We visited The Yellow Deli in Pulaski while road-tripping from West Palm Beach, FL and wow, what a gem! The place has an incredibly warm, homey feel that immediately made us feel welcome. It's beautifully decorated with rustic, handcrafted touches, and the spiral staircase leading to their upstairs porch is such a charming feature, perfect spot to relax. The food was fresh and comforting. We had steaming hot sandwiches on their delicious fresh-baked bread, homemade soup that hit the spot, refreshing strawberry smoothies, carrot juice, a turkey and cheese sandwich, and two of their salads, everything tasted homemade with real care. Let's just say, when my friend moved to this area of TN I had my doubts. But they suggested this place for us to go while I was visiting. To my surprise, it was very warm and welcoming. From the atmosphere, to the hostess, and down to our waiter. I was even more surprised at how fresh everything tasted. As if everything was made there and sourced locally. And to my surprise, it was. As it is there goal to provide food that way. I had a simple sandwich with some chili and it didn't taste processed at all. Not even the sauces on my sandwich. Food is great, fresh and consistent. You won't get a better sandwich in Giles County. The service depends on the day, sometimes it's really slow and sometimes you're surprised. People are very timid about coming here but I love the Yellow Deli. I always get their sandwiches because they are warm and delicious. I have had friends who have had the butternut squash soup that says it's AMAZING. The people that work here are vice nice and treat you with respect. They never impose their religion on you or even talk about it. They are there to do their job. No if you ask they will answer your question. I didn't know what to expect of this place. It's operated by Twelve Tribes, an "end times" Christian organization. Most said that the food was good, some said that it was sketchy, and others were worried that they'd be recruited into their cult. Well, I'm here to put it straight. Luckily, you have me to guide you through the weeds of doubt. I shall deliver the definitive word on what you should think. You will listen to me and be rewarded. For I am the soul of YELP, and you shall follow the path that I blaze. So it is said, and so it shall be. Now that we have an understanding, you can rest assured that you won't be recruited while sitting at your table. Pamphlets at the door will fill that purpose. You don't have to pick one up to read, but I do suggest that you bring some reading material, because there'll be quite a bit of empty time between when you order and when your food arrives. When your food does finally make an appearance, you'll thoroughly enjoy it. Fresh as fresh can be. The place is cool inside. Rustic and very clean. The servers (which were all men) are very congenial, and they definitely remind me of my days in the late 60's. The women were behind the counters or in the kitchen doing women's work? I'll let you draw your own conclusions on that one. You now have my permission to visit The Yellow Deli and partake in their fare. You WILL go, and you WILL enjoy. Arrived at 6:20 pm, left at 7:40. That is how long it took to be served a bowl of barely warm chili and a burnt corn muffin that was raw in the center. They menu claims "Hot" sandwiches but they steam the sandwich, and it is not even close to being a hot sandwich! All in all, it is not a place I would go again. Yellow Deli definitely has an... interesting backstory... to say the least, so eating here was kind of a true YOLO moment for me. Let's just say, this place has a history of very CULTured people. All jokes aside, my friend and his partner swear that they have the best sandwiches and smoothies and eat there occasionally, so why not try it out? I went with the Deli Rose sandwich, which has roast beef, corned beef, pepper jack cheese, provolone cheese, onions, tomato, butter, mustard and their own "spicy red sauce", all packed onto an onion roll. Definitely not a sandwich for the faint of heart lol. As for the smoothie, I got a basic strawberry smoothie made with frozen fruits, juice, and honey. Two friends and I went to the Yellow Deli to celebrate my birthday. My first impression was that the ambiance was perfect for a liesurely meal. Some people complain of slow service. I appreciate not feeling rushed. Everyone raved about their food. I had a perfectly prepared reuben sandwich complemented by homemade squash soup. Showed up right at 9am, thinking that's when they opened. Charming looking home from the outside, kind welcome from the staff, immediately we're seated. Menu had so many good sounding options we opted for a waffle, deli pesto sandwich, cup of chili, and country ranch sandwich. My husband and I agree this is the best waffle we have ever had (sorry Waffle House). The pesto was so fresh - that sandwich was unreal on a fresh bun! The chicken sandwich was like Publix Buffalo chicken smothered on the most beautiful tomatoes I've ever seen and an egg roll. The chili was chunky and served with a moist jalapeño cornbread - very good & tomato-y. I enjoyed a wonderful lunch at The Yellow Deli today while working in Pulaski. A friend of mine had told me about their wonderful sandwich's, salads, soups, and desserts, but I'm not much of a sandwich person...I'd rather have a lamb shank, curry, or Asian dish. I have to say however, that I was very pleased with my mango matte tea and Ruben sandwich today. Both were excellent! After all, who doesn't like a good corned beef Ruben, and that Mango Matte tea was like drinking Mango heaven!!! I think what made the lunch however, was not just the delicious food, but the beautiful restaurant. Inside, I felt as if I had been transported to the Shire in Lord of the rings, the booths and woodwork was gorgeous! I know, I'm a dork, but it was neat. And the outside of the building was kind of an old Victorian that had been updated a bit and given new life! Most of the people working were a hoot to talk to, I felt as if I'd met up with a bunch of flower children or dead heads from the 60's or 70's. Not the first time we've been here but I guess I forgot because the place itself is cute. I can't believe that a place with NO FRESH COOKED FOOD could take so long. Worst service ever - no "short staffed" excuse as it wasn't crowded and past any lunch rush. Two sandwiches and a cup of soup took an hour! At least 15 minutes just to get our tea. This is truly a unique place to stop for a really delicious meal. What you should know is that this place is run by the Twelve Tribes community, a sort of Christian/Jew/hippie hybrid? cult formed in Tennessee in the 1970s. The cult started as a regular college church ministry, and they ran a small shop selling drinks out of their eventual leader's home. They then decided to start living communally, but their tradition of serving delicious food and drink has never ceased. They are, at least today, relatively benign (as far as cults go) and are very, very friendly to "outsiders." They do not actively try to recruit their customers, although they leave out brochures in the restaurant if you want to read about them. They operate several of these cafes worldwide. This place is SQUEAKY CLEAN. There is not a speck of dust anywhere; the floors are polished; the outdoor appearance is meticulously maintained. The bathrooms are unisex (both signs on the two bathroom doors, instead of men/women, say "whatever you are" :) and are spotless. The ambience inside is hard to describe... very nature oriented, comfortable, with hints of hippie is as good as I can get-you just need to go to see for yourself! The waiters and staff are all members of the Twelve Tribes community, and they are excellent at their jobs. They are also exceptionally friendly. We waited only about ten minutes for our food during a relatively busy lunch hour, and were taken care of the whole time. The food is definitely some of the best deli-style food I have ever eaten. They are very concerned with serving whole and organic food and do not serve fountain drinks as part of this belief. They have an abundance of teas, fruity drinks, and natural sodas instead. I had the make your own sandwich with turkey and provolone on kaiser bread and it was definitely one of the best lunch sandwiches I've ever eaten. The turkey was fresh and natural, it was warmed and the cheese was melted. My mom's salad was spectacular and full of delicious, fresh veggies. Anything on the menu is a must try! This place is definitely worth a detour from the highway; it is a unique, friendly and delicious stop. I highly recommend and would love to go again sometime. read more

I love the healthy and natural items they have available for purchase. I've seen a few negative reviews from people on yelp as well as from people in person who have never even eaten here based solely on their differing religious beliefs. That is just silly. We have always been pleased with this place. I grew up in Pulaski and when this came into town it was a big hit. Ever since I have constantly been greeted and pleased with my food. The wait time sometimes is a drag but there are many more great aspects about the place. It is also a great place to study for any college students who want to get away from the ordinary spots. Went back tonight, server took 15 minutes to take our order. Drinks came out separate, it's like they could only bring one order at a time. Food arrived, I ordered poached eggs and a waffle. The eggs were like hard boiled. The server NEVER came back except to bring us the bill. We asked for to go boxes and cups. He brings 1 box and a cup without a lid. We knew nothing of Pulaski upon arrival, just that they have the best veterinarian around. After dropping our dog off for surgery, someone referred us here and I'm so glad they did! Such a peaceful atmosphere and fresh food. I had the wheat waffle and I think the blueberry preserves were homemade, if not they totally tasted that way!
