Do not take your clothes here if you want them and you treated with respect. Have been taking my clothes to them for sometime for dry cleaning, where they have done an adequate but not exceptional job , but the last time a coat they cleaned came back with a rip in it that looks very much like a blade slash. This is an impeccable vintage piece that has sentimental meaning, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]when I took the coat back into show them the rip and ask them to compensate me for it or have it repaired, I was told by the owner that she was sure they didn't do it, and she dismissed me immediately out of hand.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Not a, "we will look into it", just an immediate dismissal, and the employee at the cash register was left to tell me that they would probably get back to me " within the week." Glad that the business is still open Monday to Saturdays. They offer a great dry clean discount and have a plexiglas on the counter for Covid 19 protection. They even sell cloth masks for customers too. The dry cleaning also sanitized my garments from all virus's and bacteria. They have great $1.00 price for clean, press and starch of Men's shirts. I wasn't sure who to take it to in order to have it fixed and was wondering if I'd have to start all over again. I wouldn't have thought that a dry cleaner could do alterations on home decor stuff, but someone on Reddit recommended Tie's. I took it there and they called me to follow up to make sure they understood exactly what I wanted to have done, which I appreciated. Just picked up the curtain and it looks fantastic. It didn't cost much to have it done and I consider it money well spent (unlike the initial money I spent to have the curtain done, but that is a whole other story). They steal!! Watch out!! I don't know why my review was deleted but I have a receipt and have been a customer here on more than one occasion. I had an emerald necklace stolen from the pocket of a trenchcoat that I had dry cleaned here! I realized I had left it in the pocket of my coat right away. I didn't want to call them, because I wanted to confront them in person so I could tell if they were lying or not. I waited until the coat was done being dry cleaned. I arrived at the shop, picked up and paid for it, and confronted the younger Asian cashier. He looked away and his neck and face blushed red with embarrassment. He was definitely lying! He never offered to even look for my emerald silver necklace!! He said, "oh if we find stuff it would be pinned and taped to the coat." He quickly pretended to look at a couple pockets for a safety-pinned lost item. Later when I got home and examined the coat, I saw a second safety-pinned item to the coat. Usually they just safety-pin a number to identify the piece of clothing. What a liar! Whoever did the cleaning, found the emerald stone and attached it to the coat. This low-life thieving liar took it. Who steals from their customers??? That was a piece of jewelry that was sentimental from my ex-fiancé who is no longer with us. Last week I was told my shirts would cost $1.25 because the shirts I was dropping off were partially buttoned. The fella assisting me walked away to do other things after he announced the change in price. (I've always paid $1.00 a shirt.) I appreciate that I pay a dollar a shirt, but it's the advertised price and the reason I can afford to have my shirts laundered. The employee could have stuck around for a conversation after announcing the change in price. Until this change, to their credit they seem to have lightened up a bit and seem less put out when doing their jobs. I do have to mention that the "taller fella" with brownish hair has always sported a smile, he just doesn't have a smile large enough to cover the attitude of the others. Few of us are seeking a friend in the laundry shop, but nor should it feel like we should apologize while handing you money. read more

Parking is a breeze either right in front or on a side street - but do try to avoid Saturday morning as there is a close by farmer's market that might impede your progress. Here is a tip, there is 20% off if you check in with the app. One time my husband went to use it, and they told him no - only one time! But you know what? It doesn't say that on the offer, so I go ahead and keep holding it up and they honor it. I haven't had to insist, but I will and we'll see what they say. My apologies for even trying there, wow. My point is, that I get my jackets and fancy things dry cleaned about 3-4 times per year. First of all, don't be fooled by the name. It's not 'one hour' dry cleaning. However, if you drop stuff off by 10am you get it the same day. I've been taking pants and shirts here for a couple of years, about once a month or so. I've never been totally satisfied with the results. Other dry cleaners leave my clothes smelling fresh and clean, Tie's does not. In fact, I once had to take pants back that were still dirty. I don't think they even dry cleaned them, I think think they just pressed them.That should have been a clue not to go back, but they're so close to where I live and I kept going. However this morning was the last straw. I went to drop off 3 pants and a shirt. One of the pairs of pants had some cat hair on it. (I've taken these there before, no big deal) Not a lot of cat hair I swear, just a few hairs here and there. The guy told me it would be $2 dollars extra because of the cat hair. I was like, are you kidding me there's not that much hair and I've never been charged extra. He said I could lint roller them and come back. I showed him, I said, look it comes right off and picked a piece off. He then yelled at me "Please stop shaking the hair!" Um, I'm sorry but this guy really overreacted. I recently moved and it was no longer practical to drive to my old cleaners that did an awesome job on my dress shirts. I tried two other cleaners close to my new place. With one the shirts came back with not enough starch and spots. The other overdid the starch and double creases. Within the span of 24-hours two people recommended Tie's to me. I went there with some dirty shirts and some unworn on hangers to show them what I didn't want. The staff was friendly and understanding. I left feeling relieved that my shirts were in good hands and I was right. My shirts were ready on time and exactly how I like them. What can I say but Tie's gets it and I am now a loyal customer. The price is great compared to some of the places in downtown. I always say for those who love get on Yelp and bash places that everyone should have their own experiences and try places out! Hopefully not a lot of it. i've been going to Tie's for like 6 years and they do that whole thing perfectly. No Seinfeld-like "I'm wearing your pants!" shenanigans. I had a couple stains on my brand new dress and they got it out perfectly, as well as de-linted my coat so all evidence of orange cat was gone. My first yelp review because this company's crappy customer service needs to be called out. I have been going to ties for years. My cousin stopped going because they lost two nice buttoned-down shirts and told him that he never brought the shirts to be cleaned. I should have walked away then. Instead I continued to go probably because $1.00 per shirt is cheap. I finally learned you get what you pay for. I brought in 20 shirts to them. After I brought them all home, I noticed that one of my black shirts looked like someone took a bite out of the cuff. I returned the shirt and they told me that it wasn't their fault. They then accused me of pouring bleach on the cuff. And it was because of that that the cuff disappeared. When I asked the guy why I would pour bleach on a black buttoned down shirt, the guy said that it was my fault. He then said your problem not mine. Horrible customer service! read more

I've been coming here for over a decade. I've had shirts laundered and dry cleaning done with no issues. Where I have had problems is in alterations. About a year ago I had a pair of pants that were hemmed up. These are pants I have purchased for several years and never had any issues with. After a wash the threading on the bottom of the legs split. I came back and was repeatedly questioned by the woman who treated me like I was lying and acts like they never do anything wrong. A few weeks ago I came back with 4 pants. 3 were hemmed perfectly. One was not. I was in a car accident that week and couldn't get back in right away. I live in Southeast, so it was hard for me to get over there right away. I brought the pair back the following week and went through the same inquisition as before by her. Today, I pick up my pants and she tried charging me $12. When I pointed out they weren't hemmed, she again started the defensive inquisition and claimed "it was strange" because they didn't touch the pants. With the thousands of garments they touch on a weekly basis, you can expect a mistake now and then. People don't want to argue with you when you make a mistake. They expect professionalism and not feeling like you are don't trust your longtime customers. I'll be finding a new place for alterations. 2 stars - 1 for doing my shirts well, 1 Star for prices. - 3 stars for poor alterations and customer service. read more

I've appreciated the fast cleaning service here in the past, but this 5-star review is because Tie's did an amazing alteration service for me. My favorite dress in the world needed a little reshaping after a few years and I lost a little weight, but because it's made from athletic material (think yoga pants) and it has complicated built-in bra parts with lots of interesting seams and cutouts, at least 6 other shops and seamstresses said it couldn't be taken in. Tie's not only did a perfect job of making my favorite dress wearable again, they did it in only a week and the cost was less than a quarter of what it would have cost to try to buy something similar new. I was a fan of Tie's because they are friendly and fast as far as how quickly you can get your clothes back. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how fast they say they can get you your clothing if they lose it. They never give me an itemized receipt, which I didn't really worry about. Until I dropped off a large batch of clothing and didn't get back a pair of pants and two cardigans. They were zero help in trying to locate what arguably were three of my favorite items from my closet. Their job is to clean your clothes and give them back. They are not capable of this. I would not go to Tie's unless you don't care if you pay to have something cleaned and then never see it again. read more

Like the post below me, I can't really argue. Dry cleaning and laundry is a pretty simple thing. Tie's does a great job, at least, from what I've seen. I picked up an old pea-coat from an antique shop in the Hollywood District last year. It was completely destroyed: The liner looked like a rabid wolverine was swaddled within, pockets torn apart, neck-line ripped up the seam. A real mess. I submitted the thing to Tie's with very little hope of it being repaired. Since I 'knew' they couldn't do much, I only pointed out two of the rips which I figured were simple and cheap. When I came back a week later, not only did they fix the two rips I pointed out on the seams, they ALSO did up the pocket rips, cleaned it, and patched up the liner as best as they could (Which actually sealed most of the thing up!) On top of all that, they only charged me for the TWO rips it was first brought in for. So $6 x 2 = $12(!?!) Unfortunately, after that, I had to dock a star. I brought in the exact same coat about a month or two later for a few quick repairs, one of which was a seam that had opened up again. I was SHOCKED that the bill for only, at most, two repairs, had SKYROCKETED to about $34! On top of that, when I picked it up, I was charged TWICE for the coat. It was explained that their debit machine was ancient and about to be replaced. The next morning, I went in with proof that I was double-billed, and they fixed it within a few seconds (the bank, of course, took longer.) All-in-all, apart from price, they're absolutely great! read more
