It could use a bit more char. Szechuan Fish Fillet in Peppercorn Chilli Soup (4/5) which had tender and perfectly poached fish fillets. We wish it was spicier but otherwise this dish was tasty and full of fragrant spices. Egg & Chive Pancakes (4/5) was packed with filling and the pancake had a really crispy texture on the outside but soft on the inside. It had glass noodles inside as well. It has a faint aromatic flavour that wasn't too overpowering. We poured some of the Szechuan peppercorn chilli soup inside too which tied in all the flavours together.

The Dim Sum items we ordered (3) were excellent, but the Spicy Beef dish was very mediocre. The beef was tough and dried out... With way too much cilantro... Honestly not very good, nor was the portion very large for the $23 price. I also ordered a steamed rice which was hard and frankly tasted like a packet of Uncle Ben's Minute Rice. Service was quite slow considering the place only had 3 tables including ours. Overall I would not come back... Price was very high, at $66 before tip, for what we got and really not very good. Won't go back.

It comes with 1 hot clay pot rice, 1 soup noodle, and a decent sized snack. A few choices for each of these items. Check the menu out. Honestly can't ask for more and this is why it gets jam packed easily at lunch time. Good news is that people are usually eat-and-go without sticking around for long. So even with the crowd, you might be able to get a seat in 10~15 min during the busiest time. Alternatively, quite a bit of people simply call-in for takeout's and Uber. Awesome price-value, decent comfort food with great taste, jam-packed at lunch time. Not a bad choice.

Came by on a nice quiet week night for a bowl of comfy noodles. We had the stir fried pork on their…read moreregular hand pulled noodles to start. It was really oily, though the noodles were really nice and chewy. I found the pool of oil quite difficult to get past though. Next we got the classic beef noodles. We went for the flat, soft noodles which were great. As they state though, it gets really soft and mushy after a bit, so I recommend maybe sticking with the regular chewy noodles. The beef was soft and the radish was sweet. The soup base was comforting in a way but also very heavily salty. I couldn't tell if there was just a lot of MSG in there, but I couldn't sip on the soup much. We also ordered the shan xin bao, which is a fried soup dumpling of sorts. The breading was really thick and the soup was quite sweet. Not really the taste we were use to. We also got the pig ear and cucumbers cold dish. This was absolutely swimming in oil as well. They chop up black bean in there for flavour and it just added a really bitter taste. We didn't end up touching most of this, opting to bring it home, rinse it, and re-season it ourselves instead so the food wouldn't be wasted. All in all, the service is nice. I think the baked rice could be worth a try, but there's a lot of great noodle options in the area I personally prefer. As always, give it a try! They have a lot of great reviews on Yelp, so it potentially just doesn't suit my preferences.

My visit to Noodle Max would be one of these unexplained phenomenon. I was really hoping to try this hyped up beef noodle place in Richmond Hill, only to have my hope squashed by a long line up at 4:20pm in the afternoon. 4:20!!! WTH!!! On a snowy, slushy late afternoon, I blindly (and slowly) drove my way aimlessly to Aurora. I remember some Asian restaurant getting rave reviews up in Aurora and that being Noodle Max (maybe it wasn't so aimless). If you are someone who believes in destiny, I can tell you destiny will occasionally give you sxxxxy things. Noodle Max would be one of them. Noodle Max's main offerings are Lan Zhou style noodles and was it ever an unauthentic and underwhelming experience. I wouldn't go as far to say the soup was tasteless like water, but it's pretty bland. While the soup for Lan Zhou noodles are not generally crazy strong in flavour, it should still have the taste of spices. The beef slices were also pretty tame in flavour. They were ok. The main plus about their noodle was the portion; quite big. The noodle had better texture than most store bought noodles, but it did not have the proper floury taste and the limited flavours from the soup was not able to hang onto the noodles. Aurora used to be a black hole in terms of dining options, but not anymore. How Noodle Max continued to garner such a high Yelp and Google rating befuddles me.
