Pet friendly patio was a huge plus which is in part why we chose this place. Ourt server was delightful and made great recommendations and brought us a little pup water bowl along with our waters. Food ordered: Onion rings Macaroni and cheese which is the good old kraft mac n cheese for kiddos. Rigatoni Jambalaya bowl Greek chicken salad with a lot of great vegetables. Green chick peas were tasty. Turkey melt Beet and grapefruit salad. Food selection was pretty decent, but prices were a bit steep. New place, so wanted to check it out. We decided to have happy hour with friends. We got there look nice. Sat outside at a 8 top. Friendly service, plus the 3 appetizers we had were delicious. We also had mixed drinks plus try out the "You pour your microbrew" Where they give you a card. You go pour your owe beer. They charge by the oz. Seems like a great idea. Just make sure you can pour your brew correctly. You still pay foam. I like the place alot and recommend the Woods. However outside on the far side by the side parking lot. Beware of the walkway. Their is a dropoff. You could fall and hurt yourself. I noticed a few people didn't catch that and stumble. Hopefully management will place a yellow tap to bring attention to the dropoff. The old reviews on this place are not accurate. Also, the reviews on The Woods Event Center are also not accurate. This is for the restaurant that is now called B*Merri. First I don't like the name ... ok that is my only real complaint here. They did a really nice remodel of the space and it has a cool up north, cabin, industrial feel that just works. They have a full bar, and a wall of tap beers that you can pour your own samples with a card that tracks your use. This is a fun (but not inexpensive way to try a bunch of interesting beers). I would call the food Gastro Pub, ranging from slightly elevated bar food classics to more refined dinners. There burgers are all good and are pretty unique. I have tried several sandwiches, and liked each of them better than the burgers. The real surprise was a dinner here where the Broiled Walleye was one of the best that I have had and the Braised Short Rib was very tender with a nice Port glaze. Each soup that we have tried has been good and homemade, as are the salad dressings. We will be had to try more things, but wish they were closer since they would become our go to local spot. read more

Our party of 11 ate here July 1st. We sat at a long table outside which was great. Our server was excellent! The food was perfect! We live nearby and this is the first time we have had this level of food and service. I believe Be Merri has new owners and a new chef. Excellent. read more

Unfortunately, I will be remembering this restaurant and not for good reasons. Although the decor is well done, my experience here was less than good. First, we began by waiting 5-10 minutes at the host stand to be seated as no one was there. Secondly, my food as well as my friends never came with the sides we were told came with our food. When we mentioned this to the waitress, she said she would go get it. 15 minutes later, she came back and said she was sorry it took so long but still... no food. Our fries and bread was never brought out to us and there was no apology. Also, drink refills never came. We then ordered dessert since we only got half of our meal, but the restaurant was out of all dessert items. Thirdly, the waitress had our cards for 25 minutes as we were trying to pay our bills. She came back with only 2 cards and then spent another 15 minutes with the other two cards. As she returned she told me my card was declined so I payed her cash while I checked with my bank to find the issue. My bank told me that she charged my card already and that it was never declined. I then had to hunt down the waitress to show her that she had already charged me so I could get my cash back. The waitress then told me she said my card was declined because she ran out of paper receipts which I then explained to her that that was fine but that she was charging me for my meal twice by doing that, and also startled me because my card never really had any issues. Overall, the evening was very unpleasant. I am a server myself, and I am usually very understanding but this experience was by far the worst I have ever had. read more

We had a "celebration of life" weekend for 33 family members coming in from 5 other states the weekend of August 3rd. We used motel rooms, the "house", and had 2 meals catered. They were so incredibly accommodating!!! We loved that they were "dog friendly". The "house" is gorgeous! We actually had our service in the living room (they helped us set up media for the event). We asked for a special recipe our catered dinner, which they made, and was delicious! The food was SO good and more than enough!! We also have gone up there to eat at the restaurant. We love the gorgeous wood interior, but if it's nice we so enjoy sitting on their cute outside patio. You just can't go wrong for any event or meal!! A huge thank you to all of their staff! We came here here on the 21st is March for our 35 th anniversary. We were here about a a month ago and we had the short ribs. They were excellent. So we came back for our special day. The baked potato was huge 6 in long and it was not done and the butter was hard. The short ribs were as good as last time but only 2 ribs not even half the size as the potato for $26 . I had all you can eat special, hard or soft shell tacos. I asked for soft. I received 3 that were grilled crispy. and if I wasted another one it's $2 does that sound like all you can eat??? My daughter had her wedding at The Woods in early October 2021. The facility and wait staff were great (this is why I am giving 2 stars instead of one star). However the person who was "in charge" for the wedding was not good. She did not seem interested in making sure things were ok throughout the event. The food was ok, but, it's hard to cut steak without steak knives. Cake cutting, my daughter and her new husband had no plate or forks. Considering the cost, in addition to the meal cost $2,500 for the room (effectively increasing the meal cost by 50%). Plus, the bill had an additional 18% general fee and another 18% gratuity before the event started (36% total). The contract said we could decide on a gratuity, that was a lie. I would NOT recommend this facility for a wedding. read more

Wow the atmosphere of this restaurant is unique. The wood theme is very creative. We had the bruschetta appetizer and it was so special. An oblong plate offered all kinds of options to put on the French bread. The lobster bisque was creamy and had lots of lobster. I inadvertently left my credit card there and the next day I called and they saved it. Awesome, friendly staff. I love the place. read more

First time here and likely the last. Shrimp scampi was tough and didn't taste fresh, non spectacular salad and luke warm mashed potatoes. Hubby had pasta and said it was good but he also likes tuna helper. The server checked on us once and then back to her laptop. Last night we had a large party after main dinner rush. I wasn't to sure about it when entered and took a long time for beverages and before we could order dinner. When the order was taken I heard "we are out of that" a number of times on general menu items... I ordered the chicken cordon blue with a baked potato. I was kinda surprised no bread or dinner salads for the table. The food arrive all in fairly decent time and everyone was served at the same time (14 people). Presentation was great. I was miffed that I got a plastic pocket of sour cream instead of in a ramekin. Taste was wonderful! The honey mustard sauce was awesome and the flavor was excellent. Chicken was a tad dry and tough but not a show stopper. The beans were good. My baked potato was cooked but was cold. Like butter not melt and could tell it had been in the fridge. For dessert I shared the woods cake! It was wonderful!!!! Only if an after pic! Would go there Soley to the cake Others were very satisfied with thier meal. The burger with prime rib on it and the Reuben were the most talked about. A couple people had missed sides such as fries with thier sandwich and mushrooms/onions for thier steak. Easily one of the worst experiences at a restaurant I've ever had. Had a party of 8 and had to wait for nearly an hour and a half for food to come out. Had a waitress who could've cared less about helping us or notifying us that they were understaffed and food would be behind. When the food came out it was just as bad as the service. My prime rib was overcooked and had myoglobin all over it. The chips I ordered were soggy and inedible. On a night the prime rib was a special they had the audacity to charge 28 dollars for such a poor quality product. Never will go back to this restaurant . Piss poor performance. read more

My wife and I had an excellent meal! The server was cheerful and on top of things, filling our drinks as soon as we emptied them. We had the best Scotch Eggs we've found anywhere. So. Tried The Woods. Beautiful place inside. They have really done a nice job. The pile of wood wall is really cool. Food portions are medium to large for the money. I had a salmon Caesar salad which I thought would be a neat combo. The dressing didn't have much flavor of caesar. There were no croutons. There were red onions, cucumbers, hard boiled eggs, and tomatoes. Not exactly what I expected. Maybe change the name of it to a salmon Cobb salad. My wife had the oriental chicken salad. Dressing was really sweet and it had a lot of mandarin oranges. Too much sweet and not enough savory. I did see a couple of ladies that ordered fish sandwiches and they looked humongous. A lot of fish for the money. I wish this place well and hope that this constructive criticism is taken well. We will come back and try other things on the menu. read more

Great atmosphere! Too bad they kept the same executive chef. The bacon-wrapped shrimp appetizer was so tough it was like chewing rubber bands. The fish fry special, was not so special. Over-cooked and so dry that even the bland tartar sauce couldn't help moisten it. And as for their "signature" blue cheese potato salad? We stopped at The Woods last weekend just on a whim, going in not expecting really anything, mostly we just didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised! It was remodeled beautifully, the wood accents everywhere were incredible! We started with the Pretzel Sticks with Beer Cheese Dip... yum and paired perfectly with a beer! For dinner I got the Oriental Chicken Wrap; a sun dried tomato tortilla shell with chicken, lettuce, mandarin oranges and a warm bacon vinaigrette. It was amazing, the tortilla shell was packed with flavor and the homemade potato chips on the side were killer! I want those in a bag from a store so I can eat them when I want! My husband had the cod dinner with the au gratin potatoes, and let me tell you my husband is picky with his potatoes... there were no onions which he loved and he thought they tasted like something that came out of my kitchen! Bonus! For dessert we tried two options (we couldn't agree on one!) Hubby had the better than sex cake, he said they only thing that would have made it better than sex would have been ice cream! I had the interactive S'mores! Yes, roast your own s'mores from your table, dessert... a place after my own heart! We will be going back for that reason alone! Ha! Our service was a little slow, but I will attribute that to it being new with new employees. Never again! Gave them a first shot and was disappointed at the quality of the food for what we had to pay for a couple burgers. Tried their "fish boil" and got even more screwed. Only thing fresh seemed to be the potatoes.... and you can't screw that up. The fish was dry....and barely received any for the price... and nasty. The corn was obviously frozen and purchased at the local grocery store. The onions were obviously canned and the carrots were store purchased. The only other thing with flavor was the"sausage' and you got three bites. The butter was hard by the time we got our meal..... had to order more and wait. NOT IMPRESSED. WILL NOT GO BACK.
