Boy am I lucky. My son and soon to be daughter in law gifted us with a HUGE assortment of goodies. Pecan Pie...yum. These huge caramel pecan cookies...yum yum. An assortment of flavors of fudge. They made me go pay First and I noticed the people that were right behind me. They gave them their ice cream and their yellow ticket and they didn't have to pay first. That was really weird to me. Lots of locals know this as the former Smith farms. Still the same great farm vegetables and fruit with lots of jellies and fresh baked goods. There is a real difference in great taste and smells of items sold here and those in the grocery stores. The staff seemed to be students mostly, eager to help. The ice cream store is still attached, but the flavors seemed lacking and the atmosphere kind of sad. We passed and went to UDF instead. read more

I'd been to one of the stands and was down this way so stopped in. It's much bigger, of course, and there's a big parking lot. Signage on one end says Smith's Market so I wasn't sure I was at the right place, but the other signs say Witten's. I'd hoped for corn, and they had a little, but it's late season and it was pretty small ears so I passed. They did have tomatoes and other good produce. Plus a ton of pies, candy, drinks, pumpkins, mums, and more. It was busy on a weekday afternoon. Prices are maybe a little high but it's good stuff. I've bought produce at Witten's before it became Witten. Their sweet corn is the best, hands down, anywhere in Central Ohio. I love that they have kiosks open around town too. Their fresh baked pies are delicious especially crumb topped cherry. Just about anything that can be locally grown and harvested is available when in season. Larger grocery chains stock produce from global resources they cannot compete with the freshness and quality that is available at Witten's. read more

It went well love this place I pre ordered a sugar free pie for my husband's 71 birthday then the day to pick it up came and my car needed emergency maintenance so I had to call them twice to make sure they would hold onto it. And they did and they are so nice and hospitality is wonderful. This is a great spot near Obetz where you can pick up pumpkins, fresh corn on the cob, potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, and other veggies. They have a bakery, ice cream, and local Ohio made items throughout. It was a great little stop this afternoon when looking for fresh local produce. read more

The prices go up and the quality keeps going down. I grew up on Smith's Farm Market on Winchester Pike. On Saturdays and Sundays you could barely move around in there as people piled in to get the farm fresh produce and the aroma of the Pies being baked drew lines. When Wittens took over it was still nice and the new enclosed market made it nice too. There aren't as many selections of produce as it used to be. Over the last couple years including this year the quality has gone downhill. The corn was so bad last year it appeared to be corn that is usually fed to livestock. Hoping it would be better this year it proves to still lack in the quality they used to have. We bought the Rainier cherries at 6.99 per lb and got home to find 2/3rds of them were rotten and we were very upset. They should be ashamed to even put anything like that out for sell to the public. I bought green bell peppers there last week that went bad in a day. We are not used to this from Wittens and whoever they are buying their corn and fruit from these last couple years, we hope they will rethink it. I will give them kudos on the customer service of their employees. Now let's match the quality of the products to that outstanding customer service again. Please! read more

I was frustrated with the area's weekly farmers markets this year - mostly not anyone's fault, but due to the restrictions of COVID-19, there were fewer vendors, and the proximity of that many people made me uncomfortable, so I decided to check out some of the area's "farm markets," which weren't as limited in terms of open hours. Boy am I glad I did. Smith Farm Market is not very close to where I live, but it's worth the extra time for travel. First off: tomatoes. Being able to walk in and right there is a big basket of Brandywines, my favorite summer treat. An assortment of other heirloom varieties, so many different ones they require a chart with descriptions so you can decide what to get. Big fat green tomatoes to sate my fried green tomato addiction. Boxes of Romas and San Marzanos to turn into tomato confit. I was in heaven. Then the rest of the vegs. I roasted whole beets for the first time (a bit of a pain, to be honest, but I enjoyed the challenge.) Fresh Brussels sprouts well ahead of Thanksgiving. Potatoes, onions, zucchini, eggplant, cucumbers - you name it. Finally the baked goods. Someone else here said the pies are frozen - well, if they are, they're better frozen pies than I've had anywhere else, ever. And the prices are amazing, especially given the quality. I'm in danger, because they offer a "pie lovers" card that nets you a free pie after purchase of 10. (Half pies count, too, so you can tell yourself "it's only half a pie.") The lemon crunch pie is the BEST (think lemon meringue pie, only with a crumble topping instead of meringue.) Sweet corn biscuits are delightful topped with honey and butter, although they tend to fall apart. The people are very nice and helpful, and when I was accidentally overcharged for something they apologized and quickly made it right. I'm dreading the end of the produce season, but I will definitely be back next year. May even wean me off of the limited farmer's markets completely. read more

I really enjoyed this place! Lots of homemade goodies and fresh fruits and vegetables. The shortcake with berries was one of the best things Ive ever eaten! The corn (you can husk right there!), pasta salad, heirloom tomato and blackberry pie were off the charts delicious! We also tried the buckeyes, turtles, corn muffins, cut up cheese and meat container and caramel apple pie. The real STARS were mentioned above though. Definitely a fan! read more

We passed this market on the way to do some hiking and made a note to stop by on the way back. It was well worth a visit! There was a nice selection of items, much of which was locally made, and everything I looked at was Ohio made. Since we were planning a cook-out that evening, we eagerly picked up fresh corn and watermelon from the large produce section, and we enjoyed looking at some of the more unique varieties of items, such as the tomatoes, that you don't see in a standard grocery store. The huge dessert section could not be overlooked, and we ended up with a nice selection: slices of pecan pie and cherry crunch pie, and giant cookies in celebration (sprinkles and mini M&Ms) and triple chocolate chunk. There are a couple of refrigerators with meat and dairy, plus prepared items like pasta and potato salads, and we opted for yellow cheese curds and a smoked gouda. Everything has been much enjoyed! There's also a fun corn-on-the-cob chair (throne?) out front by where the corn was, which was a nice touch. The staff was friendly and efficient, baskets and carts are located in the front, and there was plentiful parking available in the lot. read more

Stopped by here on a Saturday to get some fresh fruit. I love farm hopping on the weekends around Columbus. The city has a lot of little gems to explore. This one I would go to with my grands as a child and kind of forgot all about it. Their blackberries were to die for and they even had a sample basket out for use to try before we buy. I enjoyed all of the things that they had out for us. Inside there is even a bakery for baked goods and ice cream. Grabbed a nice cone for the road and a sugar cookie. Grade: B+ read more

The harvest is in, and Witten Farm Market/Smith Farms has the freshest, best tasting produce ever! I just finished making sauteed eggplant for dinner. The eggplant was super fresh and tasted wonderful. Other exceptional produce I've bought there this summer includes peaches, plums, nectarines, candy onions (red and yellow), sweet corn, watermelon, red bell peppers, new potatoes and cantelope. It's a safe place to shop during the pandemic: the new building is open air; masks and social distancing are required; hand sanitizer and disposable gloves are available, and checkout counters are wide enough to maintain a safe distance. read more

This used to be my favorite and here's why: The bakery The chicken salad The tuna salad The mustard eggs The wine selection I went there today 8/1/2020 and the chicken salad is way different. Didn't see tuna salad. Didn't see wines. Didn't see mustard eggs. Didn't see our side produce like they used to have a flowers and plants. I guess it's still a cool place but definitely not the same place. I will go somewhere else ( I won't say where here) but sorry Smiths, you lost me on your makeover. Good market. I like that it's stationary and not a mobile wagon, like their others. Great Quality produce. Prices aren't the best, but reasonable. The exterior is primarily under cover for inclimate weather. Gives it a nice airy feel. They adjoin to a bakery space that also sells wines. Pretty decent selection of both. You will also find several local honey products. Go for some fresh farm produce. Grab a pie for dessert, and a sweet treat to nosh on the way home. I absolutely love this place! I stopped here a couple years ago randomly and thought it was cute. We recently stopped by on our way back from a trip to Athens County, and picked up quite a few items and really enjoyed everything--desserts, popcorn, salsa, aiolis, snacks. I really loved their salsa and both their pesto and southwestern aiolis, and decided to drop by last weekend after seeing that they had expanded. All I can say is WOW!! The new barn that they are selling out expands the business by at least 4x larger and the offerings are amazing! It's almost overwhelming how many different bakery, produce, dairy, pantry, plant, flower, cold items that they offer! I picked up really pretty Zinnia plant and a few vegetable plants for my garden. I also grabbed a slice of cherry pie for my husband that he loved. MORE salsas because their mild salsa is absolutely KILLER--its olive-based and I don't even like olives and I love it! haha. I watched a video they had posted of their new cold drink offerings and purchased all of those in the video! They were delicious, just as described. I purchased fresh strawberries, blueberries, tomatoes, a brownie.....I honestly can't even remember ALL of it but I had a overflowing cart. Its about 25 minutes away from where I live, but I am already thinking that this is going to be a weekly trip for me. Despite their middle-of-nowhere location on Winchester Pike, Smith Farm Market is the kind of place you hope never closes. They stock an unreal amount of seasonal fruits and veggies. Truckloads (yes, actual truckloads) of sweet corn sit next to a giant tent of tomatoes, melons, peaches, berries and potatoes. And I recently saw what had to have been the largest bell pepper on earth while shopping there. Aside from produce, the market also bakes pies and other desserts. The smell is all-consuming when you walk in. They also have a small grocery section with various Ohio-produced foods like milk, eggs and canned goods. This is my usual source for local honey. On the left side of the property, they have a smoker and are serving up pulled, smoked meats. Killer! Smith Farm Market almost manages to be a one-stop farm market. read more

Having just moved to Columbus from Amish country in Pennsylvania where there were tons of farmers markets and pumpkin farms, I had no idea where to get my Autumn's fix of pumpkin and gourd shopping but I knew I didn't want to just get one from the grocery store! A quick internet search led me to Smith's, so I made the trek down there and I am glad I did. THIS is what Halloween season is for me. An abundance of pumpkins on bales of hay, tons of different gourds and squash, fresh apples and cider. It's certainly more expensive to get them at a place like this than at the grocery store, but the experience is worth it for me, as well as the selection. Like choosing the perfect Christmas tree, every family has their own favorite pumpkin shape. I'm partial to really ugly gourds with as many lumps and bumps as possible, so I was excited to see they had a decent selection for me to choose the ugliest of the bunch. I didn't get to try any of the baked goods in the store, but they looked delicious. But if there's anyone else out there like me, looking for that Fall pumpkin fix, I highly recommend giving them a try. read more

I love this place! It's fun to visit here on a weekend morning or afternoon when you have enough time to really look at everything they have. They sell very fresh produce (my favorite things from here are the watermelon and the heirloom tomatoes). They also sell so much other yummy stuff... salsas, honey products, baked goods, meats, flavored milk, etc. If you come here, you MUST purchase a pie. You can purchase by the slice or a whole pie (I forget if they do half pies). The pie is heaven on earth. The strawberry shortcake dessert that they make is also bangin. read more

Two words: Pumpkin cookies. If you've never had a pumpkin cookie from Smith's, I highly recommend that you plan a trip soon to taste these cookies for yourself. They are hands down the best pumpkin cookies I have ever eaten. They are slightly crunchy around the edge, soft in the center and topped with a cream cheese frosting. Other than the pumpkin cookies, Smith Farm Market has a lot to offer. They have a huge selection of fresh, locally grown produce. During the fall, there is a huge pumpkin display set up outside with tons of pumpkins and gourds. They have an amazing bakery with tons of cookies, pies, fudge, breads and cupcakes. I haven't had a bad item from the bakery. My favorites are the pumpkin cookies, apple cinnamon scones and pumpkin bread. This is just an adorable market not to far from the center of Columbus. Yes, Smith farm Market from me you get a full 5 stars and I don't hand those out lightly! I love watching people making food and having nothing to hide which is the case here. She just put out a chocolate cream pie and told me that she went a little crazy on the chocolate and apologized for it looking a little off. Well that was the first thing I just had to buy. Not being a creamy fan, it wasn't my favorite of the bunch but the cream was fresh and real, the chocolate good and plentiful, in all delicious, I just prefer to have something to chew. They also had HUGE cupcakes for $1.25 each so of course I was not going to pass up on those. I got red velvet, chocolate and vanilla and they were very very good and the biggest and cheapest I have ever had. I probably wouldn't bother getting them again for the sole purpose of I was missing the excitement of something out of the ordinary. We are surrounded by buckeye, caramel, filled, any kind of cupcake you can imagine and these were just plain with a good frosting. Still nothing you can say anything bad about, just too boring for me. The cookies also great and cheap at 50 cent each but not earth shattering. Now to the REALLY REALLY good parts! HUGE brownies at $1.25 soft, fudgy, chocolaty goodness, truely the best brownies ever! Overgrown fresh, YUMMY buckeyes also the best ever at 85 cent each! The best cream cheese frosting on carrot cake ever, I would go back and get a tub of that cream cheese and just eat it all day long! The best part was sampling the fudge, OMG I have NEVER had fudge that good! I had it with peanut butter, with coconut and with caramel walnut and all were so darn good. I will be back ASAP to buy Fudge, which I didn't this time since I got so much already and for more brownies, buckeyes and frosting.
