Don't listen to the "teenager" who angry posted about this dance studio. She apparently didn't have…read morethe skill, the desire and the determination to become a great dancer with that "attitude". Anyway, I grew up and danced with both owners. I believe I know some of the other teachers there as well. CDE's level of teaching dance supersedes that of any other dance school in the entire tri-state area. Bank on that. Many of their students have gone on to the best Performing Arts High Schools as well as top notch Colleges. Many/most students get scholarships and are awarded high honors, join a major ballet company, end up on Broadway (Rockettes or Musicals), or teach at prestigious dance companies all over the globe. Competitive? Yes, of course. They are great enough to be. If your child has the skill and the drive to take it all the way then you WANT CDE. You want them to be trained by the best in the business. If you want to be coddled, lied to, and to be taken advantage of financially: go to a dance school that has the teacher's name in it. Ms Joy's School of Dance will gladly take your money and lie to your child about his/her skill level. Think of it like this: if your child wants to dance as a once a week hobby or a recreation: CDE might not be the place for them but they will make sure they dance like a pro anyway. If you think your kid may want a lifelong career in dance, desire to try out for any of the tv dance shows out there, compete at a high level, dance on Broadway, teach dance, or anything of the sort: you WANT CDE.

The skills of the dancers were absolutely solid, the choreography was beautiful, the choices of music and numbers were modern and beautifully executed and the costumes were stunning. I felt that I was at a professional dancing company performance the whole time. I loved how they integrated classical ballet techniques into the non-ballet numbers to showcase the solid skil-set foundation of their students. All in all, I was immensely impressed. Spectacular job of both teachers and students! Congratulations to owners, teachers and all the dancers on a fantastic performance and thank you to Christina Manousos for graciously providing me with an opportunity to watch it.

She was so patient and kind to us and broke things down into steps we could understand. She even burned a copy of our song so we could practice every time to it. And she came up step options that went with our song so we could pick the steps that we felt best comfortable with. We just wanted to not do the typical high school side shuffle for our first dance. My husband wanted to shock everyone and learn how to do a simple dance. Well Paula had her hands full with us but she is a miracle worker! We learned and executed a great first dance and surprised our friends and family by actually having an interesting first dance yet we were still able to look into each other's eyes not focusing on steps but our focusing on our first dance as husband and wife. Thank you Paula for ensuring that our first dance was a wonderful romantic moment in our lives that we will never forget and could never thank you enough for! She is the best and I highly recommend to anyone thinking of lessons to do them as without a doubt it was not only fun learning together but it was completely worth it to get that extra special moment with my husband!! Paula you are awesome!

The greedy money grubbing daughter took over this place and now they treat every child like they…read moreare cash. Every child is supposed to get a full recital dance regardless of their skill level but at this school they pretend they are too good for that. They will admit to this in their reply. They will say my daughter is a beautiful dancer (yes) but she was not good enough to get a recital dance (no). They don't actually care how well your daughter dances, they care how much money the parents spend. This is not a great school it is a snobby school. I was the worst dancer at my ballet school and I was better than all the dancers at this place. When I took a class at Metuchen dance the teacher said WOW. My daughter danced at Metuchen dance center for 4 years. This is not a lie. I also took a class there for a year. I know this place well. This year they did a ballet. My daughter was in the hobbit dance, or so I thought. Just before the recital my daughter noticed that she and 2 other kids were standing still for most of the dance, while the rest of her class were dancing. It gets worse. At the actual performance she and these 2 girls were at the far far back of the stage, by the back curtain. They were separated from the rest of their class by a huge distance. They weren't in the second row, they were way way back there. They were background decoration. The rest of her large class were dancing at the front of the stage and for a much much longer time. When I complained about how upset we were that my daughter had to stand still and watch the rest of her class dance her dance, a teacher and the head of the studio insisted that all the dancers were dancing for the same amount of time. It's not possible to lie about objective facts. Everybody can see the video and everybody can count. The rest of the class danced for much longer than my daughter. Then Miss Kerri actually told me that my daughter was lying about being upset about this, because she knew the dance was done a month ago. How awful can you be? Don't give your money to these people. They will treat your child like trash and they will not apologize.
