3.5 stars Better than taco bell and not expensive like some authentic Mexican restaurant. The interior looks nice for a fast food and it has a great atmosphere. Service is good and the food is decent when taking into consideration the price. My only complaint is their burritos and tacos always feel cold. My favorite plate there are the chimichangas just because they are fried and comes hot. Also their megajuana (how they call extra meat and cheese) for $1.50 is completely worth it. I've never understood the obsession with Tijuana Flats. Sure, the service is good, and the salsas are interesting. However, that doesn't make up for the lack of flavor in the food. I had a salad with fish. The fish did not taste too fresh, and didn't have much flavor. I hate to rely on sauces to make my food taste good. This is one of the best locations to eat at. Great atmosphere, art, and employees. You're greeted at the door, order at the register, and then it's practically full service after that. Taco Tuesday is such a a great deal, for 5.99 you get 2 tacos (good size tortillas), a handful of chips and a drink! I do love a good burrito, and Tijuana Flats is no exception! This location seems relatively new and has a nice open feel to it. It was pretty quiet when we went for lunch. The staff was very friendly, and informed me that I could get free chips and salsa for that day if I signed up for their text messaging program that informs you about specials, which I did! The chips were a really great accompaniment to my combo meal of Quesadilla and Chicken Burrito. I love almost all of the sauces. A must try if you are in the area. read more

Please not no beer before 4pm. Came here for a quick Mexican lunch and saw that it had good reviews, I was in the area so thought why not. Ordered the cheese and queso and the new lime chipotle steak tacos with avacado crema and cojita cheese (uhm yes I'll take ten). The sauce made the corn tortilla so soggy it feel apart so I immediately had a carb free meal and just ate the steak out of the taco, it was bland and I few pieces that I couldn't even chew. The chips were way over salted and I couldn't help but to chug water in between every bite (uh can we just say I wished this was a margarita but they only serve beer here). The queso was the only OKAY thing we ate, it still didn't taste super fresh but it did keep me from being HANGRY the whole way home. I wouldn't recommend this place and I won't be coming back, for a chain it didn't live up to the hype. read more

T-Flats is pretty good but not overly amazing. If you're in the mood for some real tacos then this is a great option. It's leagues above Taco Bell. Tips: - get the queso (and add some hot sauce to it) - their ice is AMAZING ... seriously I'll drive to one just for ice and chips when I'm sick. It's usually a toss up between here and chipotle but I love that T-flats isn't inherently spicy so if I'm not in the mood for that I can avoid it. (But they have a hot sauce bar so on the other hand if you love spicy too much to even explain then this is the place for you as well) read more

We used to go here all the time. Tonight we decided to go back and the food was awful. Servings were very poor. I had the chicken quesadilla for lunch a month or two ago and they were super stuffed. Tonight's were real tiny like a kids portion and hardly had any meat or cheese in them. My son ordered chicken tacos and they also hardly had anything in them. My husbands bowl was pretty skimpy too. Yes, it's a chain - and yes, it's Tex-Mex, but for what it is, it's some of the best around. Your meal is always made fresh, though sometimes the chips and taco shells can taste like they've been sitting around for a while and have gotten stale - but this is usually only if you go AFTER normal dinner hours (say, past 8pm). Customize your meals almost any way you want - and then load up at the hot bar. The sauces here change often, but there are standards that they pretty much always have. Most range in the mild to medium, but theres always at least one or two really hot ones. The staff and management at this location are excellent. Waitresses are always checking in with us to make sure everything is right, and a manager comes by at least once a visit. We're regulars here and they recognize us and we usually have a brief chat. Having been to Tijuana Flats locations across Orlando, and one in Tampa, I can say that the Avalon Park location is our favorite - which works out well for us since it's just minutes from our house. read more

Is it possible to give no stars? This is possibly the worst establishment I've ever been to and I'm baffled as to why people rave about this place. We ordered two chicken burritos with cheese lettuce and onions to go and were more than disappointed. When I opened the box, I found the burrito to be pretty small compared to other restaurants where they hand you pounds of amazingness wrapped in foil. This? No where near one pound of anything. I took one bite and all I could taste was flour tortilla. I had another bite and couldn't taste anything other than some cheese, lettuce, and flour tortilla. I then saw a pinkish red rim on the edges of the burrito and asked myself - what the hell was this? I didn't add any sauce or anything to it - so I opened the burrito and was in for quite a surprise. The chicken apparently is mixed in with some sort of Mexican style sauce - and the combination of the chunks of chicken in the sauce, lettuce, onions and cheese literally looked like vomit. I put down the burrito and was done. The only good thing to come out of this experience were the chips - but again they had some sort of seasoning on them which made them taste almost like Doritos. So I frequent this place quite often and I must say that it is one of the more interesting restaurants I have been to. Yes they have plenty of locations but I am being biased on on this particular one. lol...This particular location has great service and a friendly staff that is willing to do whatever they can to make your experience enjoyable. The menu has changed a couple of times with the adding of items, taking off items, and changing the look of the menu (most Gordon Ramsey style for those of you that watch Kitchen Nightmares). Oh yeah they do have happy hour and I am not sure if they still have a live band, but maybe that was for only the summertime. Tijuana Flats was introduced to me while living in Orlando and years after, I'm still coming back. Two reasons: good food and good service. Just that simple. As a vegetarian, I love that they make sure to point out what items are vegetarian and allow almost everything on their menu to be made meat-free. Tex-Mex meals are simple dishes so it's not necessarily the actual entrees that make a good place, but the quality of the ingredients. On every visit, to multiple Tijuana Flats locations, they always deliver quality ingredients which in return means delicious entrees that are consistent. I've tried many of their entrees including the tacos, nachos, flautas, and chimichangas. I enjoy each but I love the flautas the best. These are a great buy because you get queso and guacamole included with the flautas. Couple this with their hot sauce bar, you have a winning combination. Their burritos come in three different sizes, but my boyfriend's regular sized burrito was pretty big. He must have enjoyed the burrito because it was gone the next time I looked over at his plate. Today was the second time I've stopped by this Tijuana Flats restaurant on Avalon. Just like the last time I came here for a meal, there's 7 people sitting down eating their meal and no ones standing in line. There is nothing going on in the restaurant. The worker says she will be right with me. 2 other workers see me standing there waiting to order my food and no one helps me. I waited over 5 minutes and left. I love tijuana flats. However after coming for numerous years ( I've lived in E Orlando over 10 years) this visit wasn't too great. I called in my order to whomever answered the phone w short responses, and poor customer service. He was very short with me and rushed me off the phone. I asked for Extra dressing for my salad. Checked my order with claimed to be checked when you pick it up, to no dressing. Who eats a taco salad w no dressing !?! I'll still continue to go visit my local Tijuana flats.
