I don't really understand why this shop is so popular. People line up for 2-3 hours to get inside just to spend £25 on a little figurine. It is a dust catcher. It doesn't do anything. Like, I get it that York is known for its ghosts and this is a fun souvenir. The shop is nice and the people running it are nice, but the experience is not worth it. Would I do it again? No. I would not spend 2 hours in line to buy something that looks like it was made by a 5 year old in clay. I have my own 5 year old who can do that at home. Why is this even a thing? There's no traditional reason to have one, for example, York doesn't have a tradition where you put one of these in your kitchen window to ward off evil spirits, nothing like that. It's just a funky souvenir. read more
