They are better than the doctors I have seen at Katiloopisto, too. Having to go there for an urgent matter, I was treated with such kindness, warmth, respect, professionalism, and care that I am incredibly happy we'll be having our baby there later this year. Starting with an urgent phone call to them, I was spoken to calmly and respectfully, I was met by medical staff who knew who I was and were expecting my arrival. I was treated professionally, kindly, and with warmth by outstanding midwives and student midwives who were friendly and put me at ease immediately. They gently but confidently got me all hooked up to the gadgets that I needed to be hooked up to, assured me that they'd be right there the whole time, and did not "forget" about me while I lay in a hospital bed awaiting test results. The doctor was very, very thorough: even though my tests came back ok, he ordered further testing just to be safe. The doctor I saw was perhaps one of the best doctors I've had the pleasure of being seen by ever. Anywhere. Exuding calm confidence and clearly skilled and sure of what he was doing, I never once doubted his expertise or assessment of my situation. With a great sense of humor (rare here) and a very supportive demeanor, I left knowing that I was ok, our baby was ok, and that I could call any time for anything at all and not feel like I'm putting anyone out. When coming from another country, quickly entering a foreign system of care can be intimidating, especially when very different cultural and social norms exist. Naistenklinikka was outstanding: very modern, clean, and still comfortable with what I would call some of the best and most caring medical staff I've encountered at each and every step of the process. Jukka was professional, accommodating and took great pride in his work. He understood the emergency of my situation and worked hard to get my smile back. My grandmother, who is almost 90 yrs old, is one of the most important people in my life. Approximately 3 years ago, she began to have the onset of dementia (along with other illnesses that come with old age) and, about 1 - 1 1/2 yrs ago, it was no longer safe for her to live by herself. My family started to look around for places for her to stay at and finally decided on Atzalea. This was for a couple reasons - 1) it was close to her home on Kielotie and 2) was one of the best priced ones out while still having quality care (although 4,000 euros a month is still a lot in my opinion). She has been living at Atzalea for over a year now. The caregivers here are amazing. I speak little Finnish (since I grew up in the U.S). and know VERY little about hearing aids and elderly care but that doesn't matter to them. They are very understanding and extremely helpful when I need help moving my grandmother or fix her hearing aid, etc. Some things I don't like : When it's raining or snowing, there's very little for my grandma to do since she doesn't read anymore and doesn't enjoy watching a lot of TV but there's nothing they can really do about that. And sometimes I wish there were more caregivers but, from what I hear, the caregiving sector is typically understaffed and underpaid so I can't complain. Anyway, I'm just happy she's there since I know there are some really wonderful people that work there and will be looking after her. Thank you so much!

Forever falls somewhere between the two and is a delightful and magical gem hidden away in the basement level of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. As a mom (I'm a mom! If you didn't already know that, you don't read every single review I write filled with colorful commentary on the joys of being a mother with a taste for red wine and expensive shoes), the fact that they have very affordable child care is a no-brainer win. The cherry on top is that the child care is like the best of the best. I have been to my share of Finnish kindergartens, some of the best in the world, and I am equally impressed with the assortment of activities here and the professional gals who care for your teeny tiny trainwreck are really good at their jobs. Aside from great general fitness areas and tons of clean, up-to-date machines and technology, this is a gym with real classes. The upside of Helsinki is that there are more licensed/certified fitness instructors per capita than any other major city. That includes yoga instructors and Pilates instructors (Hi! I am also certified for both and teach at other studios), so you're likely to get high-quality studio and group exercise experiences. At Forever I have found some of the best instructors I've come across in my 15 years of obsession with Yoga, Pilates, and group fitness. Hanna is a Pilates Powerhouse - she looks sweet and uses what I consider lies to get the class in shape - it looks innocuous enough but you'll feel a burn tomorrow and you'll keep jonesing for more. She's straightforward, easy to understand even if your Finnish ain't so great, and she's encouraging but serious. Like she's not (bleep)ing around. But in a pleasant FInnish way. Rita the Yogi is kind and patient and has a career in torture to fall back on if this yoga thing doesn't work out. She is so kind and emanates peace and tranquility...and before you know it you are crying in King Pigeon and she's speaking and you have no idea what she's saying because you are focusing really, really hard on not slipping in the divine pool of sweat that has collected around you on your mat. And she'll just keep smiling and you'll just keep crying knowing that your ass is being handed to you by the sweetest, most knowledgable person. Her classes are REALLY in Finnish - so now that you live in Finland, learn some Finnish and go to her class. You will thank her (and me) later. I highly recommend the Zumba classes, the Powercore class, Combat and Piloxing. Leena is not Fucking around. If you want to look like a Fitness model, go to every class she teaches. I do not go to every class she teaches but when I do, I will wear a bikini everyday even in the snow. So: my favorite teachers: Hanna, Rita, Leena, Susanna, and Laura. The personal trainers are all very nice too and they have some real lookers. The front desk staff are the nicest people ever. Really truly. There is a cafe featuring coffee and healthy snacks - really great if you arrive early and have some social media-ing to catch up on ;) The changing rooms, showers, saunas, and solarium are neat and well-appointed. Yes. There is a solarium. You can get your tan on! There's also a day spa and a hair salon and they have a fitness apparel and accessories/equipment shop too. This review is really long. If you read to here I think you should give yourself the treat of a day at Forever. I promise you will want to come back for more. Another plus: there is a hotel bar right upstairs where you can celebrate your victorious workout without even going home to change!
