We contacted AHS in Latrobe after experiencing a hail storm, to get a quote on having a new roof…read moreput on. Initially, the guy that we met with was very nice, and seemed quite positive that we could also have quite a few other things replaced on the house because of hail damage. We seemed pleased with the price and signed a contract with them. The good experience ends there. After signing the contract, several months passed before we heard anything from AHS. We finally called them and we were finally sent the estimate and our insurance adjuster met with the AHS rep. A month or so after we received our estimate, our insurance company informed us that AHS had sent them two additional estimates for our house, each for THOUSANDS of dollars more than the estimate that we were given. Our insurance company opened an investigation into AHS and we were told to proceed with caution. Finally, we were told by our rep that it was getting too cold to put the roof on, and that is would be wise to wait until spring. We were fine with that, as I was about to have a baby and didn't really want to be bothered with construction on the house. As it turns out, the weekend that I had my baby was also a very warm weekend, and while we were at the hospital, AHS called and said that they were going to put our roof on. We got the message while at the hospital and called to inform them that we would be coming home with an infant and that we didn't want them at our house. We had to leave a message because the guy that called us didn't answer his phone. Upon returning home from the hospital with the baby, we found roofing material stacked in our front yard and in our driveway, and a massive dumpster in front of the house. I was livid. We called again and no one answered, so we decided to call the representative who had initially visited our house. He was very apologetic and had the material and the dumpster removed (although he asked if there was anywhere on our property that we could store the roofing materials. I said no, because I didn't want to be responsible if something was lost or stolen.) Then, once spring came, we received another call saying that it was getting warm enough to put on the roof. We were given a general time frame of when the guys would come, but we were never specifically told when they would be there. We figured they would call and give us a heads up that they were coming, but they instead just showed up and started the work without letting us know. My husband was working in the borough where we live at the time and happened to drive past the house as they were working. He was very upset that we were given no specific notice that they would be at our home on that day. To their credit, they did complete all work on our house very quickly. They put on the entire roof and put new siding on the back of the house all in one day. However, there were many mistakes that were made. An inspector for the company found several shingles were lifting, pieces of the siding were missing, and part of the covering under the window was missing. After all of those things were fixed, I began to find nails everywhere around my house. Having a small child, I worry that if he is playing in the yard, he will step or crawl on one of the nails that I haven't seen. Finally, a few months after the work was done, and long after we were sure that all of the insanity was over with, we received a bill in the mail from AHS for over $1200 for plywood that they said that they replaced on the roof. Since this was the ONLY thing on the contract that was stated that we would have to pay for out-of-pocket, and we were NEVER notified of and never approved that expense, we were VERY upset at receiving the bill. I called the lady in charge of payments and basically told her that I had had the worst experience EVER with her company, and she did cut the bill down by a few hundred dollars, but I still ended up paying nearly $1000 (Some of that was my deductible from my insurance). Since then, the payment lady (there is only one) has been inconsistent in sending me my statements, but is VERY diligent in calling and calling and calling to ask where her money is. We finally just paid the whole mess off by credit card, just to be done with it all. I honestly would NOT recommend this company to ANYONE. I hope that this will save someone the huge hassle that we went through with AHS. I truly hope that our experience is not the norm with these people, but after what we just went through, I bet it probably is. Save yourself the hassle, and take your business elsewhere.

My wife and I…read morecould not be happier with the work that was done and the experience we had with Tim Harrer Construction LLC. We had been dealing with a leak in our roof that was starting to come into the kitchen, so we were looking for someone who could start the project sooner rather than later. Also, to complicate matters, we wanted new siding on a portion of our house and the back patio suddenly needed be addressed due to wood rot from all the ice/snow this past winter. We interviewed and received quotes from 9 different roofers/companies. Tim, by far, offered the best combination of price, value, solutions, communication and expertise for all of the work that we needed done. Once we agreed to the contract proposal, Tim and his crew came out a week later and got all of the work done in 2 days with the roof portion only taking 1 day of work! It was unbelievable how efficient and effective Tim and his crew were at completing all of the work. Tim also took the time to answer all of our questions and concerns (which were plenty) and was flexible and understanding when we changed our minds and added another job (we wanted the front of our house sided to match the second story portion). Tim and his crew also did a fantastic job protecting our bushes around the house and even our lawn, as recent rainfall had made it quite swampy. Cleanup was very thorough all around our property as well! We consider it quite a blessing that we were able to find Tim to complete all of these projects for us! Even his communication goes above and beyond expectations in terms of response time with text messages or phone calls, and knowing who you are when you contact him. We would trust Tim and his crew to complete any projects we may have for our house in the future!

Luckily he did my mother's roof a few years back so she referred him. This is crucial since he doesn't have much advertising and otherwise we would have never known about him. He came out the same day he called me back to take a look at the roof. He put together an estimate and we were pleasantly surprised! About 1/2 of the most expensive bid and almost $1,100 cheaper than the cheapest bid which didn't include an additional roof to be installed over an outdoor structure. We thought we sure hope this isn't too good to be true. Tim and his crew started the job the very next week. The job went off without a hitch! Tim and his crew took just two days to rip off my entire roof and replace it with quality Owens Corning shingles, and put a metal roof on my outdoor structure. They came early, about 7:15 and worked until the job was done. They cleaned up everything and even cleaned our gutters while they were up there! I can't say enough good things about T. Harrer Roofing and Remodeling. They are a young company, but what they lack in age they make up for in professionalism, quality work, and value. Excellent job. Will definitely be using them again for other projects.
