Went there with our dogs to escape the fireworks as one of my dogs barks at every explosion. The park was 2 hours south of Orlando, and had a firework ban. Originally we were given a site to park our RV however when I went to the site there was someone there already. I went back to the office and they gave me another site. The second site was much nicer than the first site so I was happy. The park is right along peace river which is famous for shark teeth. The dogs loved the trails around the river. The bad part was firework ban means nothing as we heard them well past midnight. read more

We been TT Elite members for about 2 years now. This Rv park is very nice; compared to some of the other parks. We had site C10. Very level, nice shade, good water pressure and a new electrical panel box. We actually enjoyed our stay here for two days! We checked into the park after hours on Monday and didn't go into the office. So far everyone has been nice and friendly! read more

This review assumes you are a Thousand Trails member. If you are paying $50+ or whatever they charge per night for these sites to non-members then that's a totally different ball game. We came in mid Oct and it was mostly empty. Half of the park which was the section by the river and all the water electric only sites were closed due to flooding. I'm not sure if they shut them down seasonally for the rainy season or if it's only after they flood or what, however if you are in that section watch out. It was not raining when we got there and did not rain for a week while we were there, but that section was still quite saturated. The other full hookup section consists of mostly open air grassy sites and a few sites under some nice tree cover. Obviously people gravitated towards the tree sites. Since the park was pretty empty it was kind of hard to gauge site size etc, but I have a feeling when the park is full it's no fun. There are sites built into every nook and cranny in that place. We had a site towards the back of the park under some nice trees. Our site was pretty spacious side to side although if we had people behind us that would be pretty close. Power pedestal was clean and looked in good condition and so was the water and water pressure. We had good power in the rig also. All the sites have a picnic table and a fire pit. Overall the park is very well maintained, however the dirt roads need to be taken care of. The one leading to our site looked like a scene out of a war movie. Craters that could swallow smart cars... put some gravel or something. Or better yet pave them like the other roads. Anyways the park is fine if you want to go to Wauchula (btw there is nothing much to do in Wauchula) and some of the sites have decent space especially if you come during the slow season. Staff is friendly and the park is well maintained overall. I would say its middle of the road for a TT park. I've been to better, but I've also been to a lot worse. read more

We came in on a Monday towards the end of April. The park was hit by hurricane Ian last fall and is in recovery mode but a good amount of 50 amp full hook up sites were available, most spots in the 30 amp area are still closed. The park is right by the highway but we didn't hear too much road noise. It is a beautiful park, with the Peace River running along the east side, it has lots of mature trees with Spanish moss hanging from them and walking trails along the river. We were here just a few night but enjoyed our stay very much. They do have fire ants that bite which burns like the dickens but they will come treat your site if you let management know you have activity. The bathrooms were clean and maintained and looked new. The campground didn't have a real lively feel but I put that down to recovering from the hurricane. There are a handful of decent restaurants and shopping near by. The staff were all friendly. read more

The nice thing about this campground is you can pick your own sites. There are sites with tree canopy and then there are sites that are wide open also the park has full hook up half of it does not but they explain all that on check-in. The peace river is on the back of the property and there are some nice trails to walk along there. Check in was easy and the roadways are nice and wide to get in and out of your site we have a fifth wheel and had no problem pulling in to our spot. The cons are this does seem to have a lot of long-term campers and some of the sites our little messy shall we say. There is a well-traveled road in front of the campsite so you do here traffic if you're closer to the front. There is a small pool and a small play area but not much to do other than that. The staff we came across were very friendly and if we simply wanted to get away just to camp we would return. read more

I made a reservation there on Saturday after being quoted a rate of $41.00 by Tammy. A few minutes later when she took my reservation she accidentally overcharged me by $98. She said she was not allowed to fix such problems and nobody was working who could. She promised me it would be fixed the next day. Since then I have spoken three times with someone who I think is the owner or manager. She has said she was too busy to resolve this but would at her first spare moment. So my question to the boss.... why bother having employees if you won't give them the authority and training to solve problems? Just fire them all and run the place all by yourself. And it seems like Thousand Trails is a just a gambit to roll up two-bit campgrounds and make them seem like something they're not. read more

Quaint TT location with very big spots and shade in some. We had FHU with 50 amp. River sites were closed due to flooding. Nice clubhouse with pool tables and clean pool area. Employees friendly at checkin. Only problem we had was purchasing WiFi which was really slow and only worked well after 10pm (everyone else asleep I guess.) I'd also prefer the lawn care service begin after 9am, but I'm a late sleeper so.... read more

Delayed travels due to breakdown. Found this place on line searching. A bit off our path but nice find. Trusting, friendly, accomadating. Beautiful spot, moss hanging from trees. River,. Great place EXCEPT their WiFi $5/day charge is for a signal with less than 6% power! Also, for non-1000 Trails types, you are told upon checkin, "Find your spot". (Apparently the 50 amp spots with sewage connections are assigned). That means there are constantly people searching for a "good spot" to use. We did find one after about 15 minutes of searching. They do have a "lottery" each day for sewage/50 amp service so, if you want you can apply, wait for it and then pack up and move the next day. Not worth it for two days stay! Check-in was crazy, they only have MAYBE 120 feet of space to queue up in. We sat in the entrance ramp off the highway a few minutes, But as we left there must have been four Class As stacked up outside on the highway waiting to get into the park and four more inside waiting to check in. For a big park like Peace River, You think they'd have someone on duty all of the time instead of just regular nine to five working hours. That means complaints, if any, wait until the day after you encounter them. Water was clean and fresh at our hookup. Power was at least 30 amp and there are many, many friendly campers willing to help as needed. Many picnic tables and fire pits. Wauchula is right down the road, so supplies are nearby. All in all, I would use it again in a heartbeat, bring my own internet and reserve a spot a month in advance! read more

This is an old RV Park with a lot of great old trees and it has the Peace River running through it. You can see gators sunning on the river bank on a sunny day. There are fossils to be found in the river bed. The grounds are well maintained and there are a lot of sites (I think it is over 300 sites). I'm in a site with 50 Amp electric and have water and sewer hook up. (some sites have only 30 AMP and some have no sewer). The staff is friendly and helpful and there is always someone around to answer any questions during the day. The people staying here are friendly and cool. There are shuffle board courts, bocci ball pits, horseshoe pits, pickle ball courts. There is a mini golf (Put Put) area. There is even a small dog park. The swimming pool is nice and clean and water temp is great. There is an outdoor Jacuzzi also. There are laundry rooms, meeting rooms, and a lounge with Wifi and TV and pool tables. The office has some items for sale that are useful. (no beer or food aside from ice cream) There are often things going on here - Pot Luck dinners, music and dancing on Friday or Sat night, A happy hour at the fire pit with snacks to be cooked on the fire or shared. I love the trails that go along the Peace River. They are loaded with cool palms and oaks and there are birds and animals to be seen. There are some cool towns and places to explore nearby. Wauchula has some great restaurants and shops. Arcadia - 15 min drive has tons of antique shops and great restaurants. There are lots of orange groves around and cattle ranches and horse farms around. There are lakes nearby to explore and Sebring is not far and is a cool old town to visit. There are a few things I don't like about the park. There is no cable TV at the sites. There is no WIFI at the sites. (I am used to having both at most places I've been in the 10 weeks I've been on the road so far. One thing I don't like is the spike mechanism at the gate. (if some one tried to come in the wrong way it would puncture all your tires. I've only seen that type of thing at Military Bases and it is too destructive for an RV park. I saw a kid skate boarding and almost land on the spikes - not cool. The gate code is changed every week also and makes for a hassle getting in when you don't know the new code. Update - I'm now going to address recycling at the RV Parks I visit. This park has no bins to put recycle materials. (I think most RV'rs would like to be able to recycle and help the environment) All in all - I think this is a great park and with a few minor improvements could be one of the best. I am here for my second 2 week visit and will be here for Christmas. I will look forward to staying here again. I've been adding photos. read more

Stopped here for a two week stay on our way to the Keys. It had rained a few days prior to our arrival and had heard about the soggy sites. When you first check in you are told to go pick your own site in the 30 amp no sewer section. You can sign up for relocation to 50 amp full hook ups as they become available. We were looking for a spot, thought we had a safe one, when a gentleman came by in his golf cart and suggested a site that had just been vacated and was on a little higher ground. We snagged it. We were right on the river, with a decent amount of space between rigs. If you stay two weeks in the 30 amp section, the park will comp you one pump out. If you agree to use your propane for your frig and hot water tank, they will give you a second pump out for no charge as well. We did that and stayed in this site the whole time. Only negative about this section is how far away the restroom/showers are. Nothing they can do about it though, the whole section floods regularly during the rainy season. Small price to pay for the great spot we had. Other campers in this park were very friendly. The few activities that we participated in were run well and had good participation. Would definitely stay here again. Management/staff were friendly and helpful. read more

This was just the kind of campground we were looking for. We found a shady spot with ample room betweneighboring campers. It was really peaceful. Our 4 year olds grandson loves it. He biked, scootered, helped get wood for our fires and used the playground. There was plenty to do in the area too. We will definitely return. read more

Thousand Trails Peace River - Campfire Fun - Campgrounds Near Me - Wauchula, Florida

We stayed here for a week on our way out of FL and heard great things about it. It's a really nice campground with great amenities. The grounds are nice and lush with trees and nearly every site has a tree for a nice shade, especially in the hot months. The mossy trees give it a somewhat idyllic feel and with trees over the campsites, the RV stays nice and cool. They have lots of events such as concerts, Super Bowl parties, cookouts, hot dog socials, and various little get togethers so you have a lot of options for stuff to do without leaving the grounds which I love. The bathrooms are like being in a hotel. Seriously, a large bathroom with large shower stalls, very clean and well kept and stocked. No dirty tiles or grimy grout. The women's showers have shower caddies and double shower curtains so you don't immediately step into water when you get out. The doors have locks. 4 Star Reason-The campsites are very close together, so don't expect a lot of personal privacy, but honestly, it's nice. Everyone is really friendly, most sites have a fire ring/grill and some have full hookups. They do a lottery in the busy times to see who gets a full hookup site so be prepared to maybe not get what you are hoping for but if you arrive early, you may luck out, we did. We didn't hear a lot of noise from neighbors. Their quiet time is 11pm-7am which suits us fine. All dogs must be on leashes and aggressive breeds are not allowed, so if you have a large breed, be sure to call first to make sure your fur baby is allowed. They have a lake where we saw people kayaking. A nice, clean pool, jacuzzi and a small store with basic needs like wood for $5 a bundle, sodas and candy bars, toilet paper and similar items (yes candy is a basic need!). A large bulletin board is there for events and events change often so it's nice to keep checking back. We aren't personally into a lot of the events, but it's so nice to have options and not just sit by your campground the whole time, especially for full-timers like us. A large game room with wifi access and lots of walking road. A large fenced area. Dog waste trash cans just about everywhere. 4 star reason-It is next to a highway so if you are ultra sensitive to highway noise, this may bother you and you might want to see if you get a site far away from the entrance area. loved it so much we stayed another day...bike trails are amazing the kids enjoyed it ..get ready to use those gears! trails were shady, cool and muddy nice relief from the sun. theres also another trail by the river whxih was a great experience as well. we decided to be by the river (not a full hook up site) saw a gator, kayakers and boaters come by. It rained really bad one night it flooded a bit. again the kids enjoyed riding their bikes around the camp ground because of the slopes. 20 min drive to solomons castle which is a must see! we did not do the fossil sifting thing but its apparently a thing to do here. there are only 2 bathroom/shower sites same with dumping station. rode our bikes down to shower. shower had a/c and private shower/dressing stalls. pool is small with a hot tub...staff were all very welcoming and helpful. saw 3 deers run thru the site on our last day! read more

This place uses a bizarre lottery system to assign full hookup sites. Upon arrival we were instructed to temporarily find a water and electric site, park our rig without setting up and then come back to the office to get the lottery list. This list changes daily and it contains all of the available sites with a sewer connection. I walked back to the office and decided to hang around for the 2:00pm lottery announcement. Against all odds, our name was called towards the end. Yay! I then chose back-in site A18 without inspecting it first and boy was that a HUGE mistake! The site is a horrific sandpit with lots of deep ruts and dangerous exposed tree roots. Our rear wheel drive class A motorhome almost got stuck in deep sand several times. Trailers and fifth wheels should have no issues as the truck will have much better traction near the road. The site is also very unlevel. We did enjoy the fantastic tree shade though. Great hiking/biking trails along the river. Decent reception for our AT&T and Verizon phones. Excellent free wifi at the lodge. Clean bathrooms and showers. Above average laundry room facilities. The machines take quarters and credit cards, and it is only $1.75 to wash & dry. Lots of kids running around so watch your speed. read more

Call the after-hours host at 5:30 am..I Thank GOD at 5:30 am she was very nice,and very helpful in assisting us in locating the perfect camp site.. a god-send! STUCK IN THE MUD....This place is a "hell hole". Very crowded, nobody wears masks, and people are constantly stuck in the mud. On arrival, I told the reception girl I did not want to be stuck in their muddy flooded sites. Then she told me about the lottery. What a joke. I had requested a 50 Amp site with full hookups. I should have known better. We had been there before, and had it not been for my Ford 350 dully, I would still been there stuck in the mud. On arrival on Friday, February 19, 2021. I again heard the "spill". Drive around and pick a spot. Well, the only spot we could find was in the same grassy area we had been before, except this time we were in a Class A Motorhome. Our site was 57P. Only 30 Amp service and water. No sewage. We parked, called to get on the lottery list, but was informed that we had to go to the office at 2:00 PM the next day. Then we saw the result of their lottery system. People could not change sites if they wanted to. Most were stuck in the mud. We had enough and attempted to leave and go home. OPPPS- we were now stuck in the mud again. If it hadn't been for some very nice people we would have still be there stuck in the mud. Never go there...it's a joke. Go to Walmart or Cracker Barrel. Our free 1 year membership from Lazy Days RV is no good here. Thousand Trails Peace River is a true "HELL HOLE". They won't ever see us again...... read more

We had a blast here last weekend! There was barely anyone there, maybe its too hot right now? We had our own little "panning" spot by the river and hardly saw another soul the whole day. The river was clear, the bottom easy to see, which made fossil hunting all the better. Need to return to explore further, we hardly moved from our secluded spot. read more

We came in after hours and it is a pick your own spot -except many spots are flooded or without electricity and you have to figure out which ones on your own. The entire park is grass-no concrete spots -so be careful if it rains!!! The facility was unmowed and not well kept. read more

I've booked, paid for, and been canceled for the 4th time for a cabin here. No notification on ANY of the cancellations. I've called the last two times to confirm and was told the cabins weren't "ready." Completely disappointed with the lack of customer service, the lack of notification of cancellations, and the overall way this business functions. If you want to look forward to a family weekend several times, pay for it, and the. Have to spend hours on the phone to make sure it's a go when it's not- this place is for you. read more

Experience "Old Florida" and all there is to see locally, "Grillin and Chillin", the free Royal Lippizan horse show, fossil hunting and an older well kept campground. The pool is usually very comfortable. read more

We have been at this camp ground several times thru the years. We went this last weekend and was not happen with the way we were pretty much told were we could park and alot of staff were not friendly. And we know the low parts and have seen this park flooded beyond belief and they sure enough parked use in low area even though this really isn't rainy season the ground still isn't so solid. I was very unhappy. The whole situation the way they are doing things is a total mess up.. And our information it states check out was12 well about 10 the morning we were to leave a worker came by not a friendly good morning or hello nope Nota just comes up and says your departing today. My hubby says yes sir he says well departure time is 11, my hubby says well the paper work says 12, the worker states well that's incorrect. ... Well what kinda crap is that.. Well anyway we did not get out by 11as it was to soon.. This was a very dis appointed trip... I sure hope they don't continue this mess it was just fine with the lottery the way they had it.. They are gonna lose customers.. A big rig across from us was put in low area and ended up having to get pulled out due to ground was to soft.. This was our first time at Peace River and there are alot of activities for the young and old. I did some fishing in the river, as well as joined in a bluegrass jam outside of an RV camper. The heated pool & hot tub is awesome. On the downside: Do not assume you will get full hookups with sewage. Most likely you will have to go into a "lottery" to get that site. The showers & bath roooms are closed every morning 8-9am for cleaning. And if you need to use the showers, some people are full time RV'ers and have 6-7 children. That makes for a long wait in line. They have gate codes to enter but beware of tire spikes at certain entrances. The people are friendly & we will return soon. There is a super Walmart nearby read more

Nice big park. However never had to be a part of a lottery before. We had a reservation and when we got there we had to wait for the lottery??? We were told to go look around. They gave us a list of the sites that would be open and check the ones you might want. Then just park along the road and wait? Strange. There were a lot of sites closed due to damage from the latest storm. Maybe that is why they had a lottery? We did get a nice roomy site. no cable - WIFI only in the common area. Not sure I would return. I LIKED THE PARK but the lottery was not something I would like to do again. read more

This place is a hell hole. You get a 30 AMP site with no sewer hookup until you get a site via a lottery system. The site I got through the lottery had electrical problems. The 50 AMP breaker kept tripping off. I called the office at 3 PM in the afternoon and left a message and no one ever called back. (The breaker had tripped multiple times during the day). I walked up to the office at 4:30 PM to see if the maintenance personnel could come check the breaker. The office hours were posted as open until 5 PM but the office was closed. I went back to my motorhome and called the "emergency number". It rang about 15 times before a very rude lady answered. I told her the problem and she said the electrician had been to the park the previous day for another problem and they wouldn't call him back again unless there were more than two problems in the park!! I asked what I was supposed to do in the meantime and she said I could move to a 30 AMP site. So, if I moved, I would have had no sewer for 6 days. I told her the park was a hell hole and hung up on her. I fought the 50 AMP breaker for 6 days and the park never came to look at it. (I have been home for 3 days and have been hooked up to 50 AMP service at my home and have been running all 3 AC's, the microwave and the electric water heater all at the same time and have had no problem, so it wasn't a problem with my coach's electrical system). Mid week, the park was mowing the grass. The guy running the grass trimmer cut into my 50 AMP cord. I didn't discover it until we were ready to leave. I didn't bother to tell the office as I knew they wouldn't do anything about it. The guy running the leaf blower came down the aisle we were on and was blowing leaves off the DIRT aisle! You can imagine the dirt and dust that covered every RV in that aisle after that moron got done. When we got ready to leave the park was having park model homes delivered. The exit aisle was blocked by the vehicles delivering the park models. The management of the park did not have anyone out giving directions or have any signs giving directions to a new exit. One gentleman had to unhook his tow vehicle to be able to back up and go to another aisle to exit. I wouldn't go back to this hell hole again if it was the last RV park in Florida. It is evident the owners and management don't care about customer service and have no clue how to run an RV park. The sad thing is the park has potential and could be nice if they would upgrade the sites to 50 AMP, have sewer and cable and have employees that knew what they were doing. If you are looking for a nice RV park with full hookups where you don't have to choose one site and then move the next day then stay the heck away from this dump. You will be doing yourself a favor. read more

Beautiful spot for a rv vacation with nice bathrooms and showers. Plenty of grass and areas to walk dog. Beware however sand might be irritating to dogs. May cause irritation on skin (someone else's dog needed a shot) and there may be fleas. Our dog got fleas. A lot of love bugs during season. read more

Run far away from this place, another 1000 trails dump of a camp ground. We were greated with signs informing us the pool was, has been, and will be out of order. Oh and as a bonus there was no ice. Now we drive around to find a site. Going down one road there is a staff member on a golf cart stopped talking to someone. We pull up behind, and she does not acknowledge us but rather keeps on talking. So we sit and wait and she is still talking. Then she pulls forward 10 feet stops and talks some more. Half of the sites are with out sewer and in a flooded muddy area. Full hook ups are unlevel and tight. As we tried pulling into a site we were accosted by the,golf cart lady,telling us we pulled in the wrong way and could be charged $100. Stay away, there are many great places to stay in Lakeland. We are in Sanlan and it is a paradise. Peace river is a text book example of the 1000 trails net work. They fill up the place with year rounders, and don't spend a dime to keep the place maintained.
