The Chilaquiles ordered by the rest of the party seemed to enjoy their plates. I did not partake in the Chilaquiles since they use Manteca, beef lard with their beans. I did order the avocado toast. It was extremely basic but good. Avocado was fresh. I did have to ask for their spicy salsa which the server thought was weird. I then ordered the churros. They were forced to work in the mine under harsh conditions, with some estimates suggesting up to five people died daily from accidents, tuberculosis, or silicosis It was originally called "Mina San Eligio" but became know as "Mina del Eden" due to the massive amount of minerals found. The large quantities of silver and gold from El Edén flooded the European market, leading to the closure of numerous mines in Europe and the loss of many jobs. It was also a signficant source of wealth for Mexico Today, the mine is open for tourism and very inexpensive for a visit. The guides are very well educated about the history and it brings light to the horrific working conditions that the miners endured while working there. Even though the water below looks clear, it is polluted with mineral extracts and the chemicals. Highly unlikely you would survive from the fall, you wouldn't survive being in the water. Make sure to stop by and see Roche! He's waiting for you to say hello. The Mina El Eden is an amazing viist and highly recommended.
