When I went in the store to check prices the salesperson Roxy was able to help me coordinate the floor and wall tile so much better than my interior designer! called them after xmas. no answer. then drove all the way there. they were closed for the Holidays. not to reopen till after 1/1. It would have been nice if their voicemail message would have stated that. would have saved me some time and gas. would also have been nice to leave a number if someone had question the week or more they were closed. that's a long time for a business to be closed, since some of us do home remodeling over the holidays when we are not working.. very disappointed. changing their voicemail is the least they could have done. i will order my necessary products elsewhere. read more

I used Tile Direct San Marcos to purchase tile for a fireplace surround for my beach house. Their design specialist Roxy Shaefer was fabulous. I had never done a fireplace surround and she was so helpful in helping me pick out a tile and design. She even referred me to someone to do the tile work. I had already talked to several tile companies and installers and I was exhausted in the search. I purchased my tile from them and contacted the installer. He gave me an estimate that was a fraction of the other quotes I got. The installer showed up on time, worked until the job was complete. He was very meticulous, clean and neat. I couldn't be more pleased. I will definitely use this company again and again. read more

We went to this store last Saturday to choose exotic tile for the beginning of the first leg of a multi-faceted outdoor project. The store was impressive at first, with some very nice tile, but nothing was in stock. So we proceeded to place an order, which took several hours because the clerk was not very good at it. It should've added up to about $700. Jaimie, the friendly, but unknowledgeable clerk, was unable to complete the order while we were there, so she said she would get us "something" by Sunday. Well, she didn't. However, we were still optimistic and very very excited about our order. On Monday, when we received an invoice out of the blue via email and demand for payment, from another clerk, Roxie, things took a drastic turn for the worse. Not only was the order wrong...short 54 tiles....but there were hidden charges and fees. When I called Roxie to straighten this out, she couldn't have been more rude and condescending. The answers she threw out were ridiculous and insulting. After several tries with her, trying to get the order straight, including trying to give her my credit card number which she was too busy to take down, I finally said forget it, and we went elsewhere. Shortly after that, I found the same tile a lot cheaper, with no shipping charges and no ridiculous hidden charges or "terms." (Tile Direct's terms are unacceptable unless you are very inexperienced and are able to be railroaded.) Tile Direct lost a very good customer due to extremely poor customer service. Our first order was sizable (for a walk-in customer out of the blue) and we have many more tile projects in our future and we live very near Tile Direct. We would've used them for years if they had just been reasonable. read more

Not only did Greg (manager) give us immediate attention, but he explained everything thoroughly and gave great suggestions about our project. I loved that the install company (EHI, Inc.) was part of the family business. I worked with Neli (Greg's mom) and it was seamless. He worked with Tile Direct, picked up my tile and supplies, and was a pleasure to work with. He did a professional job and he worked hard and efficiently.
