This was a very pleasant rental car experience. Price was great, customer servcie was pleasant when picking up the car, the car process of getting to it was easy, and the car was clean, and worked out great! On the return trip, they were a Godsend, because we actually left the remote garage controller on the visor, and my husband had to call and find out if they could retrieve it. Easy reservation process with Bookings.com to select style & price I wanted. Pick up at the airport was super easy although it is a long walk to all the rental car agencies from the Greenville-Spartanburg terminal. Drop off after hours was simple. This is long but important: Thrifty car rental at the GSP airport. Our boss booked a rental car for us with Thrifty. When we arrived to pick it up, we used the company card, but it was declined. The agent then informed us that their policy prohibits rerunning a declined card for 24 hours. I explained that the likely issue was our bank flagging the transaction as fraud since we were out of town, and we just needed to call and resolve it. However, another employee, with an attitude, simply repeated, "It's our policy." I suspect the decline was actually a system error because, after eventually getting a car, the same card worked fine at a nearby gas station. Regardless, we asked if I could pay with my personal credit card instead. They refused, stating the card had to match the driver's name, but my partner didn't have another card to use. While I understand preventing fraud, I was standing right there, fully consenting to use my card. So, I suggested canceling the reservation and rebooking it under my name so I could pay. Before I could finish my sentence, the employee cut me off, stating they were "sold out." I questioned how our reserved car could suddenly be unavailable before even canceling our booking. The employee fumbled for an explanation while her colleague rudely chimed in, insisting there was nothing they could do and that we'd have to go elsewhere. At that moment, a manager walked by and asked what was wrong. After a quick explanation, I repeated my request to transfer the reservation to my name. Without hesitation, she said, "Of course," and within a minute, the problem was solved. Suddenly, the previously rude employee became polite, and I was able to pay and get the keys. Now, I sincerely hope this wasn't the case, but the interaction felt racially charged. My partner is Black, and I am white. The two unhelpful employees were white, while the manager who stepped in to resolve the issue was Black. Whether intentional or not, the level of disrespect and refusal to assist us--despite an obvious solution--was unacceptable. read more

STRANDED AT AIRPORT BY THRIFTY GSP AIRPORT So, I reserved an SUV vehicle through the Delta app with Thrifty beginning Easter Day April 4th 2021 at GSP (Greenville Spartanburg Airport, South Carolina). Once I landed at GSP Airport, I called the Thrifty Customer Service Number and got no answer. I tried multiple times, and got no answer. The Information Booth lady at GSP (as well as a person at Hertz Rental car) also tried to call Thrifty. No answer. Because all the other car rental agencies were already booked up for the Easter/Spring Break holiday (and no cabs or Uber rides were initially available) I was essentially stranded at the Greenville Spartanburg Airport due to Thrifty's non responsiveness. Bottom line: do NOT book a vehicle with Thrifty GSP Airport if you actually need a vehicle to go anyplace. Unless someone from Thrifty Corporate reaches out to me and provides a satisfactory explanation and response, I will never again book a rental car from Thrifty in my lifetime. read more

DO NOT RENT HERE - Especially if you are going to someone's home that might have a pet. Apparently, some dog hair was on our suitcases when we left our son's house and ended up in the carpet - along with some hair that was on our shoe bottoms i assume. I was totally shocked to see a $250 cleaning fee charge. Their policy says "Excessive pet hair, soiling or damage caused by animals will result in an extra cleaning charge....ranging from $50-$250." Im very sure they've never charged less than $250 and they absolutely will not discuss it once the charge hits. I had to wait 20 minutes on the bus and my van showed up 15 minutes later - and it was still wet from I assume an automatic cleaner because the back and most of the sides were still dirty. Return date I made was Nov 10th 2022 2:30pm Their invoice clearly says i made return 2:27pm and they charged 57.44 and total is $233 for just one day rental white total amount from Expedia was $176.22. Called thrifty and they said this location was privately owned. However received my call at this Greenville location started with "There is nothing I can do" from the beginning. This place is such an asshole. I am filing claim whole $233 via my credit card company. read more

I would never rent from this company again. First, the rental is not on-site at GSP. You have to take a shuttle to and from so give yourself another 30 minutes. Secondly, the car was filthy and it stunk. It's like they sprayed french perfume in it to mask the smell. The center console had some type of ice cream melted into it and paper stuck to it. There was no water in the windshield wiper dispenser. The steering wheel was sticky. The car was dirty. The customer service person was rude. Seriously, there are so many other companies to rent from don't take your business to this one. read more

If you need to rent a cat at GSP-don't use Thrify/Dollar. First of all they are off airport property, you wait for a shuttle. The other rental companies are right at the terminal and you are out of there in 10 minutes. It took me an hour today. 20 for the shuttle then 40 at the rental counter. They were getting use to a new computer system and all employees were visible frustrated! I hope other days they run efficiently but I will spend a few more $$ and rent from someone else. Do NOT use this business if you have a dog! I rented a brand new SUV, had a 45 pound pitbull mix only in the CARGO AREA, ON A BLANKET. After I returned the car, I was shocked to see an extra $250 charge from them. When I called, they said that they had to have the car detailed because they couldn't get the dog hair out after 10 minutes of vacuuming. First of all, I could have gotten the hair out in ten minutes with a dust buster. Second-why did it need to be detailed? A simple trip to the car wash down the street would have gotten it washed, vacuumed and the windows done for $25! I have called and asked to speak to the manager and been told he was busy and would call me back, but he never has. I would have been happy to settle for paying the cost of having the car washed and vacuumed but $250 is simply outrageous. read more

I'd give this place negative stars if I could. Left a wallet in the car. They didn't contact me to tell me. I was calling about something else and they happened to mention it. They said they mailed it. Called back 8 days later, they hadn't mailed it yet. While the wallet was in their possession, two charges were made during those dates on the credit card inside the wallet. I'm currently having a PI track the charges so I can sue them. Ridiculous. Bad customer service and an awful experience. Never again!!!! read more

The service here is so freaking slow. Plan on being here an hour or more for pick up and drop off. Very disorganized, understaffed, and front desk people disappear for 20 mins or more to "check somethin' real quick". Half the time they don't know if the cars have any damage or fuel, you need to go and check and let them know of anything is wrong. The cars will also be given to you dirty. To top it off the front desk people will complain about how busy it is and how "everyone waits to the last minute to book a car" read more

I would never use nor recommend this car rental location/store! They over charged my card and I took a whole work day trying to get it resolved then the manager "PATRICIA' left for the day dint return my call at all. It took me speaking to the manager at the call center LaDonna to get anything resolved then Jason from Charleston SC called to resolve my issue although I rented a car from Thrifty store in Greer. Patricia needs management training! My reservation price on line was 74.00 they charged my card for $217.00, I am thankful it was refunded but the manager never did return my call to see if things had been taking care of. read more

Thankfully there are choices. When asked where we were driving to was when the add on fees started coming up. Our daily rate increased by 40% and they were not willing to work with us at all. HIGHLY DISSATISFIED WITH JOHN at thrifty in Greer. I always rent from them and never had one issue. Always treated with respect. I returned my vehicle 2/13/2022 around 3. When I entered in to return my keys, John came at me, telling me to hand him the keys now!.... I was confused as to why he was demanding the keys in such a rude manor. He said I parked where the shuttle bus goes. Where I parked was no sign stating "Shuttle bus goes here". There was one beside me. I asked him very nicely would he like for me to go move it and he stated "NO!, I'll just do it myself!. He walks out shaking his head and mumbling under his breath. He then get in the truck and slams the door to check the odometer and gas, but still didn't move the truck. I've never been treated like this EVER since I been renting from them. After leaving I called back to let him know that I didn't appreciate the way I was treated and I asked for the Managers number and he stated that he was a supervisor. I said to him " there is no way you can be a supervisor treating a customer in such a manner". So I asked for corporate number and the number he gave me was to the insurance company. I highly recommend that either he goes back through training on how to treat customers or anger management classes!. As long as JOHN is working there I DO NOT RECOMMENDED ANYONE TO GO TO THIS LOCATION. He treated me as if I was a nobody. read more

The prices online and the prices they quote are very different. I was given one price by phone and received a confirmation on that price. I called the day before flying in, and they tell me that the information I received online is incorrect. They then tell me they are giving me the "Manager's Special" for the same price. But, it was NOT the same price. It was around $8 per day more. When I protest, they tell me they have few cars available, and I am stuck with what they give me at the elevated price. When returning the car I "topped it off" at the Q Gas Station across the street, literally. 2 minutes later, I am in their Thrify / Dollar parking lot. A Service Agent (actually the one that checked me in initially) comes outside with me to check the car. No dings, no problem. I also make it a point to tell her that I "topped it off" just across the street, minutes ago. I show her the gas receipt, literally. She says, "No problem. That's all I needed to see." And, the gas gauge shows it at full. I go in and finish checking out. No problem. I come back home, and three days later a "Refueling Charge" is added to my Credit Card! I am furious. I call the number to the Greer, SC Office, but immediately rerouted to a Call-Center Agent. She tells me she needs to see the receipt and PROOF of refueling. I have to go through the extra time to PROVE (once again) that I "topped it off". I have to send the receipt and Credit Card Statement to them. Such a time waster and stress. These companies today are scamming any way they can. They just hit you with extra charges, hoping you won't see, pay attention or care. Well, I do care. Corporatism / Capitalism at its finest. Greed underlying everything. It's not enough they price gauge you with low-balling online prices. They then have to exploit your Credit Card and Banking just the same. Find another place to rent a car from. These Companies pay their employees to smile and lie to you through their teeth, while finding new and inventive ways to screw you over monetarily. CHECK THE CAR FOR DAMAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This location charged me for a damage to one of their vehicles that i did not cause. They told me "we have already inspected the vehicle, just sign here"..... big mistake. When i returned the car they charged me $500 + for repairs for the damage that was already there when i picked it up. Worse yet they send all of their claims through some scam artists company in Texas called Subrogation Management Team. Choose any company but this one, you'll be happier you did. read more

The people here are so nice, and the process in renting was easy & painless. They have a complementary shuttle from the airport to their office, just a couple minutes away. The gentleman who picked us up was very nice, and even made some recommendations about where to go, and what to see. Upon pulling in to the location, my fiancé made a comment about the nice, new F-150 in the lot. The driver actually asked if we would like to upgrade. We didn't want to spend the extra money, so we declined. But he said he'd ask them to do it complementary for us. 15 minutes later, we were leaving in a new F-150 that the gentleman had prepped just for us. I was blown away. I don't know who that gentleman was, but I really appreciate what he did. This is our first time here, potentially looking for a new place to call home, and my fiancé already feels at home in this truck, since he has an F-150. What an incredibly nice welcome. I had a reservation at the Thrifty car rental at Greenville Spartanburg Airport with a conformation # for a certain dollar amount that was made months ago for a 1 month car rental. I arrived at around 7 pm to Thrifty car rental after 15 hours of flying time and layovers from California to visit my family who live all over the Carolinas. I give the customer service agent my conformation # and he informs me that he cannot give me the car for the price I have confirmed. The price is highly inflated on his end. I refuse to pay this inflated price and ask to speak to a Manager. There is no Manager on duty. I refuse to pay the inflated price and the service agent and myself have words after he tells me that the confirmation # I have is a thrifty car rental company but actually not a thrifty car rental company and that it's complicated. I tell him to get a hold of a Manager because I am not signing a contract at this inflated price, and get stuck paying said price because a contract was signed. He tries calling a Manager, leaves a message and never gets a return phone call. I am very tired, hungry and trying to stay calm so that I can care for my Husband who has had a stroke and is hard of hearing and has no idea what is going on with this situation. I finally tell the service agent that I will take the car and deal with the corporate office latter. And maybe they know who's company really is or something along those lines. The service agent then decides he does not want to give me the car and tells me to come back tomorrow. I get furious!! I am in the middle of nowhere and an hour away from my closest family member. I call the Sheriff and the service agent tells me he can do that too! And so he does. The Greenville Sheriff comes out and tries to rectify the situation. As I am waiting outside and my Husband is inside oblivious to what is actually going on. The Greenville Sheriff comes out and tells me that this Service Agent doesn't want my business because I refused to pay the inflated price. I had a printed out conformation, That I also called to confirm by phone again two days prior to our Travel. So now it is at least two hours later. Lots of nosy people inside making comments and starring at me not knowing what the situation is. Im humiliated and so embarrassed that this could happen with what I thought was a reputable company. (Not). Thrifty only agrees to drop us off back at the airport. We then proceed to other car rental agencies at the airport. Nobody has a car!! Not one car at the airport not one!! We checked them all. We then tried to get a taxi. No taxi at the airport can you believe it!! I'm from San Francisco, California. This is not possible!! A very nice ticket agent calls a taxicab for us and the taxi company tells us it will take over an hour to get to us at the airport. My Uncle lives an hour away so he told us to cancel the cab, he was on his way. By this time I had been trying to get to my Mothers house 18 hours. Needless to say I am not happy with Thrifty car rental. This was the first time I made a reservation with them. I usually use Enterprise car rental. This time Enterprise did not have the car I wanted so I went with Thrifty instead. What a mistake!! I have gone elsewhere now to get a car for the month I will be here. I will not let this terrible experience ruin my time with my Mother or other family members. Family is everything. No I do not recommend Thrifty Car Rental!! They are the company that's not really a company, and oh! Its complicated!! Update to the situation. I had decided not to deal with this situation until I returned to California, but my sister in law has managed retail stores for over 20 years and was furious at the situation when she heard from us the next day. She called the so called Thrifty Car Rental corporate offices on our behalf. She has not received a return phone call, and the person she was told to ask for does not even exist! I know this because my sister in law called headquarters back after not receiving a return call. They told her no such person worked there. My Sister-In-Law has been planning a visit to the Upstate from San Francisco, CA for months now. She knew that she and her husband would need a car while they were here so they had rented one in advance with Thrifty. She printed the confirmation out and had it in hand when she got to the airport but they tried to charge her more for the car and then wouldn't let her have it! She was stuck at GSP! The next day I called the GSP (Greer) location on behalf of my Sister-In-Law, because I knew that she needed some time to relax and try to find a rental car, I thought maybe I could cut through some of the red tape and get in contact with the Manager. I talked to someone named Sally & told her that I was calling for my Sister-In-Law and that I didn't want to go over the particulars of why I was calling since it was on behalf of another person I just wanted to leave her name and number directly with the Manager. I was told by Sally that the Manager's name there is Patricia but she was at lunch. Sally said she would send an email to Patricia and she should call me back as soon as she was back from lunch. Three hours later I had not heard from Patricia so I called back and Sally told me (SURPRISE,SURPRISE) that Patricia was now on a conference call. That's when I told her that I had managed retail stores for over 20 years and I knew what was going on here...I was being given the run around, no doubt in my mind, I knew it, she knew it and Patricia knew it! That my Sister-In-Law wasn't from here but I was and I knew the proper channels to go through to deal with businesses that act this way! This phone call wasn't about your car another one has already been rented, it's not about money (they could afford to pay the extra money) no it's all about the actions of the employees the employees here are horrible! I even called another location to ask about this location and they said that they've never heard of Patricia as far as they know the Manager there is a man named Andrew! I don't know who if they are lying or incompetent or just hoping I would go away. I will go away but I don't think my Sister-In-Law will! I would NEVER use this company they CANNOT be trusted with pricing and treat you like you are ignorant! read more
