The Wheel is unbelievable. If you can get in to a pop-up dinner, do it. It's the most amazing dining experience. Chrissy and her team do an amazing job from start to finish. The focaccia is simply the best bread anywhere. I'd push my grandmother down a flight of stairs to get some, but fortunately I don't have to. Stop in for carry out lunch or dinner or hit one of their special events.

Went for the pop up dinner. I'm truly torn about this review. Everything was well made. Great combo of flavors. Clearly fresh ingredients used. And the pop up dinner concept is just plain fun. Yet, I'm not sure I'd go back unless they change their format some. I just can't eat a meal of mostly carbohydrates. The meal was 3 courses of bread, a small salad, 2 vegetarian pastas - and absolutely no meat in any of it. I just can't do an unbalanced meal like this. So, it's just not for me. But if you love carbs, it's probably perfect for you.

This continues to be one of the best take away places in Cincy. My absolute favorite is their pizza, only available once a week, per pre-order only, during so called 'Wednesday Pizza Party'. I do also take their sourdough and country French breads often. They make everything from scratch from local ingredients, so really anything you will get is gonna have this artisanal small batch quality to it. Excellent food.

The Wheel started as a pop-up restaurant hosting private dinners and they have expanded to now offer takeaway orders four days a week. All of their bread and pizza doughs are hand mixed and baked fresh daily. And the menu changes daily. The Wheel is pretty well hidden on the eastern edge of Oakley on Brotherton Road, tucked between homes and small apartment complexes. There is a small parking lot, or street parking out front. The brick exterior actually doesn't look much different from the neighboring four family homes. The interior is clean, new, and modern. Menu boards are updated daily with the offerings of the day. I couldn't decide between the two pane offerings of the day, so I ordered a slice of each! The tomato pane is amazingly delicious! The stewed tomato sauce for this is super thick and also contains oregano, garlic, and olive oil. It is lightly topped with cheese and dried herbs. The coppa & peppers pane had a base of the same thick crust, a little tomato sauce, and provolone. The coppa is a salami like meat and was complimented with banana peppers. This was also a good slice of pie, but I have to recommend that you try the tomato if you can only handle a single slice. Two slices was more than I could finish for my lunch.

We reserved the wheel for a private dinner and had the most spectacular time! It was intimate, delicious and memorable. We had four courses and each time Chef Chrissy walked us through what we were eating it was even more special because she incorporates local food into the meals. We started with focaccia, spring salad and local cheese. I could have eaten just the bread and gone home happy it was delicious but it only got better from there. We then moved to a pasta and then gnocchi where we wrapped up with angel food cake. Would highly recommend booking for a private event!

Loved the Mortadella! The buns were soft and fluffy, probably one of the best focaccia I have had in the world. Everything in the sandwich was fresh and clean (from meat to veggies). The only complain I have was that my sandwich had a bit too much sauce, thus the sauce was a bit overpowering, but nonetheless, it was a great sandwich and I can't wait to be back. I already know what I am going to get next, their pastrami sandwich. I love pastrami and have high hopes for that.

Food is solid. Portions are small. Customer service and friendliness are lacking. We've purchased food from here at least ten times since it opened several years ago. The sandwiches in the early days were truly spectacular, and we had a lovely multi-course dinner one time when those communal dinners were held occasionally next door. Portions have become smaller, and prices have become higher over time. Unfortunately, my last two purchases have also left me feeling like an annoyance rather than a valued customer. When we wanted to support this place as a small business early during the pandemic, the phone interaction was not pleasant at all because I didn't have my credit card right in front of me to pay over the phone. I was expecting we would pay at pickup, and there was no information to the contrary on the website or in emails. I grabbed my card quickly and paid, but the annoyed tone from the owner was one I thought I had picked up on before in previous interactions and one that made me decide I wouldn't go back. Then, this week, probably a year and a half later, I decided we would try again because maybe it was just me and because we still support a ton of other small food-related businesses in the area like St Francis and Sebastian where we've never had one negative experience. We ordered $125 worth of food to feed lunch to four people and scheduled a pickup time. When I got a message saying the food was ready half an hour early and was still in a work meeting, I texted and emailed to say that I couldn't make it until the pickup time or maybe five minutes earlier. Early is great except when you have a $15 fried fish sandwich that you'd rather not eat super soggy! There was no response to those messages nor acknowledgement when I arrived to pick up. A brown paper bag was placed on a counter for me, and when I asked if it contained only the bread so that I could pick it up and turn it on its side to carry the other larger bag, the woman acted annoyed that I had a question. My other items were brought out promptly, said fish sandwich was not soggy (seems to have been assembled when I arrived), and the food was generally tasty. However, here's the thing. A $12 side of arancini should contain more than 2 arancini, especially when the arancini are only 2 or possibly 3 small bites each. Neither the customer email nor the online online ordering system indicated how many items were in each side, but in each side, I received two cold rice balls that had not been crumb coated nor fried. (We've familiar with the fact that the pasta meals and most mains are all served cold, etc, but "naked," uncooked arancini was confusing.) We ordered two of these sides, and one ball in each was broken which could have happened in transit, but the balls were packed tightly in the container and handled with care on a 7-minute ride. There was maybe a tablespoon of filling (fennel and taleggio) in each along with a beet dipping sauce. When I opened the box at home, I just put them to the side because I had to hop on a work meeting and didn't have time to deal with coating, frying, or even baking the arancini. See photo for two of the arancini. Each was $6, and the pan is the size of half of a toaster oven if that gives you some sense of scale. The kale salad that was my main meal had a tiny container of dressing (about 1/3 the amount of what was in the beet dipping sauce - maybe 1.5 tbsp?) and used curly kale rather than lacinato kale which is a bit more tender. The pieces of kale really needed to be massaged with the dressing and allowed to rest before serving. In lieu of that being done for the customer, there should have at least been enough dressing for the customer to do so at home. I stretched the dressing with olive oil, but then the salad had no flavor. When I'm paying $7 for a small salad, it should have a lovely dressing as described and I shouldn't have to improvise at home. While on my work meeting, I messaged to ask how the owner intended for the arancini to be prepared at home and offered a suggestion about the salad dressing. Two full days later, and there has been no reply at all. Solid food can be found in more and more places in this city, and I'll continue to purchase it from places where portion sizes make sense and owners/staff are friendly with customers. The Wheel could learn an incredible amount from the previously mentioned businesses as well as Brown Bear Bakery here in town.

Went here for the January pop up dinner, and I'll just add to the bragging love that everyone else gives. It was fantastic for a few reasons, all the dishses tasted great, and I would recommend anyone try them if you love hand made pastas and breads. They deliver layers of flavor in every dish, then give you the tools to soak it all up and chew on it later. Friendly staff, and nice enough company if you choose to interact with the other diners. We started with an urban stead chese and a foaccia with truffle oil that was so rich and flavorful it could have been an entree course in it's own right, then proceeded to a nice wintery salad with pistachios and compressed grapes. Very bright and balanced, if overdressed. The next two courses, the pasta and meat entrees, were substantial, filling, and complex with different seasonings and spices in the meat itself. I think pasta often runs the risk of becoming one note, and so small portions fit the cuisine well, where as here I was always completely satisfied with the size and amount of food. I loved every bite, I felt like I could eat more of it and enjoy it, but didn't need to. They finished with a panacotta with bay leaf and a star anise cookie (biscotti perhaps?). The panacotta was really rich but honestly the thing I tasted most was the bay leaf. Since I'm not a huge dessert person, and I was pretty full from the aforementioned pasta dishes, I didn't have much of the dessert. I will DEFINITELY return for takeout. The problem for me is that it is a very tight space, with a lot of people, and there isnt a single soft surface. It's LOUD, it's tight, and it's a little overwhelming. I don't knock hem any stars for that, because I still had a great time and it's strictly personal preference. If you're lucky enough to beat the rush when an email randomly goes out at 1134 in the afternoon on a tuesday - TAKE CHRISSY UP ON IT! You will have delicious food and you can decide for yourself if the ambiance is disconcerting for you. Also a huge amount of love for them taking care of my date who started filling sick during the meal, and for showing a ton of grace and understanding when I made a significant mistake. 5 star people and food, unquestionably.

Wow truly one of the best dinners I've ever had period! The Wheel is a pop-up dinner by email reservation in Oakley on 3805 Brotherton, Chef Chrissy Antenucci, spent the last 10 years honing her culinary skills in New York and San Francisco in restaurants such as Quince and Gramercy Tavern. She returned to her hometown of Cincinnati to be closer to family and friends. Tonight's five-course meal -Antipasti -basil custard -roasted hen tortellini in brodo -tagliatelle, red wine, polpettini, tomato -summer berry dacquoise Plus homemade olive sourdough & the best foccocia I've ever had - Chrissy said she will be selling in the shop soon, melt in your mouth. Amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Okay the secret is out!

I'm giving The Wheel 5 stars after I've visited about 5 times in 2 months. This makes The Wheel my most-frequented restaurant probably since I was a college student going to Chipotle right next to campus. I was hipster enough to get into one of Chrissy Antenucci's amazing dinners before she blew up and her dinners became the coolest thing in town to do. Therefore, I must end my review now withholding further praise, so that maybe I have the hope and chance of getting into one of her future dinners.

The wait is well worth it. My biggest tip is to arrive close to opening if you can. They're incredibly popular, and because their bread takes three days to make, they can sell out if there's an unexpected rush. One helpful note for first-time visitors is to walk all the way inside to place your order at the register in the back. We ordered the L'Alveo and the La Rossa, and both were outstanding. They happened to be serving them on gluten-free bread that day, due to the mad rush and honestly, I never would have known it was fantastic. The sandwiches were fresh, flavorful, and incredibly filling. The L'Alveo was rich, creamy, and wonderfully indulgent, while the La Rossa was bright and refreshing. The eggplant in the La Rossa was the star. Every bite was excellent. What really made the experience stand out, though, was the hospitality. The owner was warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate. As a table, we ordered the mariemont salad, the Cuban, the famous burger and a bowl of chili. I don't have too much to say about the burger. It was tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. The salad was unique and was shared by 2 people at our table. The Cuban was filled well and good value. Its always nice to see a restaurant not skimp out and deliver a nice product. I ended up ordering a second bowl, it was that good! I would reccomend this place for a casual meetup with friends or family. Plenty of cozy seating inside, fast and friendly service and great food!
