It's a heavy iron pipe that was put in in 1918, when my house was built, it has a hairline crack in it. It will be costly to get this one replaced with PVC piping. They took the time to discuss it with me, wrote me out an estimate at the time they were here, so I have something to refer to, we're in the ballpark, figures quoted by others and we're also thorough on explaining the costs, and what to expect. Since this is just a preliminary estimate, I am not going to hold them to anything as we all know those change once you get into the big jobs, but I am sure they know what they're doing as I feel comfortable with that. They are licensed, bonded, and insured, which is a highpoint for me. Their reviews are good from past customers. After reviewing the invoice, I had to seek legal advice and confirmed through an independent witness that the technicians were on site for only a few hours. We ultimately reached a resolution after considerable back-and-forth. I would recommend asking for a written estimate and a clear explanation of hourly billing before authorizing work. Write down everything and do not proceed unless you have a written estimate you agree with.

They were responsive and had somebody out to the house within 1.5 hours, so great news on that front. Everyone over there is kind, and it's the type of company I'd typically use and recommend, if not for one major issue... ...which is that ASAP Poop charges $475/hour for services in addition to any parts they need to sell. (This is beyond emergency service fees of $200, which they indeed disclosed in advance.) So, it's $475/hour to have somebody out to the house, even without any of their equipment used, something I confirmed via speaking to two different people when I called to inquire. Honestly, I was/am shocked at this exorbitant rate. According to Angi HomeAdvisor and Forbes Home Guides, septic services like this usually range between $150 and $300 per hour, making ASAP Poop as much as 3x costlier than others in town (and that's before emergency fees).
