Today we walked the River Cam from Cambridge, and we ended up at The Bridge in Waterbeach. We…read moreabsolutely loved everything from the moment we walked into the restaurant to the moment we left satiated and enriched. The wood fires were lit, the ambiance was warm and very friendly, the people were welcoming and kind, and we chose to dine outside due to the great Saturday October 16 weather. Everything was perfect from the appetizer to the main meal to the dessert. Sitting along with River Cam was ever so pleasant as well as enjoying the delicious food. The gnocchi was savory, the bass dish perfect, and the hunter chicken was perfectly cooked. The IPAs were welcomed, and the music was great. Thank you to everyone at The Bridge.

This is a lovely country restaurant/pub, both in the summer (when its riverside location makes it…read moreincredibly busy) and in the winter, sitting inside the cosy pub with the fire on. The food is really tasty (although not cheap) and it's certainly more on the 'gastro' pub tip than the traditional pub fodder. You can't make reservations - and finding a table in summer can be tricky. A few times we've turned up only to drive elsewhere because there were no spaces. But when we have found a table it's been definitely worth the wait. The location and food are fantastic! Another bonus in my opinion (although it will annoy others) is that the outdoors area is non-smoking. So while other pub outdoor areas have become hangouts for smokers (I guess they've got to go somewhere!), those who hate cigarettes (like myself) can still enjoy a lovely summer's day outside. In the winter the pub is pretty quiet, like many seasonal watering holes. My partner and I celebrated our birthdays here in March - and were so impressed by the friendly, helpful staff! They were really sweet and accommodating, found places for our fairly big party, sang 'happy birthday' and made our evening really special.

This is a great little pub which somehow manages to squeeze in a wide selection of real ales, some…read moreinexpensive, hearty food, and a dart board! There are two bars, one of which is the sporting area and holds the telly and dart board and is kitted out in dark wood throughout. The other bar is comfier with cushioned chairs and stools, lots of beer paraphernalia on the walls, there is also a real fire which is extremely welcoming on a cold winters afternoon. In the summer you can use the beer garden at the rear which is surprisingly large given the location. It is worth noting that at lunchtime, food is served noon until two, but its best not to get there too late. The food is uber-traditional, from excellent soup and sandwiches with home-cooked ham to more substantial dishes such as lasagne, and just about everything comes with excellent chips. As mentioned above the beer is varied and is also kept exceptionally well in my opinion. There is normally a choice of around five real beers on tap, ranging from a porter to much lighter choices, plus a couple of lagers. All in all, the world would be a better place if all pubs where like the Red Lion!

Frustrating and very disappointed on our day trip to No Hurry in…read more Arrived there at 13:00 with our person supported 2x wheelchair user . Serving food only at the garden which is great because its sunny. Found a bench we can seat on. GOT IGNORED multiple times and no signs for what to do when you want order. After 20 mins seating and looking like a thwat we manage to ask where can we order. She told us that they are not taking orders for the next 30 mins, then proceed to walk away no explanation after that. Sooooo rude!!!! Eventually we catch the attention of one of the young waitress, ordered drinks and she kindly explained why can't we order food. She said to wait for 15 mins then hand us the menu upon my colleague request. After waiting for 1hr and 30mins and finishing our drinks we decided to just leave. Felt ignore, discriminate at and very hungry. Within the times we were waiting new costumers coming in and staff are accomodating them, asking for their orders and bring out FOOD. We visit and eat here a lot before the pandemic start because of the scenery, food and staff accomodating dietary needs. This might be the very last day that i will take our person supported.

Doesn't appear that this fine pub has any recent reviews - not to be overlooked though!…read more We looked around for something spicy on our recent visit to Cambridge (and had Indian the night prior), and The Wrestlers came up. Fairly buddy on a Thursday night but the bar host seated us. The menu has the usual curries and noodle dishes; order at the bar. Portions are generous, flavorful, and showed up quickly. A variety of drafts, wine, and soft drinks to complete the meal. A little noisy but manageable; enjoy!

The Wrestlers, where British pub atmosphere and Thai cuisine come together in Cambridge…read more It's located along a busy stretch of Newmarket Road, walkable by 20 minutes from the main part of town or accessible via car park near the superstore. The building itself functioned as a public house as early as the 1800s, but has since been updated in furnishings and food fare--Thai, to be exact. With the exception of pub Prawn Crackers, there are no starters, just mains. Straightforward and no frills. Find your seat, order at the bar. Each plate will cost between £9 and £11. We both got Pud Thai; one with vegetables and cashews and the other with beef. The portions are large and I had to pack the rest of mine in a takeaway box. As it's a pub, prepare for noise and difficulty finding seats around dinnertime. Luckily we came earlier for lunch. I didn't order a drink this time, but they have the standard selection of cask ales and cidres to go with your meals.
