***Update*** It turns out that not only did she try to open a HELOC under my name, she opened a Synchrony CC account the day she was supposed to check my credit with a soft pull. There never was an "$80K approval!" She lied and had the audacity to not only open a credit line of $5500 without my authorization, but she charged the whole amount and put her business name on the credit card account as if to have joint ownership on the account! Who does that? Complete fraud!! I see why now she didn't respond with my request to cancel 2 days later! She already opened an account and paid herself $5500! I had no knowledge until I got a letter from Synchrony saying "our request for credit increase was denied!" What?? What increase?? She even requested an increase without my knowing the account was even opened! The audacity! I have since reported account as fraud, had to call all credit bureaus, and filled claim with BBB. I will also be going to file police report once I obtain statement of charges to credit card! Now, she is sending cheap threats to put a lien on my home for work she never provided! She is a lying scam artist! Do not trust this company or Lee the Contractor! She claims she had her "engineers and architect work so hard and plans were already submitted by Monday" after canceling the Friday before. Again a lie as I went to the LADBS and no plans were there or ever submitted! Still till this day she has not returned my original plans and ignores my text as a homeowner, only responding and threatening my young 26 year old fiancé. I will be filing criminal and civil charges! I have all evidence of her lies on my phone. She is an evil scam artist! PLEASE DO NOT TRUST! read more

Daniel from Top Remodeling called me this morning and said his company was doing work in my neighborhood and he wanted to know if I would like a free written estimate for home repairs. I told him I don't usually talk to telemarketers. He assured me that he was not a telemarketer. I told him I only have a small job right now of repairing and painting my kitchen ceiling and walls. I asked if that was too small of a job, and he said no. So I agreed to let Lee come to give me an estimate.to repair and paint my kitchen. Unfortunately from the minute she came into my kitchen she tried to talk me into getting new cabinets. I told her no several times but she still tried to convince me. Then when she finally realized she couldn't talk me into getting new cabinets she told me the price for just repairing the water damage and painting. What she quoted seemed a little high but I told her I would submit it to my insurance company and if they approved I would use her company to do the work. She was not willing to do it that way. She wanted me to sign a contract on the spot and give her $1,000.deposit today! This was a red flag for me. If she is a legitimate contractor why was she so anxious to get a deposit before I had a chance to check out references? There are a lot of scammers these days. Bottom line is this. She refused to give the written estimate Daniel promised, and she was angry that I wanted to check her standing with the Contractors License Board. I was feeling very stressed by her pushy attitude. So in order to get her to leave I finally spoke bluntly to her and told her I wouldn't feel comfortable working with her company. I met with Top Home Remodeling yesterday, looking for a contractor to help with a tile installation job for me and my 7 month pregnant wife. Long story short: beware a contractor that, after negotiating and signing a contract, threatens they need even more money. The estimator was very friendly and great to work with. During the roughly 90 minutes time, I outlined the scope (as well as potential additional scope beyond the tile), and he spent the time figuring out the price. As I was looking to start tomorrow, and he was looking for me to sign immediately, I patiently waited for him to estimate a price, determine if a crew could get here, and then draw up the contract. I signed the contract, paid my deposit, and thought we were ready to go. Later that evening, around 10pm, I get texts from the estimator saying that, after 90 minutes at the site, he screwed up in his estimation, and in order to do the job, needs at least another thousand dollars. Even though the description of the scope of work covered the work. Their estimator came back the next day, trying to get me to accept a higher price. I expressed my anger and my partner suggested we move forward at a slightly higher price. As the estimator started to write a change order (he struggled with what the actual change was, surprise surprise), he decided to check with their owner I guess before proceeding. Ultimately, the owner decided to come over that afternoon. While here, the owner started to point out all the "problems" with the current job that was resulting from the higher estimate, which I know to be false. In the end, I accepted backing out of her contract, because if a contractor is trying to extract more money even before starting a job and play me for a schmuck, just imagine what they'll do when you get going. read more

Very disappointing, and potentially criminal. Here is what occurred: Lee arrived to bid a large basement project and as reported previously, she arrived with a tremendous amount of passion. Another way of saying this is she told me how everything I have experienced in the past is wrong and she and her company are the only ones that tell the truth. Since I was up against a rock and a hard spot regarding a confirming bid I reluctantly tried her services for a bid. Lee presented the project as extremely difficult and would have to talk to many experts in a short amount of time to meet the date request. I covered her time with the expressed expectation of detailed bids for both the 1500Sq 2nd-floor addition and the basement she was initially called to bid. She missed the deadline by a week and when she arrived with two bids, they were (and I kid you not) direct copies of one another, with a 100K difference in final price...... everything was the same, even the typos (which, btw, were for a different project of hers). Additionally, these bids weren't detailed with anything but transferred bullet point data from the plans.... not a single isolated bid or section broke out.... just a final cost of 1.3Mil and 1.2Mil. When asked to be more specific, the 2nd floor vs the basement she struggled and defended that the bid wasn't done that way. I called Lee out for duplicated bids with different titles and asked why she hadn't detailed her bid as discussed but again she defended her position, swiftly took back one of the duplicate bids (as she was caught) and said she had all the individual numbers in her computer and would get me the detailed bid right away. It has been 3 weeks without the detailed bid, I suspect I can consider the job abandoned by now.... I'll contact http://www.bbb.org and see what's next...... My husband and I recently purchased our first home and couldn't be more excited. The house was built in the 1960's so you can imagine how dated it was. This was the worst contractor experience of my life. The initial estimate was for approximately $5K. Two weeks later, we were asked to pay $3K more. The contractor told me they would install the blinds the 6th, 7th, and 8th of April. They did not show up and did not call. When they finally did come install the blinds, they asked for an additional $2K. I did not like being treated this way. Lesson learned. I won't be back. read more

I do NOT recommend this contractor company at all. Please look elsewhere for business. Lee CANNOT be trusted. She has horrible customer service and the entire experience was stressful. It was a constant battle to work with her and even the team she employed to complete the remodel quit working for her due to the way she treats people. #1) Lee and her company posed as an all-female contractor company at the Pasadena Home Show but when the team arrived to do the bathroom remodel, the team was all men. It was too late to back out of our signed contract by then. #2) Lee asks for payments before the job is completed. Not only is this illegal, but she continually harassed my family coming to the house unannounced at odd times, asking for payments, and wouldn't leave until she got her check! #3) Lee tried to scam my 66 year old aunt into charging more for the same job saying the bathroom was "double in size" after the demolition was completed which it was most certainly not! Bathrooms don't magically double in size when removing the tiles from the walls. It wasn't only until I showed her the original contract written in her OWN handwriting that the written dimensions matched. There was no size variance so there was no way I was going to have her charge my poor aunt more money for nothing. Until now, Lee has not sent over our warranty information papers and at this point, my family and I do NOT want anything to do with her and her crooked contractor company. read more

They did demolition of two walls to open up the space between my kitchen and my dining room. and installed a wood floor that looks amazing. My kitchen looks beautiful! I love it! The bathroom took a little bit longer than I expected to complete the work, there were a few delays but Simon was very much on top of every step of this project and fix this delay. From the beginning Lee help us planning and designing our kitchen and was available to us to go with us to the showroom to pick countertop and flooring. Be warned!! We hired Top Home Remodeling (Lee Reichman) to install windows on a duplex we just purchased, to remodel and rent out. Not only were the windows installed incorrectly (not sealed properly), as soon as it rained they leaked and caused water damage to the interior of the house. It took 3 weeks to get her to send someone to repair the exterior of the windows from leaking (raining more and causing more damage). Additionally, she was "too busy" to schedule someone to come repair the interior water damage that her windows caused, so we had to hire someone else ourselves. She begrudgingly offered us $100 for our troubles after weeks of us trying to fix the situation. I honestly have no idea why they have so many positive reviews. We have used many contractors and this was by far the most negative experience we've ever had. Please do yourself a favor and don't go with them. It was awful. read more

I have never experienced a kitchen renovation project prior to Top Home Remodeling, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out that they did an exceptional job. What I liked the most was, any work completed was brought to my attention. I was updated frequently. I never noticed a declination in productivity or workmanship. They matched the theme in my kitchen to the sample I showed them. Everything in this kitchen looks the part. The countertops, cabinets, tiling, appliances, and atmosphere. It was everything my husband and I wanted in our dream kitchen. These guys brought life to it. My husband and the kids already loved being in the kitchen before, mostly because of the snacks and food they love to eat. We have used Top Home Remodeling for at least three major projects over the past few Months (and a few small projects, too). The fact that we keep coming back should tell you a lot. Lee is very honest, responds quickly to any phone call, and Her work comes in on time and within the budget. In the past she has done our roof, remodeled our Master Bath, rebuilt our garage door, and resurfaced a small front balcony. Top Home Remodeling just completed their most extensive job for us. Our two-level 1,500 square foot deck was riddled with dry-rot and termite damage. We decided to replace 90% of the support beams, posts, and struts. They also added new concrete footings and improved the support system under our large, two-level deck, and did a fantastic job. We interviewed a few different companies and settled on them. They promised us a two week renovation but it took 3 1/2 months (master bath new floors-counter-shower and tub and two other bathrooms-floors and counters). We told them our desires at the interviews and they were there during the tile selection at the store. It ended up being one excuse after another for the delays and one excuse after another on why we had to pay for extra tile (ugh--you measured wrong and didn't listen to what we wanted-not my fault). While the end result is beautiful and the workers were great-the guy that we contracted with wasn't hands on and only came to pick up the checks. He didn't coordinate things well with the workers and us and left us hanging for days at a time. We never knew when workers would've there. So just be careful and don't listen to promises. If I could give a minus rating I would and if you value your sanity and more importantly your checkbook, DO NOT do business with Top Home Remodeling (Lee Reichman-Khaimov) in Woodland Hills. After a very, very long and high-pressure sales pitch that went onf or hours, I signed a contract and what a mistake that turned out to be! My projects with THR was to remove old flooring and replace it all with waterproof vinyl planking throughout the house (minus the 2 bathrooms), and to gut/remodel the 38-year old kitchen with removing the old cabinets, backsplash tile, tile floor, and raising the drop ceiling, then installing new cabinets, backsplash tile, new quartz countertops, lighting, painting walls and installing the new and/or reutilized appliances. I could write a novel about it all but here's the highlights: 1) being lied to; was very rude and unprofessional; wouldn't provide a detailed phase/line item cost estimate, only a full "project" cost estimate with a progress payment schedule; never gave the promised $250 Home Depot gift card as my sign up gift; never provided close out documents after final payment was made; always vague with work process; wouldn't provide advance trades schedule information; became difficult to work with once I started questioning things; was always "too busy and unavailable" to discuss project issues; wouldn't order chosen backsplash tile citing "cost" of it; less than stellar/professional work done by her 2-man crew; difficulty with clearing up some issues with the cabinet and electrical subs;; only showed up for the progress payments which she always started those visits with "I can't talk with you about the project, just give me the check, I have to go to another client". How rude and unprofessional can one get??? 2) Was presented with change orders that were grossly overpriced. One was for recessing a 30" length of sink drain PVC pipe into the wall so it wouldn't interfere with the backs of two new cabinets. First verbally told me it would cost $1400, which I didn't agree to (so I did some research on my own). Two days later she presented the written change order document for the work now priced out at $2400! I refused to sign it and shared my research-- the material cost: $25; labor: approximately 2 hours per 4 different construction tradespeople I interviewed at the house so they could see the project requirement. Had my longtime plumber do the work - cost was a mere $300! What an attempted rip off! 2) the other was where she pressured me the afternoon before the electricians were to show up that I had to sign a change order to upgrade my electrical panel, telling me I wouldn't pass the City inspection without it. After some more back and forth discussions, I reluctantly signed it for her cost quote of $5850 since I had nothing but an empty hole in my house that once used to be my kitchen and I could see her leaving me high and dry for who knows how long citing schedule slippage if I refused to sign. Afterwards, when I asked both City and SCE inspectors about it during their inspections, they both refuted that a panel upgrade was needed; both inspectors (also electricians) also told me that at most it would have only cost between $2500-$3,000 which would have included the stucco wall repair! She definitely planned the timing of that "needed upgrade" chat so that I didn't have the chance again to ask around for different quotes like I did for the drainpipe. I have done a lot of work on my house over many years and have dealt with various contractors and tradespeople on all of those projects -- all successfully, all professionally handled. I have never, ever dealt with a contractor who was so difficult, unprofessional, greedy and dishonest in their business dealings with a customer. THR may have a pretty, glossy project brochure to share with potential customers, showing various pictures of what they supposedly can do, but beware of Lee's tactics. After my experience and what I see posted from other disgruntled, dissatisfied customers from contracting with her and for the same or similar reasons, I don't know how she/THR gets any decent reviews! There's definitely a pattern. She could care less about it all as long as she makes a huge profit at the customer's expense and I'm sure I'm not the only one she has "taken to the cleaners". What was to be an eagerly awaited home improvement upgrade event became nothing but a nightmare full of stress and a drained bank account.
