Ignorant staff, inconsistent discounts, and thoroughly insulting when I disagreed with a couple of the 'hosts' (they are more like janitors).
I asked to speak with the manager, and they rolled their eyes. I insisted that they contact a manager to speak with me, and the bastard called the police! (In all honesty, he did tell me to "pack your s**t and get the f**k out if you don't like it"...which I did. However, as we drove away, in rolls the Sheriff! We were truly dumbfounded!)
Tried contacting the office in Roslyn, and was told by Fred that "well I can't do nothin' about it, I'm 25 miles away"...sorry Fred, I didn't realize that it was 25 WHOLE miles, or 30 minutes by automobile, away. Too bad you don't have a telephone there. Oh wait, you do!)
I was insulted in front of my family by these half wit imbeciles, and when I became upset by that, I was treated like an irrational jerk.
Maybe someone reading this review will think 'Suuuure, if they had to call the cops, then you must have been asking for it'...I get that, any logical person would have to consider that.
However, it is only because of this incredibly insulting and embarrassing experience that I am even writing this.
The over-reaction on the part of the Thousand Trails camp hosts was absolutely ridiculous, and completely uncalled for (not to mention a gross misuse of police resources)! There was never ANY sort of intimidating or tough guy behavior on my part. Only a rational attempt to explain that one of their people had made a mistake, and that I would like it corrected.
The problem came when Terry (one of the TT employees at Kachess Lk) told me 'I don't need this crap, y'know. It's not worth it to me, I made more on unemployment that I do at this sh**ty job'. I was a little surprised that he was telling me this, and my reply was 'well, I'm sorry to sound rude, but that is your problem, not mine'. And that is where his demeanor changed. He left and came back 5 minutes later and came strolling up to me smiling from ear to ear and said "pack your s**t and get the f**k out of here". We were both standing 5 feet from my family when he said this!
It took all I had not to go off, but I knew thats what he wanted me to do.
Instead I told him that I would be in touch with the management and he said he didn't care.
Anyway, the only recourse that I have at this point is to tell people what happened and hope that they choose another place to camp.
I understand that employees of this company are individuals, and make their own choices, as did Terry and Fred in this matter. The problem I have is that it seems that this indifference is a company policy! This incompetence was exhibited in every encounter I had with TT staff! No one knew anything! And one couple told us that they had just started there and didn't know where anything was. They said that they had been shown "where to pay and where to potty"!!! And this was the staff...The campground HOSTS!!!
Save yourself the hassle if you are going camping or considering this place, it is simply not worth it!
For the record, we are not hell raising teenagers who got upset that we got 'dissed'. My wife is a respected officer in the US Navy, and I am an EMT. We are intelligent and rational people. We have enjoyed the outdoors for many years, with a variety of different concession companies who manage our Nat'l Parks and Forests. While there have certainly been little things that we didn't agree with from time to time, we have NEVER experienced an encounter that even remotely resembled this.
