I really was hoping this would be a hidden gem of a place. I had heard for years that it was the…read moreplace to go for affordable prices if you're a college student. However what I found was sorely lacking in training, and knowledge of customer service. The girl who cut my hair had to constantly be encouraged which is fine, but she told me that she is two weeks away from graduating after being there since September 2017. She also was acting afraid touching my head or even cutting my hair, towards the end she didn't want to style it and almost had me leave with water still in my hair. I asked her to please dry it and style, she barely touched my head again and did the opposite of styling the way I wanted. Her eyebrow wax was better, but I will say for someone who wants to work at Aveda; she really needed an extra course. I don't want to pay $45 or more to go home and have to restyle and dry my hair, then to find the ends are uneven and not cut correctly. Had to go to a salon to get my hair fixed. I tried again recently for a different service, a simple mani/pedi, I got there at 10:30 am but didn't leave until 3:05pm. What took 5hrs you may ask? The polish went bad in the middle and wouldn't dry, I had to get another color. The girl doing it smudged my hands twice and they do not have a dryer and were ready to let me leave with wet and smudged nails. The instructor looked at them but insisted it was fine, I said no these are not fine and they redid them. It took forever to dry them and my thumb was missed twice as well as being smudged over and over. The girl working on me was also at times more interested on her phone and then kept mentioning how she had a party to go to. A friend of hers walked in at my appointment sat down at the station next to her and demanded to know when we'd be done as they were late. They continued to talk only to themselves and ignore me. A mani/pedi doesn't take this long as well as having no dryer, slapped on polish, rude individuals and instructors clearly not made for the job. The fact also that they have students do 360 hours before taking clients is nonsense at the Aveda Institute it's 700hrs with instructors watching your every move. This school needs a professional makeover to say the least!
