There are so many reasons this place receives 5 stars from me. The rural setting is idyllic and will give the traveler a true taste of English county life, not some canned version. The generous rooms are carved from an old brick horse stable and the owners have thought of every detail to make your stay comfortable. 8 of us traveled together through Wiltshire and comfortably split 2 units they called cottages but are more like a 2 bedroom suite. A huge bonus for some will be that one of the rooms is handicap accessible, a rare find in this area. Another bonus is the central location in Wiltshire. We stayed here several nights and comfortably made day trips to Stonehenge, Avebury, Bath and even the coast although that was a long day. Etchilhampton is a tiny hamlet but minutes from Devizes, a medium size working town where you will find everything you will need to stock your cottage if you're inclined to cook. The extras supplied to gusts here are too numerous to name from the CD player, heated towel racks, laundry facility to the outdoor barbeque. The kitchens have everything required to cook and serve a fine meal. The owners are very friendly but you may go all day and not see them, except perhaps from afar as they work the horses. During 'crop circle season' this place books up so plan ahead by going to their helpful web site. read more
