Why don't we have something like this close by??? I love this place.. this is as healthy as it can get artisan breads, ancient organic grains, salads and smoothies..One order of everything please! It looks like it was recently renovated, exposed brick walls and the booth with cow hide head rests are so bold and tastefully done. There are so many options to choose from, the food is made right in front of you using all fresh ingredients hormone and antibiotic free. Everything looked so appetizing. Excellent food quality -- top notch ingredients (although we don't eat meat or poultry so can't comment on those). I love the bagels and the sandwiches. Wife likes the "salmon bowl". Kids enjoy the bagels and the fresh juice. The soups are delicious. Coffee is good. Hands down our favorite place in Concord as it anchors the downtown experience for our family, and I wouldn't be surprised if we've been here 500 times at this point. We've never had a bad experience, and on the rare occasion that an order error has occurred it has been dealt with quickly and amicably. Service is quick. We usually order in person, but when we order online the food has always been ready when we get there. The restaurant is always clean and well staffed. Workers are courteous and seem happy to be there. We were recently in NYC's upper west side and the bagels here would stack up with your basic NY bagel (we travelled a good way across Manhattan to get a favorite bagel, and while Works is not as good as those, I felt that the bagel quality was equal to what is served at Zabar's lunch counter). One of the better places in Concord for a quick bite . Bagels always fresh -I usually get the works with onion and chive cream cheese . They also have bowls with quinoa that are tasty and healthy. Strongly recommend. I had the salmon Schmere with the works bagel (there version of an everything bagel). I also had the cold brew. Cold brew wasn't bitter, which I think it is from a lot of places. Great place for breakfast! Was in the area with my wife and we were looking for a good clean eating breakfast place! My wife stumbled on this place! They have an excessive menu and a large variety of different sandwiches and wraps. Along with the sandwiches they also provide breakfast all day long. Everything is made fresh and the kitchen has an open concept so you are able to watch you food being prepared. I ordered the Salmon Wrap! It was very good with all fresh vegetables! If your looking for a quick but healthy and tasty treat this is the place! Local, homegrown and fresh breakfast, brunch and lunch! I had the tomato basil bagel with bacon egg and cheese. It was soooo simple bit super flavorful and tasty, the local Vermont cheddar was sharp and make the perfect combo to the eggs and bacon. Their coffee was also good with a variety of milk options, even almond! Overall great experience, wish there was one closer so I could have it every weekend! read more

Stopped in on a Sunday evening to grab something to go for dinner. The place has nice decor. The staff was friendly. Ordered the Super Chicken Panini. And yes, the payment terminal try's to guilt you into tipping. The panini was ready too quickly which is not a good sign. Got home (less than 5 min trip), opened the sandwich and was presented with a soggy lump of a sandwich on sourdough bread. A panini is supposed to be pressed and toasted. This was not pressed, barely toasted. It had the faintest of grill lines on the bread. Just a soggy mess inside and out. Could not even pick it up. Basically inedible and I ended up taking out the few small pieces of chicken and tossing the rest. What a waste. Maybe it was an off day with untrained people, but it was not a good experience for me. read more

we were staying at a hotel in Concord and ordered takeout from The Works. The online ordering process was easy and allowed for specific customization of the order. Our food was absolutely delicious, and was ready when I got there. I had the Southwest Chicken burrito and it was a great combination of flavors and very filling. my husband had the smoked salmon bagel sandwich and he said it was great with tomatoes, capers and red onion. I've been going to multiple locations of The Works for years and have always been a fan. The food is slightly overpriced, but it's usually good so I'm willing to pay a little more. I will say that my last experience at this location left a bad taste in my mouth. I went with a friend of mine on a Friday morning to get breakfast and coffee. We brought our computers so we could work while we ate. I spent a little over $30, and we had been there for about 45 minutes when a guy (assuming manager or owner) comes up to us and says bluntly "you guys know we have a 30 minute limit at our tables?". I understand needing to open tables up for customers but half of the tables in there were open, he could've been a bit nicer about a simple misunderstanding, and I didn't see anything around us that mentioned a 30 minute limit. I wasn't even done with my coffee when we were asked to leave. As we were leaving, I was looking around for a sign that mentioned the 30-minute limit and found there was one sign on the door. I would recommend putting more signs around the cafe instead of assuming people know about it because I had no idea. read more

This place had so much potential, if only they didn't rip us off. They charge us $10 for a breakfast burrito. The sunrise. It said it had avocado and bacon in it. It had one tiny piece of avocado and maybe half a piece of bacon. It was a rip off. It left us feeling really disappointed. It's a real shame because the flavor was all there, the potential was all there. But no dice. The Mac and cheese was deviously good and so was the salmon bagel. Wonderful spot for a bagel and a coffee. When I was coaching Boy's XC at SPS I would load upon two to thee dozen and treat the boys to a bagel feast before a meet. They never lasted long. Quick friendly service during morning holiday weekend hours! No nutrition information so I ordered a Honey-bear smoothie which was delicious! Even DH enjoyed it! Only problem was the mandatory paper straws was trashed before getting 1/3 way through the drink. They have a good mix of different plates, and make a good effort to source locally if that's important to you. Seating can be a little limited during rush hours, although they do have some nice booths and a few window seats to people watch. They could also stand for a better selection of teas, or other hot drinks, by coffee is done well. Worst part of the experience---the customer pours their own coffee and gets a bagel in a bag, and the payment kiosk ASKS FOR A TIP. Huh? There was absolutely no service! And the worst part is that they stare at the kiosk, as you pay, almost daring you not to click on one of the canned tip options ...eg. 20% or 30%. Business manager---just pay your workers more!! We were visiting Concord, and stopped in here to get some lunch. It's a cozy sandwich/coffee/smoothie/bagel shop. The food was really good, as were our smoothies, and it's a cute little restaurant. The only thing I didn't really care for was a guy came around and shooed you out if you weren't actively eating or drinking. There's apparently a sign on the door (which I didn't see, so perhaps others didn't either) saying your time is limited in the shop due to lack of seating during busy times. I understand this thinking, but the way the guy told the couple next to us, that their time was up, wasn't very diplomatic, and it may stop people from repeat visits. Stopped here for a quick Sunday bite and while the food is filling, it's not the 5-star quality we were hoping for. I ordered the Multi Grain Works bagel, filled with lox and schmear. New Yorker here for several years, and to put it bluntly, the bagel didn't even come close to what NY serves up. It was very tough (almost leaning towards brittle texture) and extremely hard to eat without hurting your teeth. The salmon serving size was plentiful enough for me, and the cream cheese also satisfactory. The hardened bagel texture itself is really what drove down the quality of the meal and made it much less enjoyable. Since it was brunch hour, I also ordered an iced latte, asking for strong espresso shots, and the flavor was very weak. Definitely tasted more like a cup of whole milk than a good strong coffee, and that was a bit sad as you always hope for a good punchy brew at a joint like this. Their menu had great variety and I would love to come back to try the smoothies, but the breakfast bagel was a definite no go to repeat. read more

Wonderful place to start the day. Came over to Concord during a volunteer duty taking a nice senior to her early morning medical appointment and had time to stop for breakfast. I wasn't disappointed. Piping hot bagels out of the oven, the fragrance of rosemary permeating the air, ample al fresco seating, the sounds and sights of people going by on the way to work, the aroma of espresso.... all of it in the middle of downtown. The very pleasant folks at the counter helped me through ordering from the extensive breakfast menu. My bagel egg and ham sandwich came with tomato and a slice of lox for extra protein. I haven't been to a Works cafe in years and was impressed with their huge menu. I went with a traditional egg and cheese on a cheese bagel complete with cream cheese (which was from a local farm and really good) and tomato. Yum. I also picked up two Seltzer waters as they had a good variety. I finally grabbed a tuna grab n go from the freezer. This was just okay. I liked the tuna but they did something really wonky with the apples - it tasted like it was pickled and my guess is it had turned somehow and that wasn't the intended taste; tried to check ingredients but that info was missing. Everyone was friendly, the line went fast and the breakfast sandwich was great so I'd for sure return. read more
