. The first event was a street festival held in April 2015 which was attended by over 2,000 people. The Leah Arts District is adjacent to Flamingo Plaza, a place to get your off beat purchases. The arts district is located in warehouses that were a hub of manufacturing in the 80's and 90's. After work was outsourced the warehouses were abandoned. Thrift stores moved into the area sparking an arts scene. The Leah Arts District emerged as an affordable place for artists to live, work, and showcase their art. It's located only 15 minutes from the more well known Wynwood Arts District. The Leah hosts block parties, live music, workshops, and performances. The area has approximately 30 murals from East 9th Street to East 17th Street and East Tenth Ave to the railroad tracks You can follow the Leah Arts District on Facebook for upcoming events. Unbranded Brewing Company is having their grand opening on February 23 and the annual block party is on March 7. I would recommend attending one of the events because on a Sunday afternoon the area was completely dead. Right now the Leah Arts Districts looks Wynwood did in 2005. The rent is lower here which is attracting artists. This area is being touted as the next Wynwood so it will be interesting to see how things develop. It's definitely a place to keep your eye on.

I had VIP tickets to Art Wynwood, which also gave me access to the Boat Show next door…read more Unfortunately, it was torrential downpour, so the entire experience was not as enjoyable as it could have been, although that's not the fault of the venue. Fortunately, Art Wynwood was fully indoors. This was the first time I had been to Art Wynwood and I enjoyed seeing classic pieces from Latin American artists Wifredo Lam and Amelia Pelaez, pop and surrealist pieces from famous artists like Warhol and Dali, as well as contemporary pieces from lesser known artists around the world. I was really pleased that the show featured several local galleries showcasing local talent. Art Wynwood reminded me of a scaled down version of Art Miami, I thought it was very nicely produced and would love to go back next year.

There's something about standing in front of it that instantly slows everything down. The sun poring through the leaves. The simplicity, the balance, the silence it creates, it almost feels like the artwork is inviting you to pause for a moment. I found myself just staring at it, letting the calm and tranquility take over. The gallery itself is beautifully curated, with a clean and thoughtful layout that lets each piece breathe. Just the tip toe noise on the wooden floor makes me chill every time I walk through it. It's the kind of place where you don't rush; you wander, reflect, and connect with the art in your own way. It is free to access and all the personnel is nice and attentive. If you're in Coral Gables and looking for a moment of peace mixed with inspiring contemporary art, Cernuda Arte is definitely worth stepping into.
