Someone had told me that the Yard Milkshakes were "over the top" and that is the perfect description. These things are out there! You'll find Blue Bell ice cream at The Yard, which is pretty rare in Utah. If you want just a scoop, that's totally possible, but what most people come here for are the decadent and outrageous shakes-that are massive enough to share with the entire family. On my quench to satisfy my sweet tooth, I stumbled upon the yard. At the first instance, the place looks really good. It's hygienic, pretty looking. There are go to icecream shakes in the fridge, icecreams which they let you sample, and their specialty shakes which from the look of the pictures look extremely delicious. I wanted something chocolaty and there wasn't any combination in speciality drink that I liked which also were very expensive.so we ordered one brownie shake which didn't have that quality for the price they offered. Came here a few months back, I have good and bad to say. It's a fun place with interesting combos and fancy looking ice creams. The portions are GIGANTIC. 3-4 people an ice cream easily. Watch out if you eat anything colorful, you will poop weird colors the next day. And the more colorful the less good it tastes honestly, you can taste the food coloring. Me and my family went in an hour before they closed on a Friday night. Completely empty for good reason. We were rushed to order multiple times but the menu has a million options. I ended up getting their brownie ice cream which tasted exactly like tootsie rolls... tootsie rolls are not my favorite and I was never offered a sample to try. Upon walking in, it is bright and inviting. The man behind the register greeted us and was very friendly. There was a discount offered for orem or Provo residents as well as military discount. We were even given a treat for our little one. With high hopes after customer service and seeing all the reviews we were excited. They brought us the milkshakes and they were beautiful however we feel like that was the end of our wonderful experience. The straws were not milkshake friendly, and the spoons weren't long enough to reach the bottom. The Cookie Monster had a strong food coloring taste to it and the S'more one tasted like the smell of a bath and body works marshmallow candle. As for the Brookie batter it was just underwhelming. I paid over 30 dollars for me and my wife to have a tiny glass shake with a brownie on top. it's beyond over price and I can go to twisted cow and their cheaper even with their own glass mug that the yard copied as well. they have plenty of staff that are friendly and very helpful. Walked in and got there when there was not many people there which made ordering easy. The staff was great and let my party know what was good and what the yard was all about. Their bathroom was very clean and they had a station to clean out the mason jars when you were done. Plenty of seating and very clean to sit down and eat your ice cream. This is the only place in Utah you can get bluebell ice cream that I know of. If you've ever had bluebell ice cream, you know why this is such a big statement. It's better than anything you can get in an Utah grocery store. The milkshakes are just like they look like in the pictures on the website. Huge and over-the-top. The only downfall is the cost. The Yard's milkshakes definitely brought Heather to The Yard. That's the whole reason I went. So The Yard's milkshakes are based out of Blue Bell Ice Cream, which is a national brand. I gotta say, I don't mind the dessert chains coming in, especially when they support a local economy. I wasn't sure how I felt about The Yard bringing in an ice cream brand that you can get at grocery stores. I was still excited to try it. The Yard has an extensive menu of all kinds of milkshakes to choose from. Ironically, none of the milkshakes on the menu appealed to me so I turned to the secret menu and ordered the death by chocolate. I have been in a chocolatey mood and I was excited to try this. They had a freezer in the lobby, which offered all kinds of pints of ice cream as well. I was in a bit of a debate between just getting a scoop of ice cream or getting the milkshake, but I decided that I deserved the milkshake. Everything came out pretty quickly and the display was awesome. However, I am not sure how necessary it is for the milkshake to be overflowing, but for $20, I'd be kind of salty if it wasn't haha. The milkshake was divine. The brownie and whipped cream were okay but the milkshake was definitely the star of the show and it tasted amazing. It was super chocolatey but I was more than okay with that. The whipped cream tasted like your regular whipped cream and the brownie kind of tasted like a sheet cake brownie, so I wasn't the biggest fan. Another thing with The Yard is that they coat the outside of the cup with frosting and sprinkles, so it gets everywhere and is hard to clean when you get home. I was not able to finish everything in the store so I asked for something to help me transport it home and they literally didn't have anything--no lid, box, anything. The Yard is still an awesome place to go for a milkshake but because of the price point, I think it is definitely more of a treat.
