It really does have the best view around, hence the name, bit cold in the beer garden at the moment, but if you need a nicotine fix still very pleasant and delightful in the summer albeit busy! Inside is very cosy, I have a thing about lighting and this is perfectly lit with a mix of fairy light and candle light - oooh my favourite! The staff are lovely and have seen me in many different states, shapes and forms and haven't been rude to me yet so they must have pretty good patience... They offer quite a good drinks selection - not the cheapest, but they're always changing their wines which are usually very decent, I'd like them to get some Malbec in though, they never seem to have that... But it makes me try different things! The food in there is hearty and delicious. VERY good pub grub, extremely filling and has that home cooked taste and feel. I love the southern fried chicken burger and the veggie fish and chips (halloumi) it's served with chilli jam - BOOM! They usually have steak nights and such where the chosen food will be considerably cheaper on this night, everybody loves a bargain! Unless you're a flashy 'see you next Tuesday'... Great for kids and dogs Without it becoming a crèche or Crufts. Definitely a home from home.

Yes, the top of a hill is a lovely place to be at sunset. The ambiance is the definition of a perfect late afternoon. Their coffee machine was broken when we visited, so we settled for booze (it's a pub, after all). The barman was friendly. The Stowford Press cider on tap was really nice. No fewer than three dogs were present on the outdoor patio, meeting each other happily. It's cradled in a residential area right next to Queens Park, so you can cap off your day of gazing at vicious seagulls and honking back at giant white geese. Brighton locals who live nearby are so lucky. I wouldn't have minded lunch and dinner at the Setting Sun as well.

Its a modern European restaurant specialising in Belgian food, they also function as a coffee house and music venue. You may have seen the establishment in Kemp Town, it has fiberglass woman hanging from the outside with fruit on her head! Live music can be found there on a regular basis downstairs from the restaurant. They also have movie nights and Bom Bane the musical where customers are entertained by the singing staff! Its a really interesting place to grab a morning coffee or evening bite.

When my friend and I got in, the whole party in this pub was just getting started at around 11:00. Although I did not eat the food there, I did enjoy the atmosphere, the drinks, and chatting with various people. They had a disc jockey playing various music that night, so it was definitely loud. I was introduced to supposedly one of the most popular English ciders, which is Strongbow. Liked the refreshing taste and the slight sweetness. I think I drank more than two pints here. I think it's a better alternative to just drinking beer all the time. We sat down on a hardwood table, but there is a place outside filled with sofas if you need a comfortable place to sit outside while fulfilling a smoking craving. Another great advantage this pub has is that it has free wi-fi, which is great if you need internet. Overall, this is a pretty good pub, one of the loudest I have been to during a Saturday night, and I had a great time hanging out with my friend and meeting a lot of really cool people. Just don't use the toilets here, it's pretty dirty, like most of pubs I've been to in England.

There is the front section with tables are chairs, the bar area, and a back section with comfy sofas and a pool table. They often have a DJ on weekend nights and the place can get really lively- nearly every time I've been on a Friday or Saturday night it's been packed and people inevitably end up dancing drunkenly about the place! Because it gets so busy, you can be waiting at the bar a while, but its a small payoff for such a great atmosphere. If it gets too hectic inside, they have a massive split-level garden, with plenty of seating and heaters. It's a great place to go if you're in a big group, because you'll usually find a seat. With great tunes, good drinks and fun people, the Sidewinder is the perfect place to go if you don't quite fancy a club, but you want to dance in to the wee hours!

Not always the easiest task! However the Eddy was the perfect choice. I called up and reserved a table- they were really helpful and gave us a large table right in front of the big TV-perfect. When we got there, it was busy but not crowded- mixed group parents and kids, late 20s crowd, couple of groups of guys watching the football but it was a really relaxed crowd. Atmosphere was good for the match - animated but not rowdy at all. We didnt eat but the mexican natchos lots of people were eating looked great. They've done up the decor and theres lots to look at on the walls and theyve smartened it up a lot. They were playing good music and had the football commentary on too- perfect! The Eddy was a perfect choice for what we wanted and I think i'll come back for more than just football next time.

Now the establishment offers a combination of fine wines, real ales and excellent food all served in a really relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. When I ate there I had the pork belly with Calvados gravy and it was excellent. They grow their own vegetables in the garden so you can really taste the difference. They also rent the restaurant out for functions, to be honest I can't think of a better place to hold a birthday meal!

The ambience spread over to the clientele as it was reasonably quiet. Unlike many pubs where people seemed to need to shout to speak to each other. After a drink we were guided to a table in the restaurant. Lovely young lady that would serve us this evening. The menu was interesting with a good selection of dishes but, noticeably, normal Pub Grub with a twist. We stuck to the normal fish and chips. Wonderfully cooked fish with a beautiful tartar sauce. The chips, triple fried. Brilliant. Service was second to none. That young lady was there before we needed to ask. Like she was in your head anticipating your requests. Price was more than reasonable. Looking forward to visiting our friends in Arundel again and another visit to this gem on the river.

It also makes a few craft beer pub lists too as it has a very long list of world and craft beers, mainly in bottles, to chose from. It may surprise a few but it also serves amazing cocktails. A craft beer place AND a good cocktail place under one roof!? Surely not! But yes, it definitely works, they do a mean Amaretto sour and Espresso Martini and some of the more unusual cocktails too. It's not table service though which I actually really like as it remains down to earth and has a local hangout vibe. It gets really busy at the weekends on Friday and Saturday nights and there's often a band on or a cool DJ playing Northern Soul over the weekend too. In the daytime it's really chilled out and the bar staff are always happy to chat to you and talk you through the latest beer/cocktail menu (or about anything really!). There's also seating outside but with the view of the top of St. James Street it definitely is a better view inside with its quirky decor. I lucked out with this place being my closest pub!
