I always opt for buffalo and i got the sense they brush the sauce on as they bake. I drive all the way from suburban New Jersey to come to this spot. I make the trip for the karaoke on Wednesdays. It's the best bar karaoke in the city. Great setup, friendly DJs, extensive catalog. The past few times I've ordered the wings and they are some of the best I've had in New York. But tonight I ordered the Cobb salad and was completely blown away. Who would expect a Cobb salad from a bar to be this good? The hard boiled eggs were perfectly cooked (I hate when I order a Cobb salad and they are overcooked and sulfuric), the blue cheese dressing was chunky and made in house, the chicken was perfectly seasoned and it wasn't dry, the produce was super fresh - I could go on! Maybe that doesn't sound very impressive but I've been living in New Jersey the past five years, after living in Brooklyn for ten, and I really took the food here for granted. I can't believe how good that salad was. Rocco the bartender is also super friendly and an excellent conversationalist. Love this place and its other incarnations but this one is my local and has become one of my top haunts in a neighborhood teeming with watering holes. So happy it re-opened. Great bar food (couldn't decide between the burger and the fried chicken sandwich so had one one day and the other the next!). Love that they have tots. Good nachos, wings, and of course the Bowl O'Bacon! Speaking of - when you ask for bacon on a sandwich they do not play. Solid tap lineup with something for everyone and I am a beer snob. Whiskey, sports and board games, what more could I ask for? I met a friend here and we had a really great time. For a Sunday evening, it was quite busy, but we easily posted up at the bar and quickly became friends with the bartender. The minute we sat down the drinks started flowing. My pal stuck to beer and crown and cokes, while I drank half my weight in old fashioneds pretty much. Since we had just eaten dinner, we did not partake in any food, but my neighboring bar pals ordered food and it looked delicious. Looking at their food menu though, it seems they have a decent selection of pub fare. The space embodies a sports bar combined with a dive bar, which I love. It happened to be NBA All Star Weekend, so luckily I was able to watch the All Star game, while drinking old fashioned and playing a few intense rounds of Connect 4. Ideal night in my books. Came here a couple times and had a good experience and a great bartender so I thought it would be a good casual sports bar to come to in the future/semi regularly. However, had a terrible experience today. I walked in an hour before game 2 of the Yankees playing in the world series, hoping to watch a college football game that was currently on. Knowing the Yankees game would likely be put on most of the TVs due to the game's popularity I first went to politely ask a bartender if any of the TVs would continue to show the other games currently on them. Two bartenders proceeded to yell "why would you even think we would show that?!". (Maybe because it was currently being played on two TVs and it's a large sports bar with many TVs I thought it'd be worth perhaps asking). The two hostile bartenders then proceeded to ridicule me angrily for even wanting to see a game besides the yankees game. Additionally, the bar had about a third of the booths and bar seats open so it's not like they were in a stressful moment with customers flagging them down that would excuse or at least explain their rude behaviour. They seemed to simply be mean just because it's their personality. I walked out knowing I will not be returning unfortunately. Please hire staff that doesn't yell at patrons :( read more

Another neighbor staple, The Whiskey is a sports oriented place. I love coming here for big sporting events and hanging out with friends without going too far. The bartenders are so nice and friendly. It's a bit strange at first, but they have barcode menus and you have to get up and order at the bar. Their food is typical bar food. It's okay, but I usually just order a drink. They don't have a crazy cocktail menu, which is the only this that doesn't make this place amazing in my opinion. But they have a wide selection of beers and could make you a cocktail of your choosing if you ask them to. They have several TV, so you can watch several games at once. They also have a billiards table and giant Jenga. They started doing Trivia nights on Tuesdays at 7:30pm and I am pretty sure they also have Karaoke nights as well. Drinking and dining for the timeless man or woman. One of the things that makes me give a high rating, is "they make me feel like Sinatra." Usually, that means one of several things: I get the kind of respect afforded to celebrities trying to avoid the paparazzi; I'm treated like a high roller; people speak Italian in my presence (but only a few words and in a Sicilian-American accent); I feel totally appropriate in French cuffs, clipped tie, pleated pants and shined shoes; and/or the music of Sinatra and his gang is playing on the sound system. This joint accomplished none of that. And yet I feel like Sinatra would approve. I got the kind of respect afforded a charming brother from another planet, my cash flow situation beyond question, and the cordially hyperactive, physically fit bearded young staff in t-shirts, bounced around to music from the 80s (which, full disclaimer, is actually "my music," having been born as Sinatra was transitioning to a well paid and beloved living historical relic) calling each other dude and bro, while efficiently serving food and libation that we white men have adored for well over a century: quality meats, fried starches and assertive alcohols. This is a great spot to catch some football on a Sunday. I will say, you have to get here pretty early to be able to get a spot. Otherwise, you will most likely end up chilling at the rail and mostly hovering, which is still cool, just not the most comfortable. The beers are reasonably priced and they have Pitcher and Bucket options. The food is just alright but it comes out pretty quick and soaks up the all the buddy lights you have been drinking.... I think that perfect for Sunday ball. They dont show all the games on, which can be annoying if you want to watch and "off-market game". Otherwise, a pretty cool place. The staff are amazing. Here I am ready to order food and I was told "the kitchen is close at 12AM on the weekends" Honestly it doesn't make sense because it was Saturday and the place was pack. Great place to eat and drink with friends! I've passed this place a million times on my way home from work and have always thought about stopping by. Last night I finally did. My friends and I got there around 7. The space is huge and there's either a bar area or huge table bench spaces for groups. We sat up top because we were a group of 6. The selection was good and the food was even better better. I read some reviews before bringing my friends here and saw people say the food was average. The food was awesome people! We got fried pickles. Tator tots, sweet potato fries and lots of wings. All of the food was eaten and well worth it. We also got a pitcher of beer for the table and started playing Jenna. I wish I could give this place zero stars to be honest. I tried to come here a week ago with a friend and had the worst experience. As I was trying to enter the bar, a group of friends were coming out as we were going in.. because of that, I didn't see the bouncer and assumed that he was on the inside portion of the bar. Upon opening the door, I felt someone forcefully grab me and pull me backwards. I noticed it was the bouncer who I by no means was trying to "sneak by." I just genuinely didn't see him. Anyway, I was super taken aback and asked the bouncer (cordially) to please not grab me in the manner that he did. He proceeded to aggressively say "what did you say?" twice. I repeated myself without hesitation because after all no one should forcefully grab anyone in the manner that the bouncer grabbed me. He then proceeded to grab me tightly around my shoulder and physically shove me out of the bar to the point where I fell into my friend. At the end of the day, he could have thought that I was trying to sneak in or something like that, and if so, yell out at me or even tap me on the shoulder....But do not forcefully grab and pull me backwards. It's uncalled for. My friend and I then contacted management to notify them about the situation, but the odd thing was that the manager didn't seem to believe us. He continued to state that he was at the location that night and didn't hear about any issues. He then asked for our contact info and said he'd reach out again but never did. For that, I am writing this review. So.. all in all, I do not intend to return to this bar again nor will I ever recommend it to friends or family. Definitely not a loss. Are usually order the mix appetizer platter their fried pickles are on point the battery is always crispy but never super oily like your stomach is going to turn after having a few. On the Grand National Yelp page I wrote a book like review and after the change I can still write the same. That's a good sign. Came here this Friday night with a huge group of friends for my boyfriend's 30th and everyone in this place were awesome. I had been in contact with Carl to set everything up and he accommodated every request. All around awesome customer service. The food is still great, the drinks are great, and good balance of music in the background. Carl and the whole staff are awesome & such friendly people! You can't ask for better! Contacted them the night before New Year's Eve to confirm if we needed to make a reservation for one of the booths or if it was first come first serve. The guy told me first come first serve. Bought a party of 5 there, walked into an empty bar. Maybe 10 people in there total. Saw that all booths had signs that said reserved and asked the guy that I spoke with the night before (he confirmed that it was him) why would he say it's first come first serve?
