Sharpe's Pottery Museum is just on the edge of Swadlincote Town Centre. It is also the local…read moretourist information, and has a shop and a cafe. The Museum gives a great account of the local heritage in pottery and ceramic making, which includes T.G. Green amongst others. Whilst not huge it is full of interesting nuggets of information. The accompanying shop, which is staffed by volunteers, is packed with local history books, as well as branded gifts, jewelry and ceramics. The prices of which are very reasonable and the staff are knowledgeable about the local area: bus times, local amenities etc. The Museum has a large Bottle Kiln, which not only gives the place a great atmosphere, it has fantastic acoustics, so Sharpes is a regular host of musical events like choirs and classical music recitals. The accompanying cafe has a good setting at the top of the museum, serving hot and cold drinks, and a range of sandwiches and light meals. It is quite an experience to have a cup of coffee in the heart of a Bottle Kiln. Sharpes Museum is a lovely place but its opening hours are limited, and it closes for several weeks at Christmas and other major holidays. So if you are only popping in for a coffee, its best to check if they are open.

First-Hand Experience: More info about my personal experience at this stadium - I couldn't believe how much I had to pay for a ticket. Is this the Premier League? I think not. I paid more here than I paid even at a Fulham game... a home Premier League game in London! I'm not sure why this is the case and believe me it's the only reason it scores a 4 instead of 5. Because this is an absolutely remarkable stadium. State of the art, beautiful, magnificent, with intense and loud support from the rabid Coventry fans. I love it. It's a great place to watch concerts too. It's twice the stadium Highfield Road was. But as long as the prices are this high, I can't give them more than 4. It's capable of a great atmosphere (the team will need to get back to the Prem for that, they're 2 tiers down), it's held rock concerts like the awesome Bon Jovi an the awful Nickelback and someday hopefully me, and it's a cute sky blue like the team. It looks great inside and out like my gf. It was part of the Olympics and can hold a whopping 32k fans which is fantastic for a new stadium. It cost a whopping 113 million which is crazy. Because the stadium is owned by ACL I'll keep it at 4 stars, they're really mean to the club itself. It's an AMAZING stadium, but CCFC need to own it in order for this to work properly.

Really was not sure how to categorise - as this is not a music venue as such. Its one of those…read morelocal historical buildings that has thankfully been saved for future generations - and is used for many many events. Its a grade 2 listed building and victorian. Over the years I have watched allsorts of 'acts' here from comedians,, to bands, to pantomime and even a reknowned medium. I am sure there are many mildly famous folk who have trodden these boards over the years - but it does tend to be utilised more often than not for amateur and 'home grown' events. I am fond of this beautiful old building as it brings back happy memories of dancing competitions when I was but a girl, and our dancing school also held its annual show here ( see more uses). But I think anyone would say the place has character. The woodenstage is large enough for most purposes, with gorgeous red velvet curtains, and there is plenty of tiered seating. The back stage area is very good, with a cellar space that can be utilised as a secondary changing area too (again happy memories of tap shoes and leotards - sigh). Also there is a bar area which can be hired for events and a small 'refectory' style space to serve up refreshments. In terms of 'music' events I believe this is more suited to cabaret stle seated performances than live Rock bands and mosh pits - but that is my opinion alone. I genuinely applaud the local council for preserving this lovely piece of our heritage and I hope they continue to do so for many many more generations to come. I have just checked the stats and for those interested it seats 349 people and the stage is 'Proscenium Arch' in style 9means nothing to me sorry!).

A bit like Glastonbury only on a tiny scale. I reckon there was about 5000 people there, it was only £90 and everything is a lot lot easier than Glastonbury. The weather was beautiful which obviously helped but would have been good anywhere and there were loads of tents where you could shelter. There was a good selection of smaller artists, good DJ's and other acts. There was a massive 'Rio style' carnival Saturday night which paraded around the campsite and everyone got dressed up. I will definitely go back. 100% next year and think you should go too!

It's a really safe place for young children with a large soft play area with soft slides and climbing frames. There's also a small separate bit at the end of the main soft play where younger, smaller or less confident children can play on a smaller scale soft play area. They have some outdoor activity but that is only open during good weather. It's is just over £2 for an hour and a half and is open day times until 4pm. The price is per child. Refreshments are available at a reasonable price although there is only a fairly small selection. They serve hot drinks, cold drinks and cold snacks. You have to give the name of each child as you go in and out. There is only one way out so you know your kids are safe because you can see them. It is suitable for children from toddlers to around age 12.
