Just checked in today. So far so good. We were not able to get a sewer site. Apparently they sold allot of the sewer sites. Do have electric n water hook ups. The RV spots are close but plenty room for our needs. We did notice couple campers are taking up two sites. The stair cases, bridges, and walkways are incredible. Leading down to the river. Excited to get the kayaks on the river. We went in and checked out the restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities. The restrooms are extreme clean. Laundry room is very nice $1.75 for washer and $1.50 for dryer. Good deal! We've paid way more at other parks. We then went and checked out the pool, and hot tub area. They are remodeling the pool and looks like they have filled in the hot tub. It is all closed for now. Nice play ground for the kiddos. Then there is a huge play room with arcade games, air hockey, huge tv room with lots of seating, big kitchen area. This RV park really has it all. I would definitely stay here again. *FYI there is a tree on one side of the park that drops down and you can only get an 11 foot vehicle under it. **Lots of events on calendar including an ice cream social ***Be aware road going up to entrance could be narrow if you passed another RV on the road.

We came here to see the Bear Cave and the Tulip Tree. I was really excited from the description online which seems a little embellished (see below). Our experience was not as "magical." First, you are pointed to a door in a cabin where the cave begins. Do you remember the Silence of the Lambs? Thats how it felt. You go down alone and when you get down there, it is wet which we expected but there is a opening to the outside and it ruins the "experience." The cave is very, very small. We then went outside to look for the Tulip tree and came across a small waterfall which honestly was the saving grace of the trip, but really not a a big deal in hindsight. We walked around looking for the tree and had to ask again where it was...in the middle of a campsite and if you blink you miss it. Overall not worth the two hour drive but the $3 per person was the actual price. Honestly, it should have been free.

Saw the "Bear Cave" sign five miles down the road and decided to continue our exploring. I'm not a 'caver' but what the heck..why not. The cave itself is kinda lame. You actually enter the thing from the gift shop. Odd. The cave itself only takes about three minutes to see and the most interesting thing down there seemed to be the natural spring. Not my bag but others might like it.

    Look out for the bears.

Sunny Brook crossed our radar so we booked 3 nights at an owners site. As life would have it, we need to cut our trip short for a family (eldery parents) situation for 2 nights, instead of 3, at Sunny Brook. Elaine explained to us, very firmly and matter of factly, that they will nor refund or give consideration for the 3rd night. As avid RVers, I find that odd. We are not in the habit of reducing our trips or canceling but, I find the matter of fact-Ness and non consideration unappealing.

They do have permanent sites and they have their own pool and clubhouse. They pick up your garbage every morning. On weekends they sometimes have music and food that you have to pre order. We did not par take. EVERYONE was so nice and friendly. EXCEPT FOR THE OLD GUY THAT GOT OUT OF THE POOL TO CLIP HIS TOE NAILS AND LEFT THEM NEXT TO HIS CHAIR AT THE POOL‍ Lots of dogs which I loved! Very quiet when we were there We would go back.

We prefer not knowing our next door camper neighbor's business. I was looking for a campground to stay at for the weekend. But, every public campground was booked till October. I happened to stubble on Kal-Haven Outpost in a google search and this place was way better than I expected. The owners are a young couple who juggle their business and their little children simultaneously. But, they do their best being focused and attentive to their customer. They answer all my questions and always return phone calls (when I attempted to call them and they were busy). Our spot was in a wooded area and was about 50-75 feet away from the next door campers. Our campsite had a fire ring, tent area and picnic table. The bathhouse is accessible for everyone staying at Kal-Haven. The bathrooms were extremely clean and awesome. So much nicer than any other campgrounds I have stayed at. And there are very nice showers with a bench and hooks for hanging clothes and towel. I would recommend this place to everyone in a heartbeat! New, clean and nicest place ever! And I love the office/store/gift shop!

I would not recommend their mozzarella sticks. The store was beyond overpriced ($4.99 for marshmallows that are so old you can tell through the bag that they are stale), and the staff was not very friendly compared to other KOA's and they were especially not helpful. (When I asked for recommendations of places to go for hikes/walks in nature nearby I was told to Google it.) If you want to have a camping experience in nature, you will be disappointed in this campground. If you want a cheap alternative place to sleep when you are visiting South Bend, maybe you will be satisfied. But please note that they felt it necessary to implement a key card system to even get into the campground. So I wouldn't feel comfortable tent camping here. (Someone with mal intent could just drive up to the campground and then get out of their car and walk into the campground. )
