As a female customer who wanted a fade with a unique design, I approve! I have been wanting to try something completely new for a while now (fade with a flower design), and I got it here!!! I went to Webster Street, because there are like 6-7 salons/shops on it. Wild. How are they not all cannibalizing each other out there? Regardless, I went down each one of them and asked for a flower fade... No one seemed to be able to do it. It was such a let down until I met Marco. He showed me his portfolio, and I knew I found my fade barber. He is very skilled at fades, and even though he had a busy day, he found time to accommodate me. He even kindly explained to me step by step what he was doing (i.e. prep, after shave, etc). It's a whole new world. Lol. Despite it being a men's shop, I didn't feel weird there nor over charged. We moved to the Bay Area a few years ago and have struggled to find a barber to cut my husband's hair. We've tried SF, Oakland, Walnut Creek and beyond, but he always left disappointed. I came across Felix Nestor on instagram after seeing his posts (and seeing that he has similar hair texture to my husband) and immediately booked an appointment. It was really easy to book on their website. When we came to the appointment it was 5-star from beginning to end! First, the shop looks really incredible, it's clean, everyone is wearing matching smocks, and it looks professionally run. I didn't know Felix was the owner, but you can tell that this shop is run with pride by the owner, who himself cuts hair as well! There was a very comfy couch for me and I observed that this place runs like clock work - the chairs are not empty, clients are seen exactly on time and they really aren't going to make you wait hour after your appointment. I was impressed by the haircuts - all of the barbers seemed incredibly skilled and offered other services like beard trimming, facials, etc. They had a machine that was cleaning up hair automatically, which was a nice touch. My husbands haircut is the best he's ever had. Felix took the time to listen and really understand exactly what he wanted and delivered. He used a combination of clippers, scissors and shears. Afterwards, he used a pomade that really brought it together and luckily we were able to buy the product there - they have a full line of products, which made it easy. It's really hard to get my husband to go to a beauty store for these kind of things. Finally, I felt welcomed here. I usually feel like women aren't allowed in barber shops but the owner was extremely kind! They also have a huge tv where you can watch soccer or other sports. Made a same-day appointment so I knew I'd probably get one of the newer barbers, in this case Juan. I asked for a high fade, trim the top, and that I like to wear my hair forward. Juan didn't seem to have much experience with white people hair, I'm not sure. His styling options were 'comb over of a 50 year old', and when that looked as terrible as you can imagine, 'just straight back' was the suggested solution. When that looked just as bad, he said "well you asked for it straight back" uh hell no Juan you suggested that cause you can't do what I'm asking. Eventually he gave up and asked if I wanted to style it lol, first time a barber's asked me that. Post-cut I realized he'd given me a super disconnected fade, and hadn't trimmed any hair up top like I'd asked. Left a weird chunk of hair on the side of my head too. Had to get another cut the next week from an experienced barber elsewhere. read more

This is hands down the worst haircut I've ever received. I gave a lot of instructions, and Josue did not hear any of them apparently. Even after I mentioned a few things when we were done, he kept making the cut worse. I will never go back here! This is the worst experience I've had in years. I wish I could give something below zero stars. Please do not come to this shop, at least not to Josue, he doesn't know how to do a taper. I asked him to keep my beard line as high as possible, and he made it lower than I've ever had in my life and made my beard very short when I asked for him to take a tiny bit off. It's been difficult to find a barber that can cut my curly hair with precision. Went to see Felix Nestor and was very specific about what I wanted, yet had trouble explaining it. It was like he knew what picture I had in my head and took the time to explain what he was going to do to achieve the look I wanted. The fade in the back was superb and he also showed me how to style it with product at the end. He used scissors, sheers, and clippers! That's how I knew he was dedicated to his craft! It was hard to find a well-rounded and experienced Barbers that could cut my harsh "Asian" hair. But stubborned me did found one good spot--The XIII. As of today, it's my second time getting a cut from them. And I had a great experience with Justin today; he was generous and also knowledgeable about my "Asian Hair". The way he uses scissors has brought back my experiences with some famous Japanese baber in China. I've also gotten a cut from the owner of the shop who is named Felix, which was a incredible guy; the cut was well constructed and he understood my request with no problems at all. My experience was superb and I was more than satisfied. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a fresh cut. I went to book today with the same barber and it appears I was blocked from making an appointment. I find this odd because the barber was pretty chill and he did a good job. I have been to MANY barbershops here in the Bay Area since I am a native here. This was without a doubt the worst experience I've ever had at a barber shop. For context, I called in and made an appointment for when I had a break on work two days in advance. Was not greeted, there were men sitting at their stations just on their phones looking at me waiting. I get a barber shop is a place to chat and everything but no one was doing their job. After, and I'm not exaggerating here, 20 minutes I said, guys, I gotta go back to work, my appointment was over 20 minutes ago and I need to get back. They said well if you do that, you won't get a refund. Obviously mad, I said fine, whens your next appointment that you can actually do at said time? They said a certain time and they were then 10 minutes late yet again. This time I did it on my day off. I was given a bad haircut from a barber who barely spoke a word to me, looked pissed the entire time that he had to actually work and asked every two seconds, "that look good? We cool?" I had then told him this wasn't close to being done and the haircut was not symmetrical. The man had NO idea what that word meant and then had to spoon feed him what I was saying and explain it him as you would a child. The haircut was meh AT BEST. Don't come here if you value your time and how your hair looks. Go to Al's Barber shop two blocks down on the corner of Webster and Santa Clara. What I respect most about this barber shop is the owner Felix always try to fit me in my busy schedule, he is very sharp and professional with my cuts. I've been too many Barber shops but will travel across the bay for this one because I get the top of the line fresh cuts with the best products only.
