Nice bar, great crew, space for merch booths in the back. This is a quality entertainment venue small enough to fly under the radar. Thumpasaurus recorded us for their upcoming live album, and they debuted their new song 1 hour and 26 minutes early. Immaculate ladies' room. Affordable drinks in bottles and cans as well as draft beer and cocktails. I prefer a can so I can keep my hand over the opening.

Also those big banners block the view! either move the banners back or build the stage out so people on the sides can see who they Paid good money to come and see! Get it together before you bring big name people i hear. Upchurch is a legend and has a BIG following. We were so disappointed! And on top of all that we got stopped on the way out for a water bottle?!?!? WTF!! You charge us 9.00 for 2 bottles of water and made us throw it away before we walk out and go home??? I could see if it was alcohol but freaking water???? come on!!! We probably won't be back.

Boyfriend and I both entered in a Yelp Instagram contest to score two free tickets (since moving has definitely wiped out a lot of our dough) and we were lucky enough to actually win! Yaaaaay thanks Yelp! Got to the stadium just a smidge after one and there was already a wrap around line! But I gotta hand it to the crew they had- that line was moving and we only waited maybe 10 minutes before we were checked in with our beer sampling glass in hand! ;) A friend of ours from Greenville (who we had the pleasure of meeting in Hawaii before we left) ended up coming out to the event with her friend so we set off as the Fantastic Drinking Four! There was such a variety of breweries there and each one had a few different beers to choose from so everyone is happy! Special shout out to Beer for Boobs and their award winning lanyard contraption that held our little beer cups for us! Adjustable so boyfriend can walk around at home with a pint readily available while his hands are free, haha! Overall it was a great day of drinking, eating (I got to try Alligator for the first time!!), meeting new friends (looking at you, Sarah Jane and the Richard Crew), enjoying great music and just overall having a spectacular time. Where was Burial, Wicked Weed, Fonta Flora, anyone from Charlotte (besides Unknown, who are gross)?? On top of that, they sold WAY too many tickets. And, last but not least, the AstroTurf on the fest field was gross, coating everything -- our feet, legs, blanket, chairs -- within minutes of being there. This was likely our last Brewgrass. I'm going to stick with Burial's awesome pay as you go ($4 for a glass, $2 for tasting tickets) festivals from here on out. Way better value and the beer is so much better than the run of the mill offerings Brewgrass had. A few other annoyances I forgot to note... Dump buckets were not emptied throughout the day and overflowing an hour into the day. The line to get in at 1:45pm was way too long considering gates had been open for almost an hour. Plastic "glasses" this year? Really, you guys? You couldn't spring for real glass?!? Tacky.

Wow, what a fantastic space!…read more The Asheville Area Arts Council is located in the South Slope area near downtown Asheville. The outside of the building is painted in a gorgeous blue mural and is easy to find. The AAAC is a "collective voice for the arts" in the region. It celebrates the local art history and current working artists. They value innovation and collaboration and believe that art should be available to all! The space has galleries, studios, a media lab, and more. The art exhibit openings are great events. I recently attended their opening for "Who's afraid of Red" and was very impressed with the beautiful gallery space, large, clean and curated fabulously! The art show features all red works of art and was breath-taking to walk into. They had wine and non-alcoholic drink offerings as well as some red finger foods. I can't wait to go see this exhibit again while it's still up. This is definitely a gallery to stop by if you are a lover of the arts. While you're add it, stop at ZaPow, just right down the street as well.

Absolutely shocked to find that I have never been to the spot before. I think that perhaps I always…read morethought it was the fine arts theater or gotten confused or maybe they're advertising is so good that I've seen a lot of shows posted, but never actually had the privilege of attending. Speaking of privilege, a lot of that here. Went to see a show in the balcony the other night and it was a nice experience. Definitely wear a lot of the older wealthier Asheville citizens gather. Certainly a crowd here. Could've also been the event we went to which was a cultural performance. Ultimately, I appreciate that we have cultural performances in our city and a space for them. Parking was a little annoying just because it was Saturday downtown but I do like the space is central. Lots of places to eat at around. Finding it was incredibly easy as well. Inside, there was quite a bottleneck as we arrived about 20 minutes before the show. We did have to wait in line. It was a little bit confusing to figure out exactly where to go but some staff helped. They had wine for sale- house and pricier stuff. The house was around nine dollars a glass. I really appreciate that the staff helped us shoes and gave their opinion. The staff working the wine area was incredibly kind. The stage itself was gorgeous. It was very easy to see in here, no matter where you were.
