I was pleasantly surprised to find a salon here that uses non toxic products. What really convinced me to try A Beautiful Reaction was when I saw that the colorists and stylists received on-going education. I believe it's always important to improve one's skills. I also liked the mission statement on the website which says "We want to set ourselves apart by what we call the "BRe Experience." That means from educating our clients about the chemistry in our consultations, customized appointments built around your desires and budget, to the scalp massage at the bowl, and personalized follow up from our guest relations department guaranteeing our work." So I had high hopes going into my appt. Rather than going into detail for the sake of keeping this review on point, let's just say that I walked out of the salon with an experience that left a lot to be desired. I wrote to the owner Kelsey and expressed my dissatisfaction with the services provided and not only did she offer to make things right, but she offered to fix my hair herself. It really says a lot about a business when the owner is not only open to criticism but accepts responsibility. What a night and day experience I had this time. I was given five star service treatment from the offer of complimentary beverages to the warm towel and scalp massage at the sink. I am extremely pleased with the results. I definitely believe in second chances and I am looking forward to my next appointment.

THE STYLIST: Jen arrives from Salt Lake City where she had fifteen years of experience as stylist at an Aveda salon - with all the great training Aveda provides. I imagine Jen's former clients in Salt Lake must really be missing her - and their Facebook posts say that is true - because Jen just cut and colored my hair for the first time and both services were simply top notch. My hair is fine - and I have found that unlike fine wine, fine hair does not improve with age - and challenging to cut. I have tried a number of different stylists in the six years I've lived in the Boise area and Jen provided not only the best cut to fit my hair that I've had here but among the best cuts I've had in a dozen years. (And I say that from the perch that my long term stylist in my previous city was crackerjack good.)
