Like most people who find the UU I have never really fit in anywhere spiritually. I didn't want my…read morechildren to miss out on learning about religion, but didn't want them indoctrinated into any one faith either. Attending the MVUUC is a positive tradition I feel good to let my kids participate in. Everyone is super nice, and each Sunday a completely different topic is discussed in creative ways. The kids begin the service with us but are then led to the children's religious education program, where they learn from a variety of sources about fostering their innate goodness. After service is coffee hour, everyone just hangs out on the nice patio and fellowships. Everyone's views are welcomed and no one is considered wrong. My family is in the process of joining officially and I plan on attending as long as I can. They mostly draw from Christian principles but, they also have a pagan group, a gay & lesbian group, men's group, women's group, knitting circle, book club, volunteer opportunities, community outreach programs, and annual retreats. Something for everyone!

I wasn't sure what I wanted out of a religion but I'm sure glad I found it. The church is very peaceful and supportive of the community without being aggressive in trying to change the people. They support many local charities by donating their collection basket once a month to a social justice charity. When you first go in, a greeter asks if you've ever been there before and how you found the place. They invite you to sign the guest book so that they can introduce you later. You sing a few hymns(and sometimes hippie folk songs), almost always about the human spirit, community, service and self sacrifice and the reverend delivers a sermon. Some times the lay leaders lead the service. The community is so warm and inviting. They support LGBTQQIA rights. The people are mostly older but are always excited to see a young adult in attendence. The Religious Education is top notch. They provide several different courses for youth of various ages. My niece (age 6) and nephew (age 9) talk about the classes all week long and constantly ask if they can go with me again.

A must visit BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Temple located in Chino Hills, CA…read more The Hindu temple is free admission and is open to visitors of all faiths. There's a dress code requirement no shorts or tank tops are allowed inside but don't worry the temple has Sarongs available to cover your arms and legs. All of the beautiful handcrafted wood was imported from India. There's a restaurant inside called "Baps Shayona," that provides traditional Indian sweets and snacks with outdoor seating. The volunteers were very friendly. Check it out when in the area! Happy Yelping :)

There's not too many Hindu temples in the state. I see Islamic mosques in the U.S. more than I can find a good East Asia Indian Hindu temple. Not huge, but there's plenty of great photo spots all around the temple. Employees are all friendly, welcoming, and set a great first hand impression of the experiences. Exterior and interior of buildings are worth walking around. When you enter the main gate for free parking, assistant gives you a small map of the site in advance. Note, Visitors can take photos inside the visitor center area, but no cameras, photography, or shoes are allowed in the main temple attraction site. No large backpacks, but I was able to bring my small hat/cap with me. I didn't wear it inside the temple though. Take off shoes and store them in the shelves available right before walking up the long stairs. Cover up/check dress code restrictions in advance. Good vibes all around. Inside the main temple were people praying/meditating. Very cold temperatures and echoing noise can easily be heard inside. White detailed sculptures are amazing. Indian culture is religious. Respect Hindu vibes. It's a great feeling walking around and you can check out other parts of the temple/museum. Great place for selfies and beautiful pictures for sure. Love it.
