They neglected to clean our carpet before moving in but are now trying to force us to pay to get the carpet professionally and to pay them an extra fee for it which makes no sense. None of our furniture was even set up when we moved in and after asking the landlord about that they never did anything so we had to put our dinner table and dressers together ourselves. If you're not renewing your lease the landlord will literally do back to back showings every day so strangers in your home showing up every day and they don't even show at the scheduled times so it's often inconvenient. Maintenance is a joke, it took them forever to do anything when we lost heat during negative degree winter days and all they did was drop off some space heaters. We asked them to come fix our fridge cause the freezer seal wouldn't stay shut and would often open by itself and defrost everything in our freezer, someone came to look at it but never came and that was literally a year ago. Even the people that live in these apartments are rude, I've run into so many rude neighbors it's just not worth it

He was extremely kind, personable, helpful, and if I was just rating his maintenance service it would be 5 stars. Jeremy completed more work orders for my apartment in two hours than had been done in two weeks. MVP of maintenance staff at Michigan East. I hope the rest of my work orders will be completed as well as Jeremy did his.

I am so happy to be moving out of this place after 2 years. One of the worst complexes I have ever…read morelived in. Maintenance orders take forever to get completed, and when they do the jobs they are done poorly or not completed. Example. The bathroom sink was leaking out the bottom. Took over a week for them to get to it. Then after they fixed it, it started leaking again. Waited another 2 weeks for them to come back. This time they put in a new sink. Never finished caulking around the sink though. There is black mold forming on the bathroom ceilings. Was already there when I moved in. Appliances are out dated, and anything replaced is cheap. Yesterday I got home from work to find a bunch of cat litter and cat poop right outside the entrance door to our building unit. Someone's trash bag ripped and decided not to clean it up. Called the office. They said they knew and put in a WORK ORDER!! Went to work this morning and the litter and crap is still there. I'm sorry, but that is ridiculous. Someone should have been sent to clean it up, not a work order. The outside lighting is horrible and gives the community an unsafe feeling. There are also vehicles sitting around the lots that have not moved in 8 months and no one has been in them. There is a car with a broken out window and no license plate, yet still sits there. Guessing most likely stolen vehicles that just get dumped, cause in Springfield stealing cars seems to be the cool thing to do. Management at this establishment has let this complex turn to crap the past couple years. Back in the day it may have been a pretty nice complex. But now it is overpriced and ran down.

Instead, I'm leaving it because I was just reported to collections by Chatham Hills without any prior notice in the mail for $1,500 in fees from moving out. They took the opportunity to replace absolutely everything in the apartment and ran with it. New carpet, drip pans, etc. I find it absurd that as a company they lack the integrity to take responsibility for the obvious structural shortcomings and fix up the apartment themselves. Instead, they took advantage of a previous tenant by sending them straight to collections to renovate the apartment. Do not live here under any circumstances. You as a human being deserve to live in a place that isn't infested to this degree. Also, give your rent money to a company with integrity and not people that are going to take advantage of you.

Dr. Leland McNeil is a slum lord offering college students high priced rent to live. I'm not in…read morecollege but I rent a 9 brm house that has been converted into 2 apartments. He moved his nephew in upstairs and neglected to add additional meters for the utilities and just expected me to pay for his nephew, who also pays no rent. The house has no insulation and they replaced some broken windows but the maintenance man isn't very knowledgeable and only half way does something due to costs so they were not sealed or insulated. They used used items to what they call remodel my home and painted it a god awful color or crap brown on the walls. There is mold all over the place, the roof leaks, water leaks and we also have a gas leak. When told all this stuff, he said he isn't doing it, it would cost too much money. Mind you, he drives around in a fancy Lexus but he will not fix a thing. There is also a hole in the floor which I've asked them to fix, which my husband fell because of it, which caused his death. He texts me every other day threatening to kick me out effective immediately, even though two days prior there was a totally different conversation when I threatened to take him to court. I've told him that it is against the law to make me pay his nephews utilities but he just says he's not his responsibility and it would cost too much money to run separate meters, so I have paid his utilities for a year tomorrow. He said he would make him move out but that never happened either. I had never met this guy before moving here, but now I'm responsible for supporting him. My power bill runs 3000.00 for the winter months and he will not winterize this place or make his freeloading nephew move out, even after repeatedly telling him that it is illegal. Today, I've had all I can take, I'm filing court paperwork to bring this man to justice. He takes advantage of everyone he rents to. He says he pays all utilities and garbage for all his units, but he certainly doesn't mine. He knows how high the bills are and he doesn't care, he expects to be paid for us to live unsafely in a dump. He tells us to fix the problems, on our dime of course. DO NOT RENT FROM HIM. He's a nightmare and claims he is back by an attorney for all he does. Must be just as crooked as he is, if he actually has one.
