(Am assuming it changes to the appropriate seasonal clothing in the summer) And the Spar grocery store had Tyrells Crisps! Rather than individual store reviews, a round-up of the 3 we patronized: - Leon's was FABULOUS service - Veronika & Chloe gave us a deconstructed fish roll as mum didn't like the wrap. Plus love the water jugs with mint leaves - SPAR was a bit expensive but had end of day deals on sandwiches which were a £1 off - Fresh Food cafe's fries tasted stale (so very ironic with their name!) There were also tons of women's loos in the bathroom, and a bloke was cleaning them. Couple that with lots of parking available too, and so really quite happy we stopped here! But it marks the junction where you turn off the M5 to get to Wales, and I nearly always make a point of stopping here before tackling the M50 if I'm heading that way. It's got all the usual stuff that you would expect, WH Smiths, Costa, etc. I like the open-plan seating area in the centre that caters for all the food stands. As the services are essentially located on the M50 slip road, if you're heading back on to the M5 southbound from here, you have to negotiate a roundabout to get back onto the main motorway.

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in for its star rating and price point. The young lady at check in was very polite and helpful, but sadly it was all downhill from there. There was some kind of function going on into the night, and it was extremely loud and carried into my room at the back of the property. Breakfast was OK but certainly nothing special, and there was an extremely limited selection of cold items in the included breakfast buffet. (You had to pay for full English, even with a breakfast inclusive rate!) The very worst part though was that the bathroom was dirty (by which I mean the toilet still had someone else's poop tracks, and there was a long black hair in the bathtub - a whole lot of ick) and the housekeeping in the room hadn't been that much better. But I was exhausted from all the driving we had done that day, so I just went to sleep, and put it down as a poorly managed and run property which is a bit of a missed opportunity given the location. When I decided to email the hotel manager to discuss this feedback with him/her, I sent an email to property asking for the GM's contact details and was told that guests are not permitted to get "higher management details without their permission"! Says it all really about what "higher management" at this hotel think of their guests.

Building - is old. Cute but old. That could work but it seems it doesn't get the TLC it needs and instead just spotty fixes here and there. Difficult to drag a luggage through and very low ceilings. Definitely not accessible for anyone differently abled. Room - dingy looking and small. Size is fine since I was only in my room evenings and early mornings but I felt uncomfortable getting comfortable because the old carpet, upholstered chairs and questionable blanket made me wonder how clean the room was. A/C - doesn't allow you to adjust it at all. Bed - hard and uncomfortable with flat pillows and no sheets. A comforter only and a dingy throw blanket that I wouldn't touch. Amenities- shampoo and body wash with some bar soap is provided but that's it. No water bottles provided. Tea bags and a kettle but when I went to make a cup of tea and poured the milk packets in I ended up pouring in spoiled milk. So no cup of tea for me. There is a fridge so you can fill it up on your own. Bathroom - tub that didn't drain and backed up during first use; was quite gross. The staff was quick to fix it but due to old plumbing it is still quite slow to drain. Mold In the shower on the wall and some questionable stains on the ceiling (which is quite low and I am only 5'3"). The tub walls are high which is a feat for my short legs to get in and out of and the shower is quite narrow. A cold faucet and a hot faucet in the sink - I get that it has old world charm but it's just not practical anymore. Ground floor room (concerning to me since I'm a single female traveler but I made due) and when i came back to my room after a long day out, the window in the room was left wide open by the cleaning staff. Total safety concern at that point. Secondly, bugs had gotten into the room. I had to deal with a few months and crawly things which made their way in through the open window (with no screen). Food - Breakfast starts at 7. Food is very good but it's a late start for those who may be here for work as I am. And the restaurant closes at 10. I arrived at 10 from the airport and was stuck with no food options other than sandwiches which I couldn't eat due to being celiac. The staff was very helpful in helping me to find a take away place that was still open to deliver and gave me a pot of tea while I waited. I did not get to eat any other meal beside breakfast. The buffet is minimal so make time for the hot breakfast if you want something substantial. Two stars for the location and the lovely staff but I wouldn't stay here again. Really wish I had a portable cup of tea right now...

On a recent tour Ian was kind enough to put together a custom itinerary that my wife loved and even spend extra time past 5:00 trying to get us to all the locations despite us being quite slow given that my wife was very interested in all the buildings and takes a lot of photographs. Lunch was in a beautiful English Pub which is just what you hope for and the food was great. They're quite busy from Spring to Fall so reserve your trip early and you'll be very happy you did. There's really no better way to see the Cotswolds than this. Bravo!

You get what you pay for and its better than expected in most cases. Huge outdoor area and caravan campsite alongside the pub which means it's great for a weekend away to tour the Cotswolds.
