Really enjoyed my first seafood boil experience here the other day. Service was incredibly friendly and fast. From host to waitress to busboy, everyone was a joy to interact with. During the pandemic, they have outdoor seating with plexiglass dividers and hand sanitizer. They sanitize between customers, and staff all wear gloves and masks. The bathroom was also sparkling clean, which is always appreciated. My boyfriend and I both ordered the 1lb shrimp (headless) and 1lb crawfish combo with garlic butter. We ordered mild, but the crawfish is probably boiled in some kind of seasoning, because we could definitely taste a little kick when we sucked on the heads. Mmm... brains. The shrimp were all massive and pretty easy to peel. I sort of wish they had also been boiled in some kind of salt or other seasoning. The garlic butter was an absolute necessity. You have the option to order your boil with no sauce, but it seems like a very bad idea. Just wait to come here until you're ready to splurge. ;) I loved the decor in the restaurant. Moving to NYC from Florida, I really appreciated the upper-scale look of the place. It didn't feel like one of those seafood places you suspect will give you food poisoning. I'm a southern girl at heart, so I try to hit up a seafood boil in the city once every few months. This time, my friend and I decided to try the boil. One thing to note is that this place is CASH ONLY! They do have an ATM in the restaurant, which wasn't working, but they made sure to tell us before we sat down. During Happy Hour, the drinks are BOGO and you can redeem your second drink anytime you are still seated. We started with the frozen mango margaritas, which were yummy! They were strong, however, and it was a little hard to drink them from the straws they provided. For the second drink, I got their lychee mojito and my friend got their punch. We just couldn't even finish these drinks because they were so strong and bad. If I had to return here, I think I would either not drink or stick to beer. One positive here is that they do allow you to take the drinks to-go! Food-wise, we ordered the cajun fries. They were so crispy and flavorful. They were well-seasoned, too, which I really appreciate. We got the King combo for our boil, which was king crab and shrimp with the house seasoning. I thought their special seasoning was one of the best I've had at a seafood boil and was genuinely very impressed. I have to say there was a point where the service wasn't so great and the boil bags seemed to be less filled than usual, but I visited again a few days ago and wow. I always get the snow crab legs and shrimp combo and the crab cake sliders... all 10/10. I cant rate the food highly enough. The meat just slides out the crab legs. Their boil sauce is incredible. The drinks are also tasty and they aren't cheap with the alcohol. The service is fast and welcoming. Even the little mints they give you at the end are exactly what you need after all that seafood and garlic haha. Just be mindful that this is a cash only spot. Yum! I've been craving the Boiling Crab and similar establishments since coming to New York and when I found this I was super excited to have the chance to have it again. We wait almost an hour and come back to the restaurant to check in again and there was some type of technical difficulty where calls were made but not received. We were getting a bit stressed as it was about 9:10 pm and the restaurant closes at 10 pm according to Google and the sign outside. However, we overheard another customer asking the same thing and confirmed with the server that the restaurant actually closes at 11 pm -- please make this clear!! Another important policy is that this place is CASH ONLY. Very surprising considering it has multiple locations, already operates by modern iPad check in systems and QR codes for the menu in COVID times, and is a goddamn seafood boil so the credit card transaction fees are probably negligible. This is kind of disappointing and the policy is not clear on their website, which might be why they not so sneakily have an ATM in the entry of the restaurant. As for the food, my friend and I got the lobster roll and fried calamari to start with. The lobster roll is a bit small and not at all like a traditional one. It is tasty but the lobster is cut in very small pieces and is maybe even overshadowed with seasoning. My friend described it as a chili dog LOL. The fried calamari was bomb -- fresh, crispy but had a good amount of meat, and taste was on point (a bit salty tho I like that). My friend LOVES seafood and can eat a lot, so he got King Crab legs combo with headless Shrimp and also Snow crab legs. Get the TheBoil special sauce, it is SO TASTY. The snow crab was delicious, the shrimp was also pretty good (and of course they don't clean out the shrimp, it's shell on), the king crab was good but had a little bit of an unpleasant after taste. Started with some cocktails; they're about $10-$15 per drink and they were pretty good sizes for the price. Cajun fries are a classic. The oysters were fresh and decent sized. As for the boil, definitely go for their Boil Special sauce. I dont know what it is, but there's just a distinct taste to it. Second best boiling seafood spot in nyc. My favorite spot was Hot & Juicy, which unfortunately closed down. Must try their Cajun fries and queen combo with The Boil sauce. Great spot for happy hour oysters also. read more
