He arrived at the front door in his full regalia and began playing as he walked through our house and into the back yard. I almost cried it was so perfect. What a fun addition to an event. My husband and I are both Scottish and his brother was attending who is really big into bagpipes so needless to say, it was so fun. Joel is very nice and personable. We found out later that he also plays a multitude of instruments and types of music besides the bagpipe. Definitely worth considering if you are having an event and want to add some pizzaz to it.

It was a time our life was disrupted and things were very hard for my son. He loves art and we tried 29PCC in hopes it would bring him joy and it brought us so much more. We are now living much farther away but make the 1.5 hr trip back for art class when we can. Just last night my son said, "Mommy, I miss Ms. Gretchen!" And I figured it was time to leave a review! Ms. Gretchen has a beautiful way of letting him be him, fully. My son is level 1 autistic, plus very shy at times because of lack of socialization due to a rare disease that keeps him in the house a lot. But when with Ms. Gretchen, none of behaviors are challenging, none of his behaviors need to be adapted - she is so loving and accepting in a way that allows him to feel cared for amd safe. To love and care from a distance in the way that she does is such a strong quiet power and we are grateful to know and to have the opportunity to continue returning to 29 Palms Creative Center. I found out about this place on a travel channel on YouTube. The original owner had built this…read moreplace for her love of art. She had been married several times, hence the tiny chapel. And her response for the out houses were "when ya gotta go, ya gotta go". Unfortunately, she has passed away but her legacy remains. We were greeted by Kiesha who was friendly, welcoming and informative. She explained the layout and even helped us make a purchase. We entered the art galleries and even used the outhouse. Inside, you can see everything but no one can see you. It's a really funny experience. The kids were sure amazed. We walked around the trail in the several acres. We went inside the chapel where they have a prayer jar. I don't want to give away too much because it's truly a magical and giving place that you need to experience it yourself. I highly suggest giving them a visit and consider contributing to keeping the place alive.

Little did we know that this would be one of the highlights of our trip. Not only were the stars beautiful but we met a very nice and passionate scientist who decided to chat with us and teach us all about the constellations. It was such a treat. He and his wife were finishing up and packing away their telescopes and he told us that they were going to lock the gate of the parking lot that our cars were parked in, but let us know that we could move our car right outside of the gate and stay all night if we wanted to because it was open 24 hours. He also warned us about the coyotes and cougars. Coyotes stay away with noise and cougars are attracted to noise, so pick your battle lol. We definitely can't wait to come back! And it's free!
