I ordered salmon with miso sauce, but it was not miso at all -- it was some kind of sour, completely different sauce. The fish was overcooked to the point of being dry and inedible. I had specifically asked to substitute the rice, but it was still served -- and there was a hair in it, which is absolutely unacceptable from a hygiene standpoint. The kids' burger was overcooked to the point of being dry like a cracker, and the fries looked and tasted like they were cooked in old, repeatedly used oil. This is unsafe and unacceptable, especially for children's food. The steak was ordered medium well, but was served well done -- completely overcooked. The chimichurri sauce was also misleading: instead of the classic green sauce, a red mixture was served that had nothing to do with it. The coleslaw was simply awful. Additionally, the staff showed no proper response -- we were not offered a replacement, a discount, or even a proper apology. This reflects a complete disregard for service standards and customer care. In its current state, this does not meet even basic restaurant standards. read more

***If you are thinking about dining here please read! Save your money! My family and I dined there a few days ago, and from start to finish, it was a disaster. I ordered the miso glazed salmon, which not only tasted terrible but didn't even arrive until 30 minutes after everyone else at the table had already been served. Thirty minutes! By the time my meal came out, my family had already finished eating. Keep in mind, this was at 5:00 PM--there was no line, and the restaurant was nearly empty. There is absolutely no excuse for that kind of delay. I understand that salmon can take longer to prepare, but this was beyond unreasonable. The entire point of going out to eat is to enjoy a meal together--not to have everyone finish while one person is left sitting there waiting. That's the bare minimum expectation of a restaurant, and they completely failed at it. What made it even worse was the complete lack of acknowledgment. Our waiter said nothing about the delay. When the food finally did arrive, the waitress dropped the plate on the table, mumbled something about cooking time, and walked off without so much as an apology. No effort was made to fix the situation--no apology, no comped meal, not even a small gesture like offering dessert. We held off on complaining at first, expecting someone to recognize the mistake and make it right, but that never happened. This was beyond frustrating. The service was unacceptable, the food was mediocre at best, and the entire experience felt like a complete waste of money. The Warming Hut wasn't promising as much as we taught. Wait time was so long and no one did text us when the table was ready! We were waiting at car while the guests that were waiting inside were coughing without even covering their mouth. I checked the web that they sent when i got into reservation! The ambiance was ok but they were too busy and understaffed. I asked for straws and she brought with bare hand and tossed in sticky table. The food was !!! For appetizers we ordered garlic parmesan fries and crispy Brussels sprouts. Garlic fries was too gross and we didnt eat! It seemed they made it long time ago! The taste was awful and the sprouts were burnt. We also ordered Asian stir fry with cilantro lime rice with steak and salmon! The stake was black we asked for well done not burnt one...The salmon was too small with no flavor and too dry. I was surprised and disappointed to see bones in my grill salmon as ive never had this happen before when ordering grillled salmon on my salad. The stir veggies were super messy and watery on top of rice...Overpriced for what we got. $18 for Asian Stir fry, $10 for dry small salmon, $12 for burnt steak, $10 garlic parmesan fries and $15 for burnt Brussels sprouts. The parking was hectic so if you stay close by its better to walk.. Also, we sat next to the window and the wind was coming inside from closed windows and it wasnt pleasant. read more

Good food, great staff free parking accessible inviting atmosphere. My wife and I each had one of their hash items for breakfast. They seem to use the same potato pepper base and then add your choice of a corn beef or barbecue brisket vegetarian etc. it served with homemade ketchup they've all the typical menu items for breakfast. They also do lunch and they do dinner. This spot has been a Mammoth tradition for years located on old Mammoth Road very easy to find if you're coming up from 395 the parking lot is after the restaurant not before. read more

We at here two days ago for dinner and today at lunch. The food is reliably good. The service is excellent, particularly if you get our favorite waitress, Amber. The place has a rustic feel, a bar with drinks. It is also kid friendly. It has outdoor seating which is ideal when the weather is good. Parking is limited. My husband had the Fresco Pesto Chicken sandwich with a salad and their homemade Caesar dressing. I had the half cheesy sandwich and tomato basil soup. I don't think I've ever tasted as fresh a tomato basil soup. Food was excellent! The other night we had the Brussels spouts (a favorite) and the Reuben with fries and a salad. Don't waste your money!!! I paid $28 dollars for a very small chicken breast with the tiniest portion of mashed potatoes and asparagus. And that was the highlight of our experience. I paid $40 for my wife's cold prime rib dinner with cold mashed potatoes and cold sautéed vegetables. She told them it was cold and they were kind enough to microwave it so that the meat was only slightly overcooked while the vegetables and potatoes didn't quite make it to what I'd call lukewarm. My family and I were on vacation and we chose this restaurant as our first dining out experience in Mammoth. Terrible decision. After we sat down at our table where the host did not walk us to, we were greeted by our waiter, this was 1 of the 3 times she visited our table throughout our dining experience. While we waited 30 minutes for our food, we noticed an issue with the food runners/expos and their sanitation. We witnessed multiple food runners digging in their shirts/bra, itching IN their ear AND their hair, blowing ON hot food while carrying plates out to tables, and from our table we had a clear view of the expo line where the plates were set when ready to go. We saw employees taking fries off of plates and eating it as well as lifting up burger patties with their bare hands, wiping the residue on their shirts and continuing to deliver it to a table. To top off our experience, our waiter came to our table 3 times total. The last visit we had with her, she was fishing for a tip and stayed for 3 minutes on an attempt to chat it up with us after doing the bare minimum. Do not recommend dining here and I will not be returning. read more

The Warming Hut was an unexpected surprise while at Mammoth! Great service and food is what this place is serving up daily! This place gets busy so arrive early. If you need to wait you can chill at the bar in the front and watch a ball game. This place has you covered. It's also worth noting that Warming Hut can handle large groups. We were a party of 10! The food...it's a bit of everything on the menu. I opted for the daily special which was a pair of birria tacos with side of rice and beans. The flavor was solid and the amount of food for the price was perfect. Overall, it's definitely a place I'd recommend if you're looking for a great place to eat and unwind while visiting Mammoth. Dined July 14, was served chicken and waffles with raw chicken, sent it back, they sent it back out re-cooked on the same plate that had raw chicken on it, and the waffle was soggy butter melted like they had microwaved it. Super flavorful and spicy. The bacon was thick and cooked perfectly. I demolished everything. Parking is very tight in their lot and can definitely get full. My only complaint is the inconsistent fries. They have these homeade fries that are to die for. The homeade ketchup is also delicious. But in the slow times it seems that they switch out the good fries for frozen ones and they are not good. Pretty unfortunate that they seemingly punish the customers supporting them during the shoulder season. We will still come here as it really is good. Cute breakfast spot that's dog friendly with good but maybe not amazing comfort food. We wanted a spot we could grab some breakfast that would allow dogs and found this spot. We came on a Sunday at 9 and it was just starting to get busy. 4 groups ahead of us but we got sat within 15 minutes or so. Nice servers and they check in pretty regularly so that was nice. We got the chilaquiles, chicken and waffles, and a half order of the biscuits and gravy. The chilaquiles has a nice kick of spice to it. I added chorizo which added a lot of oil which made the chips soggier which was a bit of a bummer but otherwise a good dish. The chicken and waffles were similarly solid. The chicken was pretty typical, well fried, decent seasoning, not dry. The waffles were fluffy and soft and prety tasty. The biscuits and gravy were also...good. A chunky gravy with lots of sausage. The biscuit was dry which was a bit of a bummer. I liked the outdoor space, nice area and they had dog bowls with water so they are actually dog friendly. We got here for a late lunch. They seated us promptly and we requested a seat change out of the corner which they accommodated without issue. Once seated our server told us right away they were switching to Happy Hour Menu in 20 minutes to prep for dinner service so requested we place our order post haste. We were a group of 7 and had a variety of food items across the table. The food was pretty good all around. The rueben was spectacular. We were checked up on sufficiently and staff is great here. Looked at the other reviews and decided to try it out. We were greeted quickly with a smile. The fireplace was a nice touch. The menu looked amazing. So many choices. We decided on the Texas Bbq and tomato soup to share. Well the sandwich was so good we ordered another. Tender and so tasty! Nice soft bun. Perfection. The soup was incredible- again so much flavor. Finished it off with blueberry pie (server recommended) WOW. Perfect ending. The service was great too. Our server Rich was the best, friendly and in a great mood , he checked back often. The service did take a bit of time but after our food came the servers checked in on my table often. The menu had lots to offer including all the usual suspects even mocktails. The food was okay, honestly nothing I would rave about. Portion sizes were good for the cost. Drinks were about the same. This is a very cool cafe in Mammoth Lakes, nice mountain cafe vibe. The staff were very friendly, Joey was our server and was very attentive and friendly. Ordered the Inyo Face. Wrong order came out. At the point the wrong order came out, I requested tomatoes on the side in lieu of Serrano peppers. The corrected order came out after a delay with the same Serrano peppers. Eggs were fine but the potatoes were dried out, the few pieces of onions were burnt. Uninspiring meal to say the least. My family & I stopped in for Happy Hour. Only the Happy Hour menu is available from 3 - 5 pm which was perfect for us. The restaurant has a rustic type feel. It was very warm & welcoming. Our waitress was very nice & helpful. They have a special Happy Hour menu which has a nice little variety. The prices were reasonable, especially for the area. What a cozy lil spot that we stumbled upon in Mammoth. I went in on a Sunday, prime time for breakfast, and the wait was 30ish minutes. They offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They have a lot of menu items ranging from soups to hash skillets. They offer something for everyone. They even have a huge portion of the menu as a 'DIY' section which I loved! I ended up ordering an egg white omelette with tomatoes and a side of a biscuit. My boyfriend got a chocolate chip banana pancake with the Traditional Skillet. I was quite disappointed in the biscuit, I've had better elsewhere. The pancake was airy and fluffy with a generous amount of chocolate chips and bananas. The maple syrup was some of the best I've ever had. This was a 10/10 and I wish we had more! The Traditional Skillet came with potatoes, eggs your way, and corned beef. My boyfriend really enjoyed this but I couldn't help but notice all the leftover potatoes. Was he just full or were the potatoes not that good? The corned beef was made in house and delicious. I would order a side of this next time! Overall, the menu is large and there are a lot of things you can try. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service is just enough to go back. For food, everything we ordered was perfection. I had the iron steak with mashed potatoes and green beans -- absolutely spot on. The kids' grilled cheese came with fresh fruit, which I really appreciated. We tried a few other dishes as well, and every single one hit the spot. The bar is also fantastic -- a great selection of wines and beers, plus some of the most delicious cocktails. Our waitress was amazing and even brought out her personal favorites to share with us -- you truly can't go wrong with anything here. We almost skipped dessert... and I am so glad we didn't. The warm blueberry pie with ice cream was unreal, and the brownie was just as incredible. Comfort dessert at its finest. Oh my... where to begin. First off I really wanted to like this restaurant. After mountain biking and hiking the hunger meter was high. I like to start with the positives so here it goes. Clean restaurant with nice ambiance. Friendly staff. And, that's it. On the "room for improvement" list: -- after we ordered and our food arrived we never saw our waiter again, until it was time to pay. No checking on us, if we liked the food ( we didn't - burying the lead) , or needed more to drink ( we did, even though the drink order was not filled properly to begin with ). Two of our party ordered the large prime rib dinners. One was close to the expected size, the other about two thirds the size - conveniently the size of the smaller order for a smaller price. Only we paid full / large size prices for both. We ordered medium rare for both. Nope. Well done is an understatement. No joke I move the table sawing through my not so prime rib. The edges were leathery and more like a jerky than a recently cooked piece of meat. We ordered rice with our rib, single scoop, toddler style. The whole thing came on a child's plate - presumably to make the whole thing look bigger. Now for my 10 year olds dinner. Chicken and broccoli. He tried to be polite but couldn't eat the chicken. Odd taste. Leaving it at that. Other food served was mediocre at best. My wife's salad was ok, but it's tough to mess up lettuce. And then the bill... yikes!!! $240. Was so pleased through added their own gratuity of 18% when we had close to zero service. A tip is meant to recognize, well, good service? Overall I am disappointed with the food in Mammoth and this was no exception. Go to Vons. Cheaper, better, and the service is nearly the same. read more

So it was my first time in Mammoth Lakes with my family and I, and from all the different restaurants to choose from this one stood out the most so we decided to give it a try, and it was simply amazing! The inside of the restaurant was very nice, clean, and organized. The staff was all very friendly, the food was all amazing. In fact, so great, we ended up going back the next day. There's a parking lot in the back. The food here is hearty and cozy. The staff here are very friendly. The food came out relatively quickly. - Chimichurri Ribeye: My favorite! The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection and was a good amount of protein! The mashed potatoes were scrumptious. The green beans were ok. - The Texan: This brisket sandwich was saucy and delicious. The sweet potato fries were crispy with the side of ranch sauce. - Seared Ahi Salad: I really liked the salad, dressing, and crispy wontons. We came here for dinner. The food was super delicious after a long day of hiking. The vibes of the restaurant and the service were top tier. Super cozy atmosphere and the workers were super stoked and enthusiastic. Definitely try their hot sauce. My favorite was the red one. I loved the ribs, they were tender and fell off the bone. The buffalo wings were incredibly flavorful and had a positive unique taste to them! The brisket sandwich was fantastic and had such tender and flavorful brisket slices. To top it all off, the fries were fantastic. One of the more well made fries I've had in a while! 100% will come back again and again! read more

I am updating my rating as I had a different experience. Despite what I am writing here, I am going with solid 4 as I feel that is what it ultimately deserves, and not lower. I still really want to like this place, and to some extent I do. I tend to judge places based on service/comfort, quality of food, price and for breakfast, how sick I get afterwards. My favorite place, Good Life, was closed because it was too slow and both Breakfast Club and Stove were as well. My main issues here was the breakfast menu. I feel WH tries too hard to be different or fancy or something. I really didn't see anything on the menu I liked; however, the cocktail menu looks phenomenal. The food was decent but not as good as I had hoped and had a lot of "filler" sides. Service was excellent. Pros: - The service was truly excellent. Very attentive, very welcoming. I also greatly appreciate the waitress' honesty about something on the menu that I wanted to order. She advised against it. I got it anyway and she was right. I appreciate that honesty. It goes a long way. - Nice ambiance with the fireplace and sorta western look. The bar also looked inviting, though had a bit of a locals vibe. - Bathroom was spotless, large and smelled good. - Great cocktail and dessert menu. The apple pie was excellent. Cons: - Beverage prices are ridiculous, the highest I've seen in Mammoth and tiny glasses. This is my biggest beef. The cocktail I got was literally in a shotglass and it was $15 if I remember correctly. - The menu isn't for everyone. I really didn't see anything that looked good to me. Others will disagree with me. - If there is something on the menu that even the staff doesn't like, it shouldn't be on the menu. - I got very sick. This has nothing to do with the quality of the food or food poisoning. Instead, they are using some kind of oil that is no bueno for me. It's the first breakfast place in Mammoth where I felt this ill. Point being, if you have sensitivities to breakfast foods like eggs, maybe pick something else. Would I come back? For drinks, yes. I'd probably return eventually for the food or if friends wanted to go there. I prefer the simplicity of Good Life's breakfast. WH is a town favorite, but I just don't see it yet. It has a TON of potential and someday I hope it checks my boxes. So, for this cantankerous reviewer, I think this is still a somewhat positive review.
