The food is very good for snacks, although for me it's a bit too lively for dinner. They also do an excellent salad bar lunch Monday to Saturday. The only slight quibble is the service which can sometimes be a little slow, but I know they're working on this at the moment. The people who work here were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the bathrooms were large and very clean. We ate two different times here and the food was fabulous both times. Breakfast comes with your stay. Eggs, English bacon and toast. There were other things but really who could ask for anything else? This will definitely be the place we stay if we ever come back to Chichester.

The have numerous fish dishes on the daily specials board. I was tempted by the crayfish and crab open sandwich with fries. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the portion size of the fish far outweighed that of the bread. It was super tasty and very filling. The bar has a good selection of lagers, ales and wine, plus all the usual spirits. I chose to wash my sarnie down with a lovely pint of Hooky, an Oxfordshire ale. It's definitely worth making the trip out to this pub but I would advise booking, especially if you are visiting in the summer. Also, request a table by the window if you can.

A recent lunch there from the set menu revealed a sure hand in the kitchen, though front of house was a bit scatty. I had pan fried hake, with Indian spiced potatoes, spinach, and cockles. The superb creamy sauce had just a hint of curry flavour, and the whole thing worked wonderfully. My partner had roast neck fillet of lamb, with saute potatoes, pancetta, and Calvero Nero. This was a bit salty, and the lamb a bit chewy (although flavour was good). Puds were better still. I had cinnamon macaroon, maple roasted banana, pistachios, and chocolate mousse. It was a sort of deconstructed banoffee pie, and a marvel especially the creamy mousse. My other half had the vanilla poached Cox apple, lavender marshmallow, and blackberries. The marshmallow was stupendously tasty and soft. The set menu was 2 courses for £17.95, three for £21.95. A glass of house wine was an extra three quid. So, great tastes, imagination, and good value. Wait for an exhibition at the gallery that catches your fancy, and go.
