Fantastic Spanish immersion child care center and preschool. My son has been going here in their infant room for 3 months now and loves it. The staff always greets him and us with a big smile. They are friendly and take great care of our son. He is always bringing home little projects that they use his hands and feet for. the staff provides excellent updates on his day and well being. They also just put on a wonderful picnic for the children and parents with lots of great games and activities for the kids, a jump house and awesome food. We were so happy to send our two boys to Tierra Encantada - Bryant for close to 2.5 years. Our older son started at this daycare when he was a toddler, and we sent our new baby starting around 4 months old. All of the staff and teachers are excellent, and both of my boys looked forward to going to Tierra every day. Art projects, singing/music time, yummy freshly prepared organic food, and Spanish immersion-- what's not to love about this daycare? The only downside is that we have been "spoiled" by Tierra-- when we moved out of state, none of the daycares in our new location can compare. read more

Very loving, caring staff. Educational instruction is solid and classrooms are clean and beautiful; set up for lots of free play as well as structured activities with a teacher. Definitely feel our preschooler is getting good preparation for Kindergarten. We just completed a nearly three week trip to Ecuador and our in-laws/family there couldn't say enough about how well our child speaks Spanish! The on-site kitchen is fabulous and it's lovely that the kids eat meals together - we love that our daughter is having this experience plus it takes some pressure off the parents to pack meals everyday! While the meals are fabulous we would love to see even more vegetables, especially in place of fruit and grains. The only other grievance we have is the lack of applying the same organic, healthy food mentality to the cleaning products used throughout the facility; hand soaps, surface sprays, floor cleaners, etc. I got dizzy one day while waiting nearby a bathroom stall after a staff member sprayed a room freshener to counter the smell from a child using the toilet. In addition to the use of toxic cleaners, the air quality could be improved with some Hepa filters of the sorts. The windows don't open. read more

We absolutely love Tierra Encantada! Our son is in the toddler program and has learned so much since he started as an infant. A few things for prospective parents to know: 1) The staff are incredible! I have trusted every teacher 100% and our son has formed strong bonds with all of them. They are caring and kind and so very patient. All of the kids at school seem happy everyday. 2) The program is top notch. Each day is structured with activities and keeps the kids on a predictable schedule. Our son is learning much more than I would ever be able to teach him. He is proficient in Spanish and English at 18 months old and is starting to the basics about potty training. He comes home with new skills almost daily. They are learning numbers, letters, animals, music, culture, and so much more. Truly exceptional! 3) They hold rigorous standards for cleanliness and disease prevention. Although our son has certainly come home with colds, he has not contracted anything serious so far and I believe that is because Tierra is committed to prevention. 4) Learning a second language is so good for cognitive development. I was a little bit concerned that we would not know day to day how our son was doing, but there are English speaking staff that help communicate with parents who have limited or no Spanish skills. Our son's verbal ability is growing rapidly and I think there is definitely a connection with his early exposure to a second language. Get on the waiting list early, there is a lot of demand for this exceptional daycare center! read more

Tierra Encantada is a wonderful community. The cultural and language education is amazing. My 3 year old knows all her letters, colors and shapes in Spanish and in English. We ADORE Tierra. This is our third daycare and we could not ask for more. I could go on and on but I'll try to group my thoughts together: 1) The staff. We had previously experience at other centers with high rates of turnover as well as staff that generally seemed to not CARE about our kids. The staff at Tierra has stayed consistent, with the exception of some promotion based turnover. I will also say that it's so clear they genuinely like working together and have a community amongst each other. Happy employees = happy work environment = happy kids! I get there early-ish (7:15 or so) and I get to witness people greeting each other as they get to work and chatting about their day/weekend/etc. and it just seems like a great place to work. Neither my husband nor I are native Spanish speakers and we have been able to manage through both day to day communication and parent teacher conferences without any issues. All the teachers know my children by name, even if they aren't teaching them, which I also love. It makes me feel 1000% confident leaving them every day. 2) The education. My 3 year old can easily count in both English and Spanish, and she converses all day in Spanish and then easily transitions to English at home, even helping her simple parents with pronunciation. I believe she will be more than prepared going into Kindergarten in a few years. 3) The service offerings. Oh where to start!? Cloth diapers included? Yes please! Wholesome food offerings!? You got it! (my child now loves mushrooms and is also never hungry for dinner on the day she gets garbanzo bean soup for lunch). Oh, you can intricately braid my daughter's hair? Bonus! I've brought home so much art we are now a little picky about what we keep :) Twice annual family festivals, online communities, theme days, Grandparents visit days, etc. I just can't say enough about the level of service, professionalism, and overall excellence we've experienced at Tierra. read more

I can't give Tierra enough praise! On paper, the center had exactly what we were looking for - Spanish immersion, organic food, cloth diapers, a strong curriculum - but in practice, all you ever really want for your kids is for them to be cared for and loved by their caretakers and that's where Tierra excels above the rest. My 2-year-old wakes up each morning excited to see Ms. Alma & Ms. Pamela and as a full-time working mom whose kid spends the majority of his waking hours at school, it absolutely melts my heart and I couldn't ask for a better place for my son to spend his time. Our daughter transitioned from a corporate (yet loving and clean) daycare to Tierra Encantada when she was 16mos old without having any Spanish language in her life and just 5 months later she comprehends and speaks Spanish as well as she does English. I have two children at Tierra Encantada - one in the infant room and one in the Intermediate Preschool, and my oldest has been with Tierra since early 2017. We've been very happy with our experiences there. Both of my children happily greet their teachers in the morning, and I always feel that they have been well cared for. My oldest potty trained because his teachers took the initiative to help him with it, which I really appreciated. We also love the nutritious breakfasts and lunches, and that our children are being exposed to a new language and other cultures. My oldest has also made great friends through the program. Whatever small concerns I've had during our time there have been promptly addressed and corrected by the staff. I have recommended this daycare to many friends, who also now send their children there. I certainly encourage those looking to tour here. My spouse and I feel very lucky to have Tierra and its wonderful staff in our and our children's lives. read more

I recently did a tour of this location and I wanted to drop a review because I feel the reviews I read beforehand were not as descriptive. I have 2 small children who attend daycare so I couldn't help but compare the two. After doing a tour, they have some good things going for them like the cloth diaper, the food, nice staff, and Spanish speaking. Also the owner reached out to me and said they provide benefits for all their staff which I like. Here are the things I noticed that I didn't like: First, it's LOUD. The walls are paper thin, it was extremely loud in there even when there were no kids in the halls. In the lobby and hallways we could barely hear the tour guide. I had anxiety in the 30 minutes we were there from all the noise. It's also TINY. They probably have 100+ kids packed in there.. There are 2 infant rooms, 2 toddler, and maybe 2-4 preschool but IMO the space is good for half that. The hallways are crammed with carseats and shoes. If someone is walking down the hallways opposite you, you almost have to turn sideways so they can get by. Made me nervous in the event of a fire or something. There is one small gym that all 100+ kids have to share. (I will note that not all daycare's I toured had play areas so I guess at least they had one).. The room seems appropriate for toddler aged kids but not preschoolers, they should have a much larger space to run around, ride a trike or something.. Especially in Minnesota where the winters are tough and you can't always play outside. We also inquired about the new location which is going to be in Windom, and a lot bigger. I'm familiar with the building they purchased. They said that location will have 4 infant rooms, 4 toddler, etc. So basically the building is bigger but they are going to have double the class rooms.. 8 infant/toddler rooms!! WHAT. Just managing the ppwk and allergies for that many kids would be challenging so I hope they have a big administrative staff. The owner assured me they have no turnover so teachers are coming from existing locations. They didn't mention the teachers had an educational background/training so I'm going to assume most don't? If they do, they should talk about that more. ** Edit, you can see owners comments below about education background** I forgot to ask. They also said most teachers don't speak English, so I guess if you need to talk to them you'll have to find a translator in the building.. Not a deal breaker but not what I expected. I plan to check out the new location when it opens, I want to see if it's any different. If the space is bigger and it seems more organized I would consider it. read more

We absolutely love Tierra Encanatada! Our daughter has been attending TE for almost a year - at both the Eagan location initially and the Bryant location after I changed jobs about 7 months ago - and we love both! I'll keep this review to the Bryant location, though. Our daughter has been in both the infant and toddler rooms at the Bryant location, and I want to touch on concerns raised by another reviewer who doesn't actually send her kids here. There is plenty of space for the kids at TE. There is one indoor gym and one outdoor gym, and each room of children take turns in each space. The day is very regimented, which is so great. My daughter's room will have circle time (where they sing about the alphabet, numbers, one another's names, colors, feelings, etc.), project time (there is always an art project to take home every day), play time, nap time, gym time (indoor or outdoor, weather dependent) twice a day, snack time, meal time, etc. I've been there to drop off or pick her up at any hour of the day and have never been concerned about noise, and nap time is super quiet. Our daughter comes home having learned new things every day. For example, one day she randomly counted to 15 in Spanish, and I had no idea she even knew numbers (at the time, she was only 18 months old), let alone up to 15. When we pick her up, she's so excited to see us but she wants us to stay at day care with her, and she cries when she has to leave. All of the teachers are licensed, and the center supports their continued education through additional certifications. Plus, they were just recently awarded 4 stars - the highest possible rating - on ParentAware, which relates directly to their pedagogy and curricula. There are two entrances/exits, both conveniently located, and the hallway is plenty wide enough in the event of an emergency. As for the teachers primarily knowing and speaking Spanish, that's true - I'm bilingual, so I can't speak to the difficulty in communication because it's not a problem for me, but my husband only speaks English, and he picks our daughter up every day. He never has a problem communicating with the teachers - ever. Plus, all email correspondence (and there is plenty - the directors are awesome communicators) is in fluent English. Finally, my daughter has an anaphylactic reaction to eggs, and they are insanely careful with what she eats, even though eggs are hidden in so many things. For example, when kids bring in birthday cake, they give my daughter a different, eggless treat so that she doesn't miss out! I love this day care because they often have cultural speakers/performers come to the facility, the food is great and healthy, their indoor and outdoor playgrounds are amazing for my super active toddler, and most importantly, I see the same amazing faces every day. There is NO turnover in staff, so my daughter gets constant love and attention from the same amazing staff every day. We feel insanely lucky to be able to take our most precious cargo to TE every day, because we know that she is loved and is learning an insane amount- her gross motor, fine motor, and language skills are all advanced for her age, and the cultural learning is so crucial to raising an empathetic child in an increasingly globalized world. We have had the privilege of using Tierra Encandada for the last 9 months as a source of care for our 13 month old. From day one, our little one has been at home under the loving and careful attention shown by his teachers at Tierra. The facility is clean, organized and the administration is quick to respond to any questions! Some of the highlights include, excellent quality of food, cloth diapers, engaging play and great teachers.
