The outdoor atmosphere is great with all the snow around! Cedar cabin is very comfortable with a very nice fireplace and very spacious for 2. There was a mini fridge, keurig machine (Kcups provided), coffee maker (coffee provided), microwave & toaster provided. We brought our HDMI adapter hookup TV to tablet and watched movies at night by the fireplace, everything worked. There's restaurants around the cabin in under 5 mins. Hungry Trout was great if you looking for a romantic dinner & Pourman's Taphouse had great pizza with a great selection of IPA & DIPA beers! Country Bear had the perfect breakfast! Attractions are under 5mins away ! Santa's Workshop North Pole, Adirondack Chocolates & Adirondack Wildlife Refuge Mobil Gas station is under 5mins away too! Whiteface mountain is under 5 mins away which is perfect for skiing! They have "sushi sundays" & french onion soup! Yann is great in communication & always available during the stay! We were visiting family in Wilmington and decided to go out one night. It was a snowy Saturday and parking was tough. Fortunately, something opened up fast. We were seated right away at a table in the bar area. Staff was friendly and worked fast. The dinner selection is not low-fat or vegetarian but perfect if you've just spent the days outdoors. I ordered the stuffed pork chops which would easily serve two. Great comfort food! My husband had a prime rib that he loved. The salad bar didn't offer a ton of fresh veggies but had a decent selection. The wine list wasn't great but we didn't expect it to be. Mostly grocery store types of wines. The dessert (chocolate lava cake) was big enough for two and tasted great. Not gourmet but hit the spot. This is a great place to take a hungry family after a long day of skiing. You won't go away hungry. If you want a higher-end, gourmet option, head into Lake Placid. I'll open with this- we ate at the howard johnsons the day after we ate here and the hojo`s was better..... We ate here on a Friday night in April so everything else in the area was closed. I won't even talk about decor because unless someplace is very dirty, I don't care what it looks like. It will be sufficient just to mention that the interior reminded me of eating at my grandmother's house twenty years ago. We were seated by a nice older lady who gave us the menus then disappeared. A very young man filled our water glasses. Then after a good while, another lady came to take our order. So, despite being basically the only table in the restaurant (not counting the several old ladies enjoying the bar lol), service was slow. The salad bar, which came with three of our meals, was small: lettuce, a few dressings, fake bacon bits, and weird options like pasta salads. The food was subpar despite its appearance. I ordered the stuffed chicken breast: the baked potato was standard and therefore fine, the veg medley was not seasoned and no doubt from frozen. The chicken breast was dry, topped with a piece of floppy bacon and stuffed with a simple bread and celery stuffing. The cranberry sauce was straight out of the can- ridges and all. $16.99ish.... He ordered trout. It was cooked fine but needed salt and came with rice and the same sad vegetable medley. $16.99ish as well One of the kids ordered "chopped sirloin steak" off of the kids menu for 10.95. It was a plain hamburger patty. No bun, no adornments, just a patty. And fries. The other kid got mozzarella sticks which weren't bad. The fireplace was very well set up and a wonderful addition to our stay, because it was a chilly weekend! Customer service was outstanding! It was one of the best places we've ever stayed! Our cabin was lovely and very clean. The fireplace was an added bonus. However, when we arrived there was no key for the cabin and we had to get one delivered to the restaurant on the property. Turns out that was the master key and there were no other spares. We were asked to leave the master key at the restaurant when we went out the following day while a copy was to be made of our cabin key. When we returned there was no key at all and, since we couldn't get in to our cabin, we had to kill a couple of hours while someone returned with the master key again. After we checked out I realized I had left my winter jacket in the cabin. I offered to cover all expenses and more to get the jacket returned to me. After weeks of texting back and forth with two different people, there was no jacket and no tracking number. Now two months later, it is lost. The last text I sent received no reply. I went back and forth between one star and two starts, but ultimately the price and the fact that this restaurant thinks it's better than it really is pushed me to the one star. I'm ok if you aren't a 5 star restaurant, but please don't pretend to be if you aren't. 1) Salad bar has a meaning, please look it up. It does not mean one bowl of iceburg lettuce with no other vegetables whatsoever and a handful of dressing options. That is not a salad bar, that is lettuce. They mean different things. I wanted an actual salad, and expected an actual salad, and got iceburg lettuce in a bowl. Not cool. 2) A steakhouse should keep all of their steaks in stock. Being out of filet is not impressive in the slightest. 3) My baked potato was undercooked. Seriously, this is the easiest part of the meal to get right. 4) Our steaks were not seasoned at all, at the very least throw some salt and pepper on there before you cook it. 5) The decor is just weird. 6) The women's bathroom doesn't lock properly and several people got walked in on. This is something that shouldn't be broken for longer than 10 minutes. Come on! You are just being lazy here. 7) The servers seemed confused about who was serving which table. They kept saying back and forth "are you getting their drinks or am I?" or "did you grab their order or should I do it?" I don't want to hear your logistical issues. Please decide behind the scenes which employees are in charge of what. It seemed to happen all night and we had multiple people at our table at different times. Get it together. 8) We spent less money at the Boat House in Lake Placid and had a 5 star meal in a great location the next night. Absolutely will never go there again. The cabin reeked of mold, ended up coughing and sneezing, and could barely breathe. There were mouse droppings on the table, and when we heard mice in the walls, and saw them in the vents we asked for a refund and left as fast as we could. The low price BARELY makes it worth the deplorable state of the interior and furniture, but even if the infestation is cleaned up we would have regretted paying even that much for the cabin. read more

My boyfriend and I were sent here by a local motel keeper and given 10% off as part of the recomendation. It wasn't really our style, we're in our late 20's and the ambiance was more late 50's/60's. The menu was uninventive and it took the waitress about 10 beers to name something more unique than a Bud Light. Very friendly service, very unique decor, quaint, cozy. Food is classic. Prices are a little high, arguably, but it's a tourist town and they certainly aren't out of line for the area. This place is old-fashioned - in a good way. Not a great option for a hipster millennial vegan, but good option for anyone else. A very solid family-owned business owned and operated by a wonderful family (I'm a local). I've been going there for 30 years and look forward to my next visit. read more
