I would go here every day if it was much closer. Everything all natural you want you could think of in the veggie/fruit scene. They got it. Lol or at-least more then most places. I did a diy smoothie and it was bomb. Also seen someone get served a yolo bowl and thought it looked so nice that from a far I thought it was the famous Quinoa bowl! Lol Places never had Quinoa but now I am finally starting to be able to find them places out there and this is one of them. I am very curious how natural there tofu scramble is and how tasty they made it at the same time! When I come best this is what I anticipate on trying out next :). The service was nice. Popped in for lunch. After I ordered I went into the restroom. It was absolutely filthy, feces all over the toilet, overflowing trash cans and debris and dirt all over the floor. I reported it when I exited. The two employees stared at me with blank faces. No apologies, no "will get right on that". "We have people coming and going all day", the man says. Really? You still need to have staff assigned to check and clean the bathroom throughout the day. It's food service, for goodness sake. I didn't say that he was coming out of the restroom just as I went in so he clearly knew the shape it was in. Waited 45+ minutes for our food (3 sandwiches and tacos) and two smoothies. Food was bland, sandwich was toasted so bread was rock solid, and we only received one smoothie. Customer service was nonexistent and food was pricey ($70). And, after inquiring about food/smoothie multiple times, ended up just getting a refund on the missing smoothie. Outside tables were dirty. Very disappointing and frustrating experience... I was excited to see a fresh/local/organic option near the freeway (and the name was certainly endearing), so stopped for one of their bowls. I asked for three different menu items that were all out til I got to the quinoa, which they did indeed have the ingredients to serve. I was hungry so just ordered that. The food was ...fine- not good, not terrible, and much smaller than I expected. I didn't care and normally would not write a review for this situation- But... My partner ordered something which was apparently forgotten for a while, and when they finally were making it, they were out of the ingredients to make her order, so she cancelled it and asked for a refund. They were confused about how to run a refund so took her name and said her credit card would be refunded "within 24 hours"...and it has been well beyond that time, and she hasn't received the refund. The service was apathetic. I would have expected someone to care a bit more or try (anything) to remedy these experiences, but it seemed like they were used to not having ingredients and like this situation was typical. I hope they can get it together because this place has potential otherwise! read more

I ordered an Acai smoothie here, but the smoothie I ordered came out after the person who ordered after me. Mine took 15 minutes to make while the person who ordered after me got hers before me in less than 5 minutes. I guess you have to be a regular to get decent service. Upon receiving my order, to my surprise there was not only almonds, but cashews as well. Not only did they fail to mention the contents of nuts in the menu, they also failed to answer my question truthfully. I love this place as it is one of the few places downtown Davis where you can actually get 'healthy things'. Everything is freshly prepared, staff is friendly and their drinks are awesome. Plus, being lactose sensitive, I love their selection of milk substitutes. This time I had the Cardamom Queen with cashew milk. Although I preferred it hotter (it came out lukewarm after already having asked to make it extra hot) the flavour was delicious! The grilled 'italian style' sandwich I had was also quite tasty. The food is healthy and the portions are just the right size. I would eat here all the time if it wasnt so expensive. Considering the portions are super small, the prices should be lower, but in fact dont reflect the actual quantity of food. I understand quality is important, but the food and smoothies are a bit over priced. Smoothies are simple, but lack flavor for their price. Only two people working and they were very busy. We ordered two drip coffees, honey berry toast and a breakfast burrito. 30+ min later the burrito was done, but still no honey berry toast. She made it for me, but it wasn't accurate. It was supposed to have jam, peanut butter, honey and almonds. All it had was jam and a couple apple slices. I first ordered one meal from them which took about 20 minutes. If I had not confirmed with the staff after 10 minutes, my order wouldn't have been made. They came up to me later on and served me the wrong order. I guess it was a busy time but my order apparently slipped off so they didn't see it. I didn't get an apology or anything. When my meal came in it was really bland and flavorless, half the plate was covered in raw spinach. Its definitely healthy but not sure about the quality of food. So my partner got up and ordered me an avocado toast. It took a while, which I understood because it was a little busy so I instead stood right by the kitchen so they wouldn't have to go around and look for me. I also wanted to confirm my order was right this time. However, while I was watching, I saw how my toast was being handled. It was utterly insanitary. When placing my bread in the toaster, she accidentally got it caught between the lid and she slammed in between. When she opened the oven, it fell right on the dirty lid, so my bread got contaminated. I watched her put that same bread in the designated rack to toast. I wanted to clarify if it was my toast being made and I kindly asked if they can remake it using a new piece of bread. The lady went up to the chef who was making my food but I noticed that my bread wasn't even remade because I was standing there watching the whole time. So the chef who made it came up to me and handed me my food and I confronted her whether my bread was remade. She claimed it was but it really wasn't. No apologies either. I didn't want to create a commotion so I just left really sad. I don't think this place is as welcoming or safe as they claim to be. read more

Was not really impressed with the food. The "smoothie bowl" was more like a light pudding. What was served was very thick, heavy, and hardly cold. I was really hoping for something lighter and refreshing. Left disappointed in the food especially given the price - $11.00+ for essentially glorified porridge. The upside is the fact they have an excellent kids area with a variety of toys and low seating. Our son loved it and gave us a chance to sit for a bit. I came here out of curiosity, and I was pleasantly surprised. The place is tucked away behind the Amtrak station, so it can be a bit hard to find. However, I loved the cozy and familiar feeling and also how calm the place was, especially compared to other coffee shops. I decided to get a pour over coffee and The Goddess smoothie bowl with pea protein, and I made the best decision. The coffee reminded me of Blue Bottle and Verve in SF (I'm a Bay Area native with strong coffee opinions) and was about a dollar cheaper than Blue Bottle too. The smoothie bowl wasn't too sweet, and there were plenty of toppings on it. I especially liked how clear the menu was (e.g. clearly stating vegan and gluten-free options). While this place is a little pricey compared to other places in Davis (total order coming out to under $20), it is relatively affordable if you consider the quality of the food and compare it to similar places in places like the Bay Area or New York. I will definitely come back here for an occasional treat or a possible study spot. read more

Came in from Utah to visit my sister. We stopped here on the way to the airport for a healthy lunch. We knew nothing about the place going in. Just happened to notice it on the way to a nearby thrift store. The menu has a nice selection of healthy salads, sandwiches, and smoothies. Prices seemed a bit high, especially considering how small the portions are. My sister's salad looked more like a side. A slice of bread to go with it would have gone a long way. The bread on my tofu sandwich was nice, but the filling was minimal. The salad that comes with it is tiny--and apparently the homemade pickle is simply two small slices of cucumber. I'm a fan of under promising and over delivering. This was the opposite. We liked that all the ingredients were fresh and local. Self-serve cold water is a plus. Friendlier customer service would help. Our interactions were very transactional. Not bad, but not great. read more

I've come here about 10 times since it opened a few months ago and have been disappointed more times than satisfied. I should probably stop trying so hard to like this place. I think it's important for customers to understand TLC tries to make as much as possible from scratch. They're thoughtful about their use of sugar and really try to be healthy. This is why they (unfortunately, more often than not) can miss the mark on flavor ... and texture. I had a scone the other day that I just had to throw away. It wasn't even edible. I've also been served undercooked rice and several grainy warm drinks. (I don't know what's wrong with the drinks because I've recreated their recipe [with my own measurements] at home and they were fine.) I really appreciate the children's play area, but it's filthy and some toys are broken or missing pieces. So, the play area seems more like a few bins of castoffs from the owner or from Goodwill than a sweet gesture to guests. I wouldn't put these toys out for my friend's children. Nor would I serve most of TLC's food to guests in my home. That's kind of a basic bar of acceptability to me. If I wouldn't make the Grain Bowl (which didn't come with pickles, the mixed greens were substituted with romain, and I'm pretty sure someone forgot the cumin and orange dressing because there was no flavor) for guests in my home, why would I pay five times the cost of the ingredients to eat it at a cafe? So, lots of good ideas, but more attention to detail is needed. read more

Fresh and delicious food, friendly, accommodating and attentive staff! I found this gem on Happy Cow, driving back from the Bay Area! Walking in, I felt instantly at ease. The decor is clean and inviting with fun vibes. They have free WiFi and the service was quick and even have compostable to go silverware. There were plenty of vegan options from which to choose. I had the kale and quinoa bowl... so yummy! It is super easy to get to from I-80, so don't miss this wonderful place! read more

I was very excited to try this place but it was a bit disappointing. I got the biscuit with egg salad and my friend got the kombucha on tap and the frittata plate. Portion size was too small considering the price. Everything tasted very healthy, but it also didn't taste like much. I think they avoid using sugar and salt (or at least thats what it tasted like). The biscuit was decent but the egg salad tasted like nothing. It looked like it had pepper but it didn't taste like it. My friend got the vegan scone and she said it was pretty dry.
