If I could give zero stars I would. My sister and I went in to purchase some frames. Front desk receptionist were real nice told us to go ahead and start looking. The staff was helping a couple patients they had that were also getting glasses. Upon those patients leaving three of the girls began talking poorly about the patients that had just left. We continued looking for the frames we wanted and were maybe about 2 feet away when they began to talk poorly about us. It was very unprofessional of them to be doing this and makes the whole facility look bad. Needless to say we did not end up purchasing anything and will never go back. read more

I had a very disappointing experience at Three Rivers Optometry. I brought in my sunglasses to have my prescription put in them. I was told that it would be $70. A week later they called me and told me that the cost was now $205. I told them I would just like my glasses back and I was told that it would cost me $110 to have the original lenses put back in. I talked to the office manager and he told me there was nothing they could do for me. He was very indifferent to the whole situation. The whole experience was VERY frustrating. My wife and I will no longer using Three River Optometry for our vision care. I would advise being very careful with this business. Their customer survive was awful. They were willing to lose two customers that will be buying glasses every other year for the rest of their lives over standing behind what they said. Find a doctor's office that cares more for their patients than the bottom line. read more

I've been going to 3 Rivers for at least 15 years. I've never had a negative experience here. The doctors are all wonderful and patient in explaining what's happening to my eyesight. The office is beautiful, and they have a huge selection of eyewear. Every time my husband or I have an "eye emergency" they get us in within 24 hours. They've never tried to sell me a product I don't need or glasses I don't need. I would highly recommend 3 Rivers to anyone. read more

My eye exam part of my experience with them was flawless, but it all went downhill from there! *My husband ordered contacts and it took over a month to get the trial pair. (Usually he gets them in about a week.) *They never even called him when they were finally in. He called them one day (again!) to check & they said they had come in. So they scheduled an appt for the fitting. *We arrived at the appt and (a) they didn't even know why we were there or what the appt was for (b) had to look all over for his contacts and (c) tried to charge us a fitting fee of about $50 WHICH WE HAD ALREADY PAID!!!!!! *I had already ordered glasses at that point. (Feb 11th) I was told about 10 days. *I called to check on them and was told it would be a while longer, but no later than Friday & then never heard back. *It's now Wednesday, March 2nd (And I ordered them Feb 11th!!!) & I still don't have my glasses, so I call them and wouldn't you know it, they're there! The lady said they sent me a text message?!?! First of all, I never signed up for text messages. Second of all, I never received a text message from them! Thirdly, sending a text message for vital information is extremely unprofessional for a doctor. I am beyond pissed. The dr is wonderful. His staff is a hot mess. Needless to say, we won't be back. read more

While the doctors in this office are great, one of the people who does the eye pictures is definitely not nice. She makes the patient feel inferior because she can't get a good shot. She was shoving my head against the machine and was asking if I had deep-set eyes ore something. I was made to feel like everything was my fault or like I was deformed in some way. If you are needing Gas Permeable Hard Contacts, be aware that they are NOT accepting new patients. Drove an hour and spent 40 minutes filling out forms only to be turned away, since GP's are "so hard to fit". I'd specified that was the reason for the appointment when I made it, confirmed it and when I arrived at the office. Two stars because the office was clean, COVID precautions taken and staff personable. read more

When I was a kid Dr. Taxera was my optometrist, now that I'm older and have my own insurance I am again a patient of 3 Rivers Optometry. The facilities are quite nice. Though the waiting area is quite small, only 4-5 chairs. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Dr. Toleman is now my optometrist & I am quite happy. He's a kind man with a gentle nature. He was very open to any questions I had and did not make me feel rushed so he could get to the next patient. They have a nice assortment of frames to choose from. They have 'economy' frames all the way to designer like Coach, D&G, Dior & Fendi. And to be honest the Coach frames I got were pricey but not extraordinarily out of my budget. Granted I also have decent insurance. The staff who are in the lenses area of the building are very kind & patient. They of course will try to up-sale you on everything but don't pressure you. I decided against the fancy-dancy lenses material and suck to plastic (for price purposes of course, my insurance will only cover plastic lenses). The gal I was dealing with just went over the differences of course between both but when I choose to just do plastic she didn't pressure me. I think she did her job well without being pushy. So, if you have insurance, I would defiantly suggest this business for your eye care needs. (If you have medical you should call ahead and see if they accept medical.) Oh yeah, and I don't believe you have to have an appointment, but it would really benefit you if you did. read more

I went to see Dr. Toleman for years and he always said my vision changed but not much. I could not see for the past 4 months and I finally went to a new eye doctor. My prescription from Dr. Toleman was L -1.00 and R -2.25. The new eye doctor I just saw said my current REAL prescription is L -1.75 and R -3.25. NO WONDER I COULDN'T SEE! Not to mention using insurance with this doctor is a JOKE. read more

My husband and I both had appointments with Dr. Tolman on 2/21/17. He was fantastic - didn't rush us and gave very thorough explanations of test results and when answering my questions. That was the only good part of the experience there. There is no one available to help with frame selection and/or advice although I was the only one looking at frames. Staff had no interaction until I picked out my frames and needed to pay. I was told it would take two to three weeks and that they would call when my glasses came in. My husband's glasses came in in 2 1/2 weeks and he only knew because he had called and was told they were in (they didn't call him as he was told). On Friday 3/17 my husband and I stopped in to Three Rivers to see if my glasses were in because we didn't trust they would call. The receptionist called someone in the back to check - Michelle (later told me her name is Michelle but who knows - doctors' office where the staff do not wear name tags or any ID) came out and said they were not in but she would call the optician to see what the hold up was and call me later that day. No call from her Friday or the following Monday. Today we stopped in again since it is now 4 weeks with no glasses. Receptionist called to the "back" to have someone help us. We waited about 15 minutes until another employee asked if we had been helped. We explained the situation and she checked for us . Michelle came out and said she just put a call in to the optician and they didn't call back. I reminded her that we were there first thing in the previous Friday which gave her the whole day to get info for me. I asked her if she called them again when the optician never called her back - she said no. She said it was our fault because our insurance company requires them to use that optician. We have had this vision insurance for 30+ years and never heard this before. She gave us attitude and when I asked for her name she laughed at me! I said I wanted to speak to a doctor. She was gone 5-7 minutes then a man introduced himself as Patrick (no indication what his job title is). He told me he could not expedite my glasses but how can he make this right. Seriously? I explained that Michelle thought the whole thing was funny and had laughed in my face. I said his customer service was dreadful and that we would no longer get our exams or glasses there due to Michelle. I asked for a refund as I no longer wanted the glasses (Patrick was carrying a tray that they use when you pick out your frames for going to optician - now I am not even sure my glasses were ever ordered). Again, Dr. Tolman is a gem - unfortunately for me, he works at Three Rivers Optometry. 3/25/17 an update I went to Stanton Optical in Yuba City to order my glasses. So many differences At Stanton no personnel were trying on glasses and fixing their hair while working Sarah introduced herself (and wore a name tag) - she also helped me pick out the right frames for me unlike Three River Mo worked with our insurance to get my benefits back after I had cancelled my order at Three Rivers. He also worked with Sarah to get me the best deal. I ended up getting 2 pair of progressive bifocals (the best quality ones). The cost for two pair was just $46.40 more than what Three Rivers charged for one pair. The atmosphere at Stanton is upbeat and the staff very helpful. Elliot was the first person to greet us - very nice with a good sense of humor. Will definitely go back to Stanton for all our exams and glasses from now on. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Taxera's for nearly 30 years!! He is amazing and loves hearing about my family's growth and adventures. I have seen him faithfully every year! He insists on having a friendly, family-oriented, and accommodating staff. If someone doesn't fit that bill, they don't last. There has never been a high turnover rate where employees are concerned. All of my children see him, and he's getting to meet my granddaughter on visits! I'm sure the other doctors there are great as well. read more

If you check the other reviews I've left you'll notice I am almost entirely positive. Normally if I can't leave a good review I don't leave one at all, but the pure laziness of the staff at this place is absolutely infuriating and their horrible customer service deserves a bad review. I gave a ride to a young patient who, because she was once in the Foster Care system, is on Medi-Cal/State Benefits. Unfortunately, the state is often frustrating to deal with: be it an appointment with a medical doctor or dentist, the initial feedback when checking for her eligibility on the computer is that she is not currently active. I've been with her at half a dozen appointments and this issue arises every time. The solution is for the reception staff to make a phone call to the state office- a number provided right on the benefits card for just such an occasion-and speak directly with an agent. I told this to the receptionist and she refused to make the call, stating that these days the computer tells them all they need to know and there is no need to call. ("We just don't do that"). From experiences with other medical appointments, we know better. For some reason there is a glitch with this person's account that is ALWAYS cleared up with a phone call. Sure, it's a pain in the butt to have to talk to a live person instead of typing into the computer, but sometimes it's necessary. The patient called the number herself from her cell phone. As expected, her eligibility was verified. She took her phone to the receptionist, who was informed that she was indeed eligible and that a letter stating that fact would be faxed by the end of the business day. At the dentist or medical offices, this is always enough. Not here! They told this patient that she will have to be rescheduled because they won't see her until the fax actually arrives. It is my opinion that this decision was made, in large part, due to hurt ego: they'd refused to make the call themselves and insisted that "the computer says you are not eligible and that's what we go by now," which was disproven by a simple phone call made by the patient-a call they should have been willing to make themselves. This patient moves out of state in a week, and made that fact known. She is on an extreme time crunch and her benefits expire soon. Verbal authorization from the state - with the promise by the state's representative to fax an eligibility letter - has always been enough at other medical offices and should have been sufficient in this case as well. This was a case of very, very poor customer service. read more

First time to see Dr Tolman. Great experience, very personable, took all the time necessary to do a complete check-up. Explained things well. Answered all my questions completely. He gets 5 stars. Front desk reception was present and efficient, slightly robotic in their interaction. The Lens & Frame personal were very aloof in their interaction once I presented them with the glass frames I selected. They look and act like they wished it was the weekend. They answer questions with no emotion or further explanation. I've had contact with them several times and it's always the same. I was told 2-3 weeks to complete my glasses, and the actual turn around was 6 weeks. The glasses came in and they didn't call me. It wasn't until I called that they said, "oh yeah they're here". I had called to check many times before and each time I was told, "we'll call as soon as they come in". That gets 3 stars. Prices - Even with my insurance eyewear prices are high. I will probably not get my eyewear there next time. They do have a two years warranty though so that's a plus for paying more. That gets 2 stars. After getting my sunglasses I wanted to see if the lenses could be changed to progressive. Over the phone I was told $160. I went in a few days later and was told it would be $560! I was shocked and mentioned I was told $160 over the phone, and the cold reply was "nope, $560". That would make my sunglasses nearly $1000 glasses. I said that's too much, the employee said okay and handed me my sunglasses back. No suggestions or other options. That gets 1 star and the loss of a customer. I located another optometry center that would do it for $140 complete in 2-3 days. That gets 1 star. So, if it wasn't for Dr Toman I would probably have the total review score at two stars. read more

Would give this place 5 stars but the wait was like 40 min to be seen with an appointment. Been bringing my kids here for a couple years usually the wait is not as long. Will still keep coming back, friendly staff and doctors. read more

I love this place. My eyes are pretty good I've always had 20/20 vision, but I was told every time I had an exam that my left eye wasn't as good as my right. I had been prescribed glasses in the past, but I honestly never could tell a difference if I wore them or not. Until now, Dr. Taxera was amazing! He took his time and helped me get the exact right Rx for me. I love wearing these glasses, and don't get me started on the prescription Maui Jims I got. Best sun glasses I've ever had. I love this office!! The staff is always super friendly and inviting. Any questions I have they answer without hesitation. The fountain is a nice touch and is very relaxing. They have a HUGE selection of frames, which can get a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for. I was seeing a different optometrist a while back and I didn't like that she talked down to me like I was a child. The Dr's here are always friendly and knowledgeable and up to date on current eye health information, and they talk to you like a real person. I refer everyone I know to this office!!! read more

New to the area and had to find a optometrist. Large selection of frames. Nice office. Staff friendly. However both me and my husband felt the our evaluation went too quickly. My husband's prescription had to be done again because the glasses prescribed were good for one eye and not the other. He came back again to have another evaluation and new prescription a week later. The lens was corrected. But now 3 months or so later the frame broke. They told us to bring them in. Let's see what happens. read more
