The last experience that broke the camel's back was a reschedule of 2 appt by the staff and then a "mix up" with the third. Following this appt that never happened, I was contacted by the staff and informed that I was wrong about the date/time of the newest appt even though I would/have never scheduled an appt during the week/my work day. I'm new to Virgina. Thats not how it's done in N.Y. and it's definitely not that expensive, but whatever...it's not where you, from its where ya at, right? So, I asked the stylist whats the latest time I can have an appointment on a Friday? She asked me how soon could I come in? I said "I can leave work around 3pm and get here at 3:15." She said ok and that the style I wanted wouldnt take long. So, cool. I'm asked over to their appointment book desk to put my name and number down. I was rudely asked to put a deposit down, which I declined, mainly because I wasn't expecting to put any money down and I hardly ever carry cash. So, I make the appointment for Friday at 3:15 and leave. Friday afternoon around 12:00-12:30, I go to the hair store on my lunch break to buy the hair the stylist asked me to buy. I called the salon and I explained that I have a 3:15 appt for braids. Im in the hair store to buy my hair for todays appt. I don't like the way the hair the stylist suggested looks, can the stylist recommend another type of hair? She recommended another brand. I asked her how many packs, she said get 4. Cool, right? So, 3:15 I stroll into my appt ON TIME and theres someone in her chair. I wait, although im a little annoyed, but I wait. Im.asked if I have an appointment. I said yes...as im standing there with a bag full of hair. I was asked to take a seat, which I did. The stylist who was going to braid my hair says NOTHING TO ME. Doesn't acknowledge me at all. She continues to tend to the client thats in her chair.I wait...and wait...and wait...Finally, at 4:00, I ask her how much longer. She says 30 to 45 MORE minutes. I said, I had an appointment at 3:15. She says, I know, I do apologize, but I had a walk in. I repeat, But,I had an appointment at 3:15. I left work early to be here. I told you when I booked the appointment that I was leaving work early to be here. She said sorry and gave an excuse about being the only one who can do natural hair so she had to take the walk in.... My thing is this: Why take my number down.if youre not going to use it when youre running behind. I couldve been at work. Why ask for a deposit to hold your spot when a walk in can come in and take your spot anyway. I wouldve been super pissed had I given a deposit and had to wait to be serviced because of a walk in Why not acknowledge your customer and be proactive about the delay? If she explained the situation when I first walked in, I wouldve went back to my office until she was ready. I would've possibly given this place a better review if their customer service was better, but to ignore appointments, demand deposits and have poor customer service...I'm good. I wont be back.

Visited this salon a week ago for starter locs. Not gonna lie, I was a little late cause I got the…read morelocation confused, but the person doing my hair--Tiff--didn't really seem all that bothered. I told her I was new to locs and I just wanted to have a conversation on loc maintence/how she's retwisting, what she retwists with, how long locs can take to dread etc. Right off the bat, she tells me: "didn't you do any research beforehand about locs?" Um yeah, I did, but I'd think a loctician would know more than some internet article? Anyway, she starts doing my hair and instead of navigating me through the process of what she's doing, she goes right in and starts comb coiling my hair with GEL. I'm not a fan of gel, nor was I aware that she was doing coils; nevertheless, I figured gel would be helpful for the sake of maintaining the locs and I thought that coils would look like locs so it wasn't all that bad. The REAL kicker was the fact that she would DRY DETANGLE my hair. Immediately sirens went off in my mind; like , you're combing dry hair without product/water? Hair breakage central. I asked her, "hey, could you apply water or product first and THEN detangle?" Her response was dismissive, that she was "already" doing it, mind you, she was only using water and gel for the comb coils NOT the detangling portion. Also she had apparently ordered food because when it came to the office, she immediately stopped doing my hair, went to the back of the salon to munch on her chicken and I KNOW it was chicken because she started eating it while doing my hair. I don't know about you, but chicken grease and hair grease doesn't sound like a good combination. After about two hours, she finishes my head, I leave and about a few days later, I start noticing the back start to unravel. Now from my research, I knew this would happen but when I asked her about the potential of my hairstyle unraveling, she said that it "wouldn't unravel any more than a normal style". Sure. Whatever you say. Only reason why I'm giving three stars is because my hair smelled really good after leaving the salon; she used rose water I believe and tea tree oil on my head so I looked and felt good. The parting was good too, but that's about it. If you're looking for a decent starter loc place and you're comfortable with a little unprofessionalism, then this is your place. AGAIN, THIS STYLIST IS NOT FOR YOU!!!!! I arrived at the shop and my stylist (Faith) assumed I knew everything she would normally do. She greeted me and walked me to her chair and then walked to the back. She then came from the back and looked at me and said, "I can't wash your hair from over there. Can I? I said excuse me...You did not tell me to come to the back. I was unsure of what you were doing. (No! No! #1) Lack of customer service and rude. We talked about styling my hair which she was on board at first. After about 30 mins went by and suddenly, she said, I forgot I need to pick up my grandson. She started asking the other stylists, "What time does the school let out? I need to get my grandson. The time was 3:15pm and her and the other stylists agreed that 3:45pm was the time she needed to be at the school to get her grandson. I left the salon around 3:30pm. I walked out of the salon looking like wooly bush woogie (my hair looked as if it still needed to be done). I drove away and waited in the parking lot until around 4:00pm and she never left to go pick up anyone. So why the lies.... I had extra money to get the style completed. If she did not know how to style hair, she could have told me. I learned my lesson. I knew I should have left from the moment she peeked her head from the back of the salon. Never get anyone without a website with proof of their works to do your hair. If you do not know them at all and never seen their works. This shows no interest in what you do nor your creativity. Faith gets customers by word of mouth. She did say to me. I get a lot of new customers all the time, so schedule quickly. I see why. You don't know how to keep lifelong customers due to your current customer service. Please save yourself the headache and frustration. Find someone that truly loves their craft. Check out stylists with websites showing off their talents, love, and customers.
