There seem to be two tour companies that can take you to Preikestolen, I ended up using Tide Reiser. I managed to book in advance the day before on their website and printed my tickets, this was slightly better than rocking up on the day as it was busy but meant I constantly checked weather forecasts in the week before the trip.
For NOK300, you get a combined ferry ticket (Stavanger to Tau) then a Tide bus picks you up from the dock and drops you at the bottom of the hike, the return journey is included. As with everything in Norway the whole experience was very efficient. read more
