How do you discover a book without "opening" it . The woman was so rude , the book they sold didn't even have a barcode . The seller was even flustered when we said we didn't want it and wanted to donate it then and she almost would not take it at a new and USED bookstore. The staff unfriendly and unhelpful.

Tons of zines on every subject imaginable (composting, gardening, witchcraft, gay/queer subjects, politics, and more). Little booklets, funky cards and books. I picked up several cheeky cards I can't wait to send to friends. They also have records, crystals/stones, tchotchkes, small decor items. I think they also do tarot in the back. And they have a cute shop cat! The store decor is a lot of fun, with mirrors, political posters, a large ram that plays on the ventilation system. There is a lot here you won't find anywhere else.

Literally, half the store is children's books, it's just a matter of time til this new policy backfires spectacularly and unhygienically. Who does that? Who sees a little kid desperate to use the bathroom and tells them to go across the street to some cafe? Who treats another human being that way? And I bought two books anyway, because you have to support independent bookstores if you want to keep them, even if they treat you like human garbage.

Over the last few months, I have spent a lot of time at Boulevard and as Tatiana the owner gets to know you, you become not only a loyal customer but a friend. Her events are awesome and something that Dyker needs. Working in Manhattan sometimes I'm just too tired to stay around in the city for a book signing or cooking class - Boulevard offers regular events such as this and it's only a couple of blocks away from our apartment. Poetry readings, psychic readings, meet and greets - I was so surprised to see such great monthly events when I first stopped in and each event is interesting and fun. The ones that have a cost attached to them are minimal fees and even though I don't have kids, I noticed Boulevard has a ton of kids book events and arts and crafts. They know you by name, track all of your purchases and have a loyalty program where you get a $5 coupon occasionally with your purchases. I joined the book club and the other customers in the store get to know each other and look forward to seeing each other at different events. I've also found some totally random kitschy books here for gifts that people have loved. As for the book selection, even if it's not as big as a chain bookstore, Boulevard has a great variety of books. Best sellers, secret finds, popular series - they have them and in almost every genre including a big kids and teen section. Boulevard feels homey and warm when you come in and like I said, Dyker really needed a place like this. I'd rather give Tatiana and her awesome staff my money than Barnes and Noble or Amazon. Considering how much I spend there, I may be asking them for a second job soon!

Went looking for a place to get some coffee in the area and landed at this fantastic queer-owned…read morebookstore and cafe with an amazingly curated collection of trans and queer authored books. It's not the largest space, but the shelves are organized really well, and feature anything from esoteric small pub books to mainstream hits to graphic novels. I spotted a lot of my faves, and would gladly return to find a new one. There's a large table in the center where I saw some folks working on laptops and others catching up. My maple latte was fantastic-- strong coffee flavor and just the right amount of sweetness. So five stars for their coffee and five stars for their book selection. I'm so happy a space like this can cater to the queer community and thrive. Support and protect them at all costs.
