Also I live in the country and I need a mouser. I have had 5 cats, all from kittens, and only the one male disappeared at age 4. I am sure it was because he would go out hunting and he became the hunted. I learned a lesson from that and never got a male kitten again.The 4 females lived out their full lives. I called the Humane Society seeking 2 more female kittens. They refused me any kittens as I live in the county and "they would die". They did offer me barn cats, which I suppose would just automatically take to my barn and "would not die". I do not understand that thinking at all. So it is okay if a barn cat, who they do not know will remain in my barn, is preferred to a kitten who would stay close to my home because I have bonded with it. But in their thinking, the kitten will die. It's okay to give me a barn cat if it dies, but not a kitten. Does this make sense to anyone? I feel they are saying, "sure we will give you a barn cat - who cares if they die. We know for sure that if we give you a kitten it will die." I have had four kittens, and none of them died except from natural causes or a health problem. Since it was near the end of kitten season, I was only able to get 2 kittens that were already 3 months old, from a woman who told me they were from a feral mom. Not knowing what I was getting myself into, I was glad to take them. I tried and tried to bond with them but it seemed hopeless. When I called the Humane Society to ask questions regarding feral kittens the woman I got instructions from was nothing less than a grouch! Something is definitely wrong at that place. I do not care how hard they work to take in animals, with all the negative reviews, they need to learn how to treat people and instructions in how to run a business.

You won't find any foods with by-products, corn, wheat, or soy in them. It's majority is dog & cat products like food, toys, treats, beds, crates, leashes, collars and supplements, (and more!) but there is also a smaller section for birds, Guinea pigs, rabbits and other rodents. The staff is wonderful, everyone is very kind and honest and helpful. If they don't have the answers or products- they do the best to find it for you either way. They also have an adorable shop cat that lives in the shop! Almost all the foods and treats and things are also on a buyers program so you can get discounts and free bags of food for being a regular buyer too, so that's really nice as well. There is an independent groomer who works there in the Grants Pass location as well. She only works on one dog at a time so it's not a large grooming facility or self-service, but no kennels so it's less stressful on the dogs and she does a wonderful job. In all, absolutely recommend you check this place out, I've learned a lot of people don't realize it's there since it's a little tucked away but it's in the same parking lot as wild river pizza in GP!

When I called to make the appointment, I explained that I was nervous about proceeding with vaccinations due to his previous reaction and wanted a detailed discussion to help me prepare. I was assured that we would have a discussion regarding the previous reaction and a plan on how to move forward, but unfortunately, that did not happen. I was given a single sheet listing vaccines and their purposes(that I had to press for), but nothing addressing my specific concerns about adverse reactions or a personalized plan for my dog. I tried asking specific questions regarding the neutering--such as whether he would need a cone after surgery and if he could be around his brother afterward--but instead of receiving basic information, I was simply told, "We will go over that when you come in for the appointment." That was the whole reason I made this appointment in the first place. They let me know they had discharge paperwork. When I asked for discharge paperwork to review in advance, I was told they would provide it later. They mentioned they could build me a packet with all kinds of information, but it wouldn't be ready today- despite me clearly outlining what I needed before the appointment. The actual visit felt rushed and uninformative. My dog was weighed, given a quick visual check, and that was it--yet the cost was $62. My boyfriend's 4-year-old dog had the same experience and was also charged $62 (we brought them together) Additionally, when we asked for their nails to be trimmed, my dog moved slightly after the cut, and we were immediately told he would need to be sedated to finish. This was his first time there, and a little nervousness should have been expected. On top of all of this, our appointments were scheduled for 4 PM. We arrived 15 minutes early to provide records and complete any paperwork, yet we weren't called back until nearly 4:30--only to receive a basic weigh-in and visual check. I was really hoping for a more thorough and informative visit, especially given the specific concerns I expressed in advance. Unfortunately, the experience left me feeling unprepared and uncertain about the next steps for my dog's care.

The staff has been very kind & helpful with suggestions & lots of samples for me to try to find something that works for my needs. I also love that they help pets find homes as well. The staff was competent , compassionate and communicative. Upon pick up, I was brought into a room where we discussed everything. That alone made me question the level of care being given to the animals. I also purchased 9 neon green rasboras for my community tank. I live only about a two-minute walk from the store, yet 6 of the fish were dead by the time I got home. The remaining three died off one by one shortly after. When we called the store to ask about a refund, we were informed there had been an outbreak of ich in the neon green rasbora tank. We were also told that one fish was already dead in the tank at the time of purchase. This information was not disclosed to us before buying them. Between witnessing fish being mishandled, the lack of transparency about disease in the tanks, and the rapid loss of every fish we purchased, I cannot recommend this store. The fish do not appear to be properly cared for, and the staff did not seem knowledgeable or forthcoming about the health of their livestock. I hope the store improves its animal care practices and communication with customers moving forward.
