I'm updating this review because they added a new all-vegan menu! There are so many options to choose from since my last visit. Vegans and vegetarians can go nuts now. Dumpling soups, various noodle dishes, appetizers, pancake, etc. Normally at Korean places I just order one of the 3 options and it's always the same. This is now one of the most vegetarian-friendly East Asian restaurants in the city. They dress it all up with purple rice, which might not be traditional but it's delicious (and very filling). Honey ginger tea is cozy on a rainy day. The addition of a towering Squid Game red-light-green-light girl in the dining room is... a choice. I get what they're going for, but if you've seen the show, it does plague your peripheral vision while you're trying to relax and eat... right?? read more

We've attempted to patronize Tiger Mama before and they were randomly closed on the prior date, I can't recall why but it was during their usual open hours. We tried again on a rainy Monday evening in June and they were open and not too busy yet shortly after 5:30. We decided to sit in the covered patio area, it was quite nice. They have heaters if its cold and privacy screens from pedestrians on the sidewalk which is right there. Seems like they use part of the patio as a storage spot, which I can understand given its a small, converted house. Menus were well used, so much so that part of them were unreadable. Luckily I had looked on yelp reviews beforehand and knew what I wanted. We ordered the Gun mandu, K-ramen with mandu and Bokkum Noodle with spicy pork bulgogi. I also tried an mocktail (the Pink Hanbok). Everything was delivered relatively quickly and the staff, while clearly shorthanded, was nice and friendly. The Gun Mandu was very good, could have been filled a bit more. The Bokkum noodle was too sweet for me and the spicy pork wasn't spicy. The ramen was good but nothing here really stood out to me. I've had larger servings of similar fare elsewhere and the ramen seemed a bit generic which was surprising to me given other reviews. Overall it was a good experience but it wasn't outstanding. Service is good, staff are genuinely nice and ambience is fine. read more

Food is so flavorful. We got the bipimbap, which, at most Korean restaurants I've been to, is usually good but a little plain. However, at Tiger Mama, it manages to maintain some traditional aspects while also being something completely new. They also have a dedicated gluten free menu! Yummmmm. We got the tteokbokki, beef bulgogi kimbap, seafood pajeon, and half of the honey soy garlic KFC. Everything was good! The only thing I will note is that the tteokbokki was a little watery. Tiger Mama is one of the few Korean places with banchan in Eugene. The seating is a little crowded, but it was not a big deal. read more

One of the easiest 5 star reviews I've ever posted. An absolutely sensational experience! The food was superb. The mushrooms bibimbap was out of this world. Such a great assortment of ingredients and flavors, the rice that sticks to the side of the clay pot is a real treat. Also tried the buchu jeon which was equally out of this world good! I had it gluten free so they use a different kind of flour, I have eaten a ton of gluten in my life and I can say the gluten free version I can not even imagine tasting better in anyway. It was one of if not the best pancake type dishes I've ever had. Also the seaweed salad was great as well as the little appetizer assortment thing they give to every table. The wait here was 15-20 minutes on a Thursday night and I went in alone! I expect they will be packed on most nights as the food really is out of this world and unique bur it is well worth the wait. I forgot to take a photo before we started eating. Oops! But, I can't believe it took us THIS long The food was really good! We ate our meal and ended up ordering food to-go because it was delicious! I only have 2 complaints. I needed more table space and I need more things to dip in all the sauces! Loved the sauce that came with the potstickers (im sorry I forget its Korean name!). The Korean fried chicken with sweet and spicy sauce was probably the favorite of the night! Also ended up adding volcano sauce to my Bokkum Noodle with Bulgogi. Service was also great! This spot is a must if you are looking for good Korean food in Eugene. I am really picky about Asian cuisine but this place always hits the spot for me. It is also my go to when friends visit from out of town. The interior is super cute. The space is smaller than you might expect but it still fits a good amount of people and they also have outdoor seating. I got the beef bulgogi with rice and my husband had the ramen and both were delicious. My absolute favorite is always the banchan (free side dishes). Went for an office birthday lunch. They accommodated all 11 of us graciously (it's a small restaurant, but it was a Thursday lunch). I ordered the Bokkum Noodle Spicy Pork Bulgogi. It was excellent. For lunch, it would be splittable. Very flavorful. The "spicy" is a bit of a misnomer, it had a nice kick, but not too hot (I'd give it a 2 on my 0-5 scale). This is the absolute BEST FOOD I've had in a loooooong time. Everything is so fresh and flavorful with just the right amount of spice (you can ask for more/less spice). Do not be afraid to try something new. This is the perfect place to explore! I really appreciated how friendly and helpful all of the staff were, especially with menu recommendations. This is a local gem for the Eugene area. There are traditional Korean dishes served here. We tried the korean fried chicken, beef bulgogi, tteobokki, tofu soup, and bokkum noodle. Let's just start out saying Wow! I had wanted to try this place and invited coworkers for a work lunch. There were 4 of us and everyone enjoyed their meals. I especially like my Hoe Deop Bap, I made a comment they used the same rice as Sushi Pure. Little did I know their sashimi was from there also! I was just not that impressed with the food with all shared: the scallion pancake with mushrooms had some really tough chewy mushroom pieces in it. The bibimbop with beef bulgosi had a lot of burned rice on the bottom and the flavor was just blah. Should have added more spice level (my mistake since they did ask). The egg on top was nicely runny. The udon noddles were good but again not very flavorful. Maybe I expected more? The mocktail was great and the service even better. Amazing Korean food! We shared a few items and had our own entrees. We shared the honey soy and dry-rub spicy shichimi wings and kimchi jeon. SO freaking good! I had the dolsot bibimbap *chef's kiss*. The only thing that was subpar was the soju cucumber sangria. Tasted like red koolaid. Not even a hint of cucumber. I would definitely go here again! We went to Tiger Mama after hearing about their separate vegan menu! I always appreciate when restaurants clearly mark their options for different dietary preferences. What I love even more is that there are plenty of options to choose from and they all sound delicious. We opted for the classic Mushroom Bibimbap, which had that delicious crispy rice bottom that makes this dish so unique, and the Tofu Japchae which was perfect for my partner. Just clarify when ordering that you want these items from the vegan menu. They also brought us an appetizer and sides! Those were great as well. Keep in mind the Kimchi is not vegan because it has fish sauce. We sat on the patio and really enjoyed the atmosphere out there. The inside is nice too. It's a cute spot! Our service was great and they were able to clarify what was vegan for us. I appreciate that the staff is knowledgeable on that. They did bring my order with an egg but quickly recognized and remedy it by making me a fresh bowl. Overall, I am excited to return and try more items on the menu! Really tasty! That carrot/daikon slaw is something else. Gotta save the liquid for tomorrow's salad. I really appreciate the fact that there is a whole page of gluten-free options. My meal came with Kim chi and extra gochujang sauce. Next time I would like to experience the dol sot (hot plate) in the actual restaurant instead of just getting it to go. Service was excellent. This is the new spot to be! Similar for me to Meiji next door, in that you can have a drink and share some food. We felt lucky that we got there at 7:30 on a Saturday and were seated right away. When we left, the outside area in front was full and the inside stayed pretty full. It looks like they will have a larger outside area in back that will be ready soon complete with a permanent cover and heaters for the winter. My hubby and I shared three things and had enough to take home. We got the Kimbop with beef. It came with two dipping sauces (creamy and sweet/soy). We also got the Korean Fried Chicken (aka KFC) with the sweet and spicy sauce. It just had a small amount of heat and had a nice flavor profile. The chiles that came with it were HOT, so nibble those at your own risk. The last thing we ordered was the Fried Rice with pork and kimchi. It came with a fried egg on top and pickles on the side. Pretty basic but a good item to add to round your a meal. Near the end of our meal, they brought out a little plate of sides: kimchi, pickled carrots/daikon, and spinach with sesame along with a small, cold soft tofu dish. The spinach was very tasty and refreshing. They were attentive with bringing out my sake ($11) and refilling our water. Nice little spot but sort of noisy inside with all the tables, music, and people moving around. Definitely had a fun/evening/date vibe. We'll be back for a date night soon. read more

It's great to try out a new place in town! The inside can feel slightly cramped, once you sit down it's best to stay seated, but I like what they've done to decorate the unique space. Staff are all very friendly, but it took quite a bit of time for us to get our orders in. That was fine, as we needed a lot of time to study the expansive menu, but this wouldn't be the place to go if you were in a hurry! Now the food. It was very fun to try a bunch of things and share them with friends - I like their dedicated section on the menu for that. The Korean chicken wings are by far the stand out! So flavorful and perfectly cooked. Our general critique was that the flavors in some of the dishes were one-note (ie. just garlic, or very salty) and the spice level could be higher (or maybe a side spicy sauce)! It is AWESOME to see a Korean restaurant become so popular in Eugene. I went here again last night and it was packed which was great to see. I'd recommend coming in a group so you can sample a lot of their different foods without breaking the bank. Grab some Terra (Korean beer) and some soju to start everything off. All of their offerings off their drinking menus are awesome. Bulgolgi is a must if you've never had Korean. Tteobokki is the classic Korean drinking food though it can be spicy for some. Same thing with kimchee jigae especially if it's a cold night. The kimchee jeon (pancake) is delicious. If you're more adventurous try the gizzards. And I'd put the pepper fin sashimi up against any of the best sushi restaurants in town. If you like sashimi, GET THIS. The yellowtail is fantastic. The service is always friendly and helpful if you need recommendations. They're attentive and always quick to refill your water. I am in Eugene for a visit. What a beautiful Korean restaurant in Eugene! It is truly a gem. It is a poocha place and that is known in Korean culture as bar food. But it was absolutely wonderful and we enjoyed ourselves. Service and food was great. The only challenging issue about this place is parking, which is not too challenging. Tiger Mama is a new spot in the Whiteaker offering Korean-style casual food, like rice bowls, wings, and kimbap (Korean-style sushi rolls). I found them on Grubhub and ordered the beef bulgogi kimbap and the mushroom & vegetable kimbap. I really enjoyed the beef bulgogi, it was a delicious combination of flavors and texture The mushroom kimbap was pretty good too, but could have used a bit of oomph. A side of gochujang sauce would have been nice. For a couple extra bucks I got a side of soup. I had no idea what to expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised. It was two large pieces of tofu in broth. The broth was nicely seasoned, and the tofu had a beautiful texture that went really well with the broth.
