Woods always has great service, a good pour and good food. There is usually live music on the weekend and it it usually very busy. Their burgers are always good. I really like the wiener pizza too. I would rather get it over ordering the wieners. The wieners are a little different than other places as they use toasted hot dog buns. We stopped in for a quick dinner and had a great meal. There were 5 of us in our party and everyone enjoyed their meal. We loved the penne a la vodka, the pretzels for an appetizer, and the creamy sun dried tomato pasta. Our waitress was very friendly and quick with her service, checking on us regularly. Stopped in for a bite to eat, a cocktail and to listen to some music. Was very busy when we arrived, the wait was approximately 20 minutes for a table. We were sat at a high top table near the music. Which is fine for us because we love live music. We were greeted very quickly and asked if we wanted drinks. I ordered a cider on tap and a glass of water. Was very surprised to get my beer in a clear plastic cup. I found this to be very poor taste. It's okay for an outside barbecue at home with friends or even with a top on it for a kids drink. But not a beer for an adult who is sitting at a table having dinner. And wasn't sure if it was because we were near the music but looked around at all the tables near us and most had glass pint glasses for their beers. I ordered the chicken sandwich special, grilled chicken with fresh mozzarella, tomato, basil and balsamic glaze. If it weren't for the not ripe piece of tomato on my sandwich it would have been amazing. Still very good, loved the taste of the fresh basil. Not a traditional side to order with it but I got the mashed potatoes, they were very good. My boyfriend ordered the chicken bacon ranch cutlet, Breaded chicken cutlet deep-fried served on a brioche roll with cheddar cheese, bacon, ranch, lettuce and tomato. He loves this sandwich, orders it every time. The night we went that had a guy playing the guitar. He was amazing!! Crowd loved him. This is a great place to meet up with friends for a drink or a bite to eat. It does get very crowded so I would be prepared to wait a bit for a table. But honestly it is worth the wait. We went to Woods Tavern on the Coventry/West Greenwich line. It has sandwiches, burgers, pizza as well as entrees. Sandwiches were served with handcut fries which were good. My Buffalo Chicken sandwich was messy good - and you could smell the hot! We also had Pulled Pork sandwich. Personally, I thought it could have used more pork. Seemed a bit thin. The first couple of times I came here when they first opened I was unimpressed. The food was average at best and overpriced. As a result, I stayed away for a long time. Then the Coventry Little League team was on their way to the Little League World Series and the first games in the New England regional were not available on TV, but Woods was not only showing the game, but giving a portion of the profits to the team to help defray costs. So, I went with my kids and we not only enjoyed the sense of community, but the food and prices. What a turn around. Everything about the experience was great. We came back for every game and we were never disappointed by the great, friendly service, tasty food or the prices. It became a new favorite for our family after that. And when my son's Coventry all star basketball team needed a fund raiser, guess who stepped up and hosted a great pasta and meatballs event where we raised enough money to defray all costs for our team? Woods again. We eat out here at least once a week now. Because of that, I can tell you that they are always coming up with new things to eat and drink and changing recipes as well for the better. The menu is diverse and there are always good specials, lots of great choices every week, great service, great prices, and great support of local teams and causes. You can not go wrong here now. My husband and I tried this place tonight. Drinks were strong!and tasty! I had woods coffee, a cold drink and really good! The Fox was delicious ans a good portion. I had the stuffed chicken breast with potato and green beans which was really good, hubby had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and green beans. I tasted it, it was also very good, nice portion size and savory. Definitely a Townie kind of spot but not in a bad way. Great service, and prices were average but fair. There was entertainment setting up but I couldn't find anything about it online. We didn't get to see you who it was that was there setting up to play. This is a big place, just about a dozen or so tables, maybe more, mostly a lot of high tops and the bar. It was comfortable though and we will probably go back again because the menu had a lot of good options. They even had some vegetarian options. All in all, good prices, good service and good food. I went with my father while visiting family from Pennsylvania. This is going to be our go-to spot while visiting from now on! He said his fish and chips were perfect! I had the pad Thai. One thing I want to note (will add a photo) is that the website states both pasta dishes under the vegetarian/vegan section are in fact vegan, when only the pad Thai is vegan on the restaurant menu. It seems to have been flipped. The Pad Thai was DELICIOUS. I always have a snack before going to a restaurant because I expect vegan food to be small portions and not that great. I was wrong! The bowl was huge and I could barely finish half. The rice noodles were great, with a delicious peanut sauce. The vegetables on top were also perfectly cooked. I'm not a fan of cooked broccoli, but I ate every piece. I saw on Happy Cow that they used to have cauliflower tacos. I wish I was able to try them as they do look delicious. Unbelieveably awesome people! Tl-dr version: They 1000% saved me when I was far from home and lost my rental car keys late at night. So, I rolled in at 10 pm on a Saturday night, after a 6 hour flight, hoping to get a quick bite before checking in to my hotel. The bartender very nicely told me the kitchen had closed, so I went back to my rental car. Somehow, the car key had fallen out of its holder (electric car, so it was a stupid card, instead of a key), and I was stranded. The bartender saw me looking everywhere in the parking lot for 15 minutes, and sent out a server or busboy to help me. She didn't ask, and just saw a clueless moron who might have needed help, and decided to do what her staff could do to assist.... And I hadn't even ordered anything. The dude (the awesome Jared, I believe) found the key after digging through the bushes for 10 minutes, averting disaster. It made me feel better about the world to come across people who are just good human beings, who wanted to help someone else when they had no need to do so. We have been living in Coventry only a year and did not get to try restaurants due to the pandemic. We went this past Friday night for the first time to Woods Tavern. From the moment we walked through the door we knew this was our new go to place! We were greeted by a friendly young man who was polite and even though we did not have a reservation seated us in under 15 minutes! One of the owners, Liz came over and told us about the place and we quickly realized we had friends in common. We had not even ordered yet but felt welcome. I had an excellent Rueben sandwich! Loaded Steak and Cheese Bomb!! Is Da'Bomb! Eating healthy is tough, so why bother? After a year of Covid seclusion, I strapped on my man pants and got this bad boy to go today. My advice, Call it in and get there in 20 minutes exactly for maximum eating temp... Make sure to Ask for napkins, things can get drippy. Let the piping hot onion rings burn your mouth a little and enjoy the slight sprinkles of sea salt on every beautiful circular piece of Heaven... Then gingerly bite into the soft and fluffy torpedo roll filled with ample melted cheese goodness and just the right amount of peppers and onions perfectly placed as to not drown out the juicyness of the prime and perfectly browned shaved steak... A real man will put this down all in three breaths... maybe four... Then savor the flavor for the next hour or so while your brain sparks from the salt flecks still dissolving in between your freshly scalded gum lines... All I can say is Yummm... Driving on I-95 and was looking for a quick bite so stumbled upon this place. It's a dive bar but not the type with broken chairs, etc. instead everything looks pretty new. Pricing is very reasonable. I had the wiener dog pizza and stuffed cherry peppers. Cherry peppers were good but really nothing special about it as you can literally just buy them in the grocery store which they obviously did and just put them on a bed of lettuce, at least it came with homemade garlic bread. Pizza had s good taste and was nice and crispy, would stop here again for that and try a different one since they got all kinds of weird pizza's on the menu. read more

This place is great. I've been several times and have never had a problem. I have to admit "The Woods Burger" is my favorite item on the menu. It's a massive burger with cheddar cheese stuffed in the center and thick, crispy bacon on top. You have to try it. The fries are hand cut and fried on sight, clearly fresh. The staff is very personable and attentive. Anyone will fit in. Bring the family and chow down on some amazing home cooked classics and comfort food, or come by later in the evening for the drinks and fun atmosphere. I don't know their whole schedule but there are karaoke nights, weekend bands, and weekday trivia nights. Finally, if you're really looking for a fun night, you have to try the shotski! Still on your game!! Dine tonight , finally Chicken wings were very good. Thai, buffaque, and the hottest ones you had. Our friend eats inferno wings as a challenging game. I thought I would check this out for a change of pace from the other local places...always looking for a good burger and beer place. Brought my family as well. The cons: 1. My Bacon Burger was $12.00, was way over cooked and had onions on it, and I explicitly asked to make sure there were no onions. Waitress was very nice about it and brought it back to the kitchen. Came back, no onions (though I could still smell them) and burger was way over cooked (well done, I ordered medium) and getting cold by this point. Yes, I could have sent it back a second time but I was hungry and did not want to eat after everyone else was done. 2. Domestic draft beer is overpriced. Had too much foam and was probably 12 ounces of beer. 3. Chicken wings were fresh, but soggy rather than crispy. 4. Lots of young people, lots of swearing. Not a good family atmosphere. Pros: 1. Fries were excellent. 2. Mozzarella sticks were good. 3. Sauce on wings were good. 4. Waitress was super nice. 5. Beer was cold 6. The food at woods tavern is always great. I prefer their pizza and burgers over Dan's Place any day and will drive the extra miles for the quality and the prices. The cheeseburger and chicken bacon jalapeño pizza are the go too's, also the burgers are huge, cooked as requested and the food has flavor. The drinks are always good and the fluffer nutter shot is out of this world!!!! They offer many gluten free items if you have a wheat allergy or gluten intolerance. On trivia night it is recommended to reserve a table because you will not be able to find a seat at the tables or the bar if you do not get there early enough. The only thing that I wish would change is the attitude of the staff. They are attentive but half the time I go in they seem miserable and they come off as customers are inconveniencing them unless you are a regular. read more

At that point, after we waited over 45 minutes they said they were to busy with reservations and would not be able to seat us, at all!! Honestly, I wish I didn't have to write this review because last time I came here was amazing. Had dinner last night with my friends and we reserved a table for 7:30. We were a little early arriving so we hit the bar first. First off I'll say the bartenders are great. As soon as we sat down the acknowledged my husband and I and got us food and drinks promptly. The real issue happened when we sat at our table. The worst service I've ever experienced from a server. We sat at our table for a good 30 minutes before our waitress even came over. She came over with an attitude from the beginning smelling of alcohol. Took one of my friends orders then walks away without even asking if the other guests wanted to order anything. I literally had to say excuse me for her to come back over. This happened all night with her being rude and as I was waiting to use the restroom saw her having a drink with a fellow patron who was already intoxicated beyond belief. Besides the rude waitress, the food was good. Buffalo chicken dip and wings were great. I didn't catch our waitresses name since she didn't give it but she had on a green button down shirt and long wavy brown hair. Overall just a terrible experience. read more

Went to this restaurant with a friend prior to a fundraiser. It came recommended, so we thought it was a good time to try it out. Finding the entrance to the location was our only disappointment. First we entered the Dunkin Donuts, then the dirt road, but when we found the driveway, it was easy to spot The Woods Tavern. The beautiful wood-burned owl is a great mascot and a beautiful piece displayed. All in all, we had a laugh when we arrived. Upon entering, the hostess greeted us with a warm smile and asked if we were for dinner or just drinks. We asked for a tall top near the bar and were able to peak at some yummy-looking dinners. There are lots of TVs to watch your favorite game and high and low tables for groups of all sizes. Our waitress, Erica, was pleasant and answered our questions on available drinks. We really liked having Angry Orchard on tap. We immediately ordered two. My friend suggested we try Hot Damn in it to give it some zip. The waitress was very pleasant when she brought the drinks and not at all slighted when we asked for two shots to add to the cider. The smell of the fresh popcorn is always a welcome sign and the bartender was very helpful and friendly when I asked for a bowl. FOOD: We both decided on burgers for dinner. Mine was The Wood's Burger and at $10.99 was a great deal. The handmade burger grilled and filled with delicious gooey cheddar cheese that really did explode out of it when I cut the burger in half. They don't skimp with the bacon and mushrooms at this joint! So much that I needed my fork for the spillovers. I opted to switch the fries for the broccoli gratin and was not disappointed. Such a nicely done broccoli with broiled cheese crumb on top. My friend had Old Reliable Burger and asked for all her favorite toppings, including dill pickles. She stayed with the fresh cut fries and I tried the fries. Thank goodness my broccoli was good, because there were fresh and delicious. Erica was very attentive with refills on drinks and checking on the food. This place should be a must on you list of restaurants for a small group or a large family/friends gathering.
